Baahh! Forget it HE"S MINE. You can run him in Agility for me though Mirrawee. He looks like he is a bright little fellow, we will all be lining up for cuddles when he gets out.

I am so sorry you haven't found your dog it must be heartbreaking for you all. My boys were around the same age when the dog they had been brought up with passed away and they were devestated, they had learnt to stand holding on to the dog who was an angel with them. We all shed many tears, talked about the good times we had with him and made a tribute frame with photos of him to hang on the wall. 20 years later I still shed tears for him and my boys still get misty eyed when we talk about him or other dogs in our lives that have gone. While its not quiet the same for your kids as they don't have closure perhaps making up a tribute frame may help them with coping. Kids will always hang onto hope no matter how unlikely but it can stop them moving forward, so you may have to find away for them to get closure. Also remember that as much as it hurts us to see our kids hurting and crying it is all part of the healing process and I would be more concerned if no emotion was shown. There is still a chance your dog may turn up as I know someone who lost their dog for about 15months in fairly inhospitable country and the dog was living wild but they got it back. Another case I know of where a friend of the owner visiting a shelter on another matter about 9 months or more after the dog disappeared recognised the dog and it was reunited with its owner. For the sake of the kids though you may have to look at your dog being gone for good so that they can move forward but I wouldn't try to replace it until they feel ready.

I am still tossing up whether to go to the Working dog show in Sept. Am going to an agility trial the day before and hopefully Team Penning the night before so don't know... plus I have my first foals due that week too The horses are good... although depending on Diva tonight there may be a palomino available to the first person who gets to our place with a float! I so hate having a show horse who hates having her legs trimmed Very stressful for Mum, myself and Diva! Ooh, baby Llamas are cute... although personally I prefer alpacas. I have an alpaca who sits on my desk at work :p OzJen can tell you how cute he is ETA: Emery I keep meaning to tell you what a cutey your girl is but then I get distracted Do you look at her and then the adults and wonder how she can be that small? Yep, your Alpaca is defienaitly cute and cuddly, Mirrawee, although I get funny visions of an Alpaca sitting on your desk. :D Now were could I get a horse float so I'm ready to take Diva home when you make her available, could she sit on my desk at work as my yard is too small. ;) Hope she is a good girl tonight, even if I would love to take her home. Lol I would take her if she was a male, I have never bonded with mares I miss my horse so much, havent been around horses in ages... Mirrawee also has a beautiful deep gold Palomino gelding that she bred, at least I think she still has him. Diva is a lot paler palomino and looks grey when clipped, but still lovely. Funnily I'm usually the same when it comes to dogs, I prefer boys, Jenna is the first girl that I have really bonded with and the bond I have with her I think is greater than any I have ever had even though I have got really close to other dogs I have had.

Hopefully he'll come back with some nice wins and ribbons for his mum. Good on you for being brave enough to manage without him for abit, I keep making excuses not to send Jenna off as I know I'll be a basket case without her. Even the chance of a new baby Aussie doesn't make it any easier, although I keep telling myself I HAVE to do it.

I cant recommend Computer Sashes & Rosettes enough, they did mine for Cruise last year at the Royal - and were very accomodating with my late order There is also Cochrane's (I think that is the name) in Kenwick on Albany Highway, that do a good job, run by a fellow dog person's son (won't mention name as not sure about posting people names on internet) but she is involved with Southern River obedience and agility club as well as a judge and competitor (has a Sheltie).

Hope you all had a good time at Trixie's birthday party, sorry I couldn't make it but the temptation of puppy cuddles was just too good to pass up. Wasn't just puppy cuddles though, I always learn more about breeding and showing etc talking with this breeder and the friends we went down with and have plenty of laughs as well.

Oh and I think you've told me the lamp story and J's wish that backfired :p Nope, not Aussie breathe, I would be too temped and I'm saving that spot for one of Jenna's (hopefully). Not getting one myself just going for the cuddles and will hopefully be able to see a couple grow up as two are going to people I know to be shown.

You need an Alladin's lamp, next time you see J (my sister) or me remind me and I'll explain. I have quiet a few lamps now but want a lawyer to check my wishes before I make them, learn't by J's mistake about not making the wish very clear. Sorry to be negative here, but it doesn't sound that he has given it much thought at all, perhaps he would be better getting an ornament of a dog for his backyard. The impression I get is that he justs thinks that now he has a house he needs a dog to decorate the backyard. My apologies if I'm wrong, but a dog that hopefully will be a family member for the next 12 to 15+ years hopefully deserves alot more thought than what this person appears to be giving.

You 'll make some mistakes along the way but that is part of the learning process as long as you get the important stuff right you'll be okay and it sounds like you aleady have learn't from previous mistakes. We all never stop learning and DOL is a great site for sharing information and learning. Our dogs can teach us alot too. The fact that you are taking time to consider everything and have worked so hard with your other dog shows to me that you will be an awesome owner. Even parents don't always get it right with kids but provided they are trying it usually works out in the end, same with our dogs. Each dog is a different personality too, even within the same breed so they are all abit different when it comes to learning, behaving etc, so you adjust accordingly and find the best way to teach what you want. Try to vary the socialization situations as much as possiable, I find that my dog responds slightly differently in different situations. ie laid back at a dog show and wanting to strut her stuff, hypedup and reactive(barking wise) at agility, sooky and wanting cuddles from everyone at the royal, reserved with strangers on first meeting them away from these situations, loves kids always, abit nervous of other unknown dogs outside of the show situation, especially really large ones (DOL meets have improved this alot though).

One aspect of these injections is that if the dog does have a reaction there is no getting it out of the system because it is designed for a long term affect. Dogs with MDR1 should not have it and some vets are still giving it to these dogs and killing them or causing extended treatment to save them. Some breeds are more predisposed to MDR1 than others. I know of a dog(Aussie) that survived being lost for about 18 months in the far north of WA in the bush. She survived several severe cyclones, tempertures in the 40+ daily and living it rough in the bush after being a showdog as well as having at least one litter out there. When found the vet almost killed her even though he had been warned she was MDR1. Luckily she survived and was reunited with her extremely happy owner in Perth after the airlines flew her down free of charge and went on to become an Australian Champion.

A certain WA DOL member had a birthday this week, not mentioning any names but she handles naughty Aussies, Laphunds, horses and the odd cute Kelpie. I didn't mention any names so I can't get told of for telling. Guess who?????

Think he closed down Rach, although he hung out longer than the rest. Use to love going horse riding when I could afford to although I never liked my body the next day after being on a horse for a long riding session .

You can use any type of harness for tracking including the car harnesses. Personally I found that the car harness was inclined to slip more on Jenna and the tracking one sold at tracking although slightly big sits better on her. The tracking ones are more a strap across the chest and one around the body leaving the legs more free movement and encouraging the dog I suppose to lean into the harness more as it tracks. Many of the trackers also add the wool seatbelt cover things to the chest strap for added comfort. Keep the harness only for tracking and only put it on just before a track as it helps mark the behaviour you are seeking. At tracking we don't even put it on at the car, it is put on within a couple of feet of the actual track and taken of immediatly at the end of the track. Why not contact Trackwest and see if you can still join for this season, it doesn't take dogs long to learn, Jenna may have been in tomorrows trail if she hadn't come into heat. They might even let you join them tomorrow following a few tracks to see if you are interested. I can't wait to get back.

A number of kibbles have beet juice in them and this contributes to the tear staining, so watch out for it if you feed kibble. Also Apple Cider Vinagar added to the dogs water helps too. My Papilloin boy use to get bad tear staining but a raw diet and ACV and he has lovely clear eyes, not bad for an almost 14 year old.
