  1. Yes. I agree, it was a great spectator sport, we loved it and the level of training was very high. Everyone was very friendly too and as Mirrawee said were willing to explain it all to us. Mirrawee and her mum looked after J myself and T A well as always and we had a lovely lunch and Mirrawee's dad made sure we could get warmed up over lunch by lighting a lovely fire. Got to check out the horses and see how much the last lot of foals had grown as well as seeing the latest edition. Just a pity it got dark so soon as would have loved to take pictures of the horses. ETA: Congratulations Fetchindawgs on yesterdays results and also hope the two lifesavers haven't got colds today, you guys rock.
  2. I liked Mason's Mum, why the change?? Are you disowning him!
  3. Yep, even some fellow dog people can't always be trusted to do the right thing, so no matter how well we think we know someone always be careful even those you think you have known for years. Not meaning you Rubystar ;) , just that I have been burn't by a couple of people in the dog world who I was foolish enough to trust. I can understand where your comming from, because you know yourself and know you are a good person but the breeder still has to play it safe as they don't know you as well as you do. :D Personally I would love to be able to take most people at their word, but the few ratbags do spoil it for everyone, and they are on both sides of the fence breeders and buyers so both parties have to be careful. If anyone has the ideal solution I would love to hear it but until then we have to settle for a less than ideal situation in order to protect ourselves and the dogs. There are alot of expectations put on responsiable breeders too, so we have to take into account that our responsiablity to our pups does not stop when they go to their new homes. While I'm willing to take back one of mine and rehome it the last thing I want is getting a bitch back with a litter of who knows what pups, because the person bred from it and then decided it was all too hard when the litter of pups is and pooing and peeing and chewing up their home. Just one possiable scenario. It's great getting everyone's opinions though as it gives us all other perspectives to consider, and everyone is keeping it friendly with is good.
  4. Good God Ozjen I cant believe that would really happen!!!!! Was this in WA?? Surely they Pet Shop owner would know that this ISNT the done thing!? I think if I had seen that I wouldve been onto the "original" name on the limited papers to let them know , then wouldve let rip at the pet shop - seriously this sort of stuff really p!$$es me off! I think the biggest thing that puts me off getting into breeding is finding homes for the pups - it would be the single most difficult thing to get 100% right. The small number of idiots make it soooooo hard for those that seriously just want to do the right thing...Oh, and BTW - I am not having a go at you at all Ozjen, Im just infuriated that someone would actually do this without a second thought!!!!! Ok, vent over... Are you gonna be at the show on Sat VCBR, or some other event?? If so I will endeavour to hunt you down and introduce myself, very interested in having a quick squiz at your agility book - see if its what I need! I reckon they will be using the dome if its gonna be thundering and raining! Hope it makes it way around the grounds though! Geez, I cant believe just how excited I am about going to watch this show on Saturday!!! Rat No worries Labrat, I wasn't having a go at anyone on here either it just makes my blood boil everytime I think of it. Yes, it was WA and the breeder of the bitch was informed, she had words with the owner of the bitch as well as the pet shop and also got legal advise. It was a very upsetting situation for her and very disheartening as a fairly new breeder trying to be a responsialble breeder. Pet shop was also telling people that they could view the grandparents and other relies on the mothers side online as they were alot of Champions. Mmm, again all that would do is reinforce blaming the wrong people when things go pearshape with the new petshop pup. Certainly made me relook at my contract and wonder how I could really guarentee that my pups aren't bred from once they change ownership is they didn't leave me already sterilized.
  5. As Amy said. But I dont think it is very ethical for the breeder to hold onto the papers until you have her sterilised. After all they are only limited registration papers, you couldnt register a litter from her anyway so i dont understand why they are holding the papers. They should just give you the papers after you purchase the dog and then give you a rebate when the dog is desexed if they want to encourage you to have her desexed. I will more than likely hold on to my pups papers until they are sterilized, unfortunatley not everyone follows through with what they agree to at time of purchase even after signing a contract. An agreement similar to Mirrawees is under consideration. I have see a pet shop show a copy of limited register papers for one of the parents of the pups that the pet shop was selling. The breeder was horrified to find out that not only had this bitch been bred from and the ofspring were being sold in a petshop, but that her limited register paperwork for the mother was being shown. These pups were bred from a bitch that was to be sterilized and no health testing was done on her, the father or the ofspring(in petshop) but the Prefix of the breeder of the bitch would be the one people would affiliate with these pups if anything went wrong with them, not the person who actually bred the limited register bitch. That is just one example of why breeders are starting to hold back papers till they are sure new owners have fullfilled the sterilization requirement. Also many people don't understand the difference between limited register and Mains when they go to buy a puppy so unscrupulous people can fool them into believeing they are getting a pedigree pup by showing both parents limited register papers. Just check the local dog adds in the paper, ie pedigree cavalier/pug X , registered RottiX, purebred pedigree Chihauhau (registerd with canine? no!) I for one don't want to make it any easier for them. If I am selling a pup as a pet it is never to be bred from and the terms of me selling that pup to someone is that they sterilize it with in an agreed time period and send proof of same, if they are not willing to do that then they can look elsewhere for a pup. While I'm not comfortable with sterilizing young pups before they leave like many breeders are starting to do I can fully understand why breeders are starting to do it, withholding papers is hopefully going to encourage peope to stick to their side of the agreement but ultimaitly the only sure way is to sterilize before they leave. I'm not ready to take that ultimaite step yet but if left with no other choice it will be that or not breed at all. ETA: Pet shop pups were sold for twice the price of Limited register pups that are eye tested, vaccinaited and microchiped and from health tested parents so are purchasers of LR dogs really paying for the papers. Perhaps breeders should charge petshop prices hold on to their paperwork and then offer the price difference back along with papers when they have proof of sterilization.
  6. Sending healing thoughts your way Jed (Jane), I may never have met you but through DOL we have all been brought together as a family. So sorry for your situation and the loss of some of your beloved furkids. Thankyou to those keeping us all updated and I hope her family and friends are coping okay at this difficult time.
  7. Might be worthwhile getting his thyroid checked for the hair loss and loss of condition. The thunderstorm thing might be to do with his age and changes in his hearing or ears. One of my dogs when he got older developed an intense fear of thunderstorms and fireworks although they were never an issue when he was younger. With regard to the escaping the dog I had with the thunderstorm issues also started to jump a 6ft odd fence on a regular basis although he had shown no interest in escaping prior, this was when he was about 7yrs old. Turned out he had a thing for the sterilized German Shepherd next door and they would have a game and then just lay together until someone came home. Sterilizing him and heightening the fence didn't help, even with stitches in he was still scaling the fence at 7 and a 1/2 feet. He wasn't my only dog either so he had company in his own yard. Hope you get some answers and solutions to your problems with Loki, I love Shiba's and use to have a lovely Black and Tan girl who I titled in the ring. She was a very smart little cookie but also disrupted the household way too often and was rehomed after an incedent with my old Papillon.
  8. Hey Amypie!! Wasn't Jenna for a change, although if it was on my table Jenna would have grabbed it without even waiting for me to go out.
  9. I got a couple of snaps of your pooch too.
  10. Who Sooty? She is the sweetest natured dog I know. She plays so gently with the smaller dogs at the DOL meets and has the most beautiful face.
  11. Ah! naughty Jenna and the very clever Kyzer. Jenna was so over it by the finals but I'm stilll proud of her and Mirrawee for getting into the finals even if Jenna refused to compete.
  12. Ok hopefully fixed. Still having sound issues.
  13. Ok hopefully fixed. Still having sound issues.
  14. it wont let me look Okay, give me a couple of minutes and I'll try to rectify it. Its been a b#^^!y pain to upload and try to sort out the sound so I probabaly forgot to tick a box the last time.
  15. I have considered going down to Perth Agility but the fact that is on fridays makes it hard - we always have stuff on. If I could find somewhere that either does tuesdays or thursdays nights or even saturday arvo it would be perfect! ACWA has classes on a Tuesday night at the Canine Centre and I think enrollments are the begining of each term.
  16. For those who might be interested I have uploaded some photos of the Agility Nationals to Youtube, the sound was playing up abit and unfortunately most of the really fast dogs I was too slow to capture. If anyone recognises their dogs and wants copies of any photos I'm happy to email them. Safe journey home to all our interstate mates, it was an awesome Nationals.
  17. Well the Nationals are over and tomorrow is earmarked for a long sleep in. I think the commitee did an absolutely brilliant job and given the number of runs involved it went extremley smoothly. Great prizes and terrific trophies as well as a nice feed at the end. Congratulations to all those that did so well and to everyone for being such good sports win or loose. Safe journey home to all those interstaters and I hope you all find room for your prizes for the trip home. I hope you all enjoyed your stay in WA and we see you all back again next time we have the National here. To the young lady who was hurt I wish you a speedy recovery from your injury. It was great meeting everyone and their fabulous dogs who were all fantastic to watch.
  18. You met Ozjen too , I was the one who asked where your other dog was, arouond the time you were calling your other half to come see the Agility.
  19. http://www.youtube.com/user/ozpawfx Don't know how helpful mine will be as mainly tricks.
  20. That's ok, I might just curl up with Varda in her crate Mmm, don't think you'll fit.
  21. I will feel well enough to run them... just might sleep in between runs Last night I was actually more concerned with having to drive home rather than the actual training Although I was in bed before I would have left for home Actually, scrap that... what would you do if I said I wasn't well enough and you had to run Jenna yourself? I'd say B*##@* I just blew $75 bucks and Mirrawee must be really crook. Poor Mirrawee ;) Please, please be all better by tomorrow. Shall we bring a campbed and mattress for you? With as many runs do you think you will get a chance to sleep?
  22. Heading down for around 3, you don't have to come down , was planning on saving a spot for your cabana anyway, already have the tarp and pegs in the car. VCBR you don't have to drive all that way either as I have your cabana and will set it up and grab everyones numbers and stuff. Hope your feeling better today Mirrawee. Are you sure? I am heading down that way for dinner so it's not realy 'driving all the way'. Yep will be fine. Dinner's not till 7, so I'm sure we all have lots to do before then. Are you staying over tonight?
  23. ME!! and I'm not even running my dog. I'm glad Mirrawee is cool and level headed, hopefully she will feel well enough to run them.
