I'd like to share some pics of our very special new boy, who won't be here until next year, but will be doing a bit of showing at home in Sweden and Finland in the meantime :) His name is Osku, and he is a wolf sable finnish lapphund from Herding Instinct's kennel in Sweden. We are really, really looking forward to his arrival early next year :)

Going well :) One little boy was a bit slow to start with - he was a little one! - but he is kicking along well and has almost caught up to his sisters and brother. He's never far from the milk bvar, thats for sure! Evolving popped over for a visit today and took some pics - the link is here http://www.dolforums.com.au/topic/137956-spitz-breeds/page__view__findpost__p__5793261

Getting A White Coat To 'shine'
lappiemum replied to Chequeredblackdog's topic in Health / Nutrition / Grooming
I can see bc in him :) - I can also see lab too! LOL There are colour enhancing shampoos but looking at the texture of the coat I think he will probably have more of a matt texture - he's a lovely looking boy btw ;) -
aww - gorgeous babies
-
Will do so - definately prefer daytime deliveries too!

Morning all :) Would like to announce the safe arrival of 7 Taigakoira babies ;). - 5 girls & 2 boys, 1 each in cream & the rest tri colour. Babies started arriving 3.30pm yesterday & were all delivered by 6.45pm. Mum is an expert at cleaning bottoms and babies feeding well. Hopefully all goes smoothly in the next 48 - 72 hrs.

just dropping in :) - and still waiting - that temp stopped at 37.0 and hung around there ..... then we had another drop to 36.6 ....now its on the way back up - but in the meantime, Tasha is digging, panting and giving all the good stage 1 signs so I will just and until
-
Lots of panting and nesting and big soulful eyes last night (and no sleep!) but the temp is slowly on the increase. Am thinking from her behaviour and the temp that we will be looking at a whelping today or tonight. Its going to be a LOOONNNGGG day! LOL

Thanks everyone :) - we've hit the magic 36 mark (36.6) and now she is on the way back up - probably early in the am or later tomorrow I'm thinking. Lots of panting, pretty restless, I think we're both in for a pretty long night!
-
we've had the temp drop - it hasn't gone back up yet, but it looks like I'm in for a long night tonight regardless....

Congrats Taupa! Yes - we're due this Friday or Saturday - paws crossed here all goes fine! Miss Tasha is nesting like crazy already ;)
-
good luck with that waiting!
-
congrats experiencedfun and angelsun! And paws crossed that hopefully you will get a positive confirmation in the next 2 weeks OSoSwift well, Miss Tasha is on the downhill run for this litter - and boy is she a porker! LOL She is due this Friday, but I'm hope that she will hold out till Saturday - very few vets are open on Good Friday, and I while she was a good whelper last time, worry wart me likes to have plan B!..... LOL But we shall go with the flow!
-
Congrats!!!! We've got a vet check Monday too - not long to go for us, Tasha is due towards the end of the week/Sat.

I buy canned sardines in springwater (black & gold brand ;) ) & mix that in with the kibble - one of my girls is outrageously fussy when she is pregnant but that works with her every time.

With 8 puppies its not possible to have 8 crates for crate training and still have room in the house - I did try with one litter having a single crate as a communal sleeping area, but they ate it  LOL. Having said that, we have one 9 week puppy with us still that is being crate trained at the moment quite successfully. We have designated toilet areas inside and outside, and I am a strong believer of using puppy pens once those little monkeys are up and about! (we have usually 2 or 3 set up, inside and outside). I found that with my last litter they would have set areas where they preferred to toilet and encouraged that; the feedback I have had from the puppy people (most puppies left a week or so ago) is that they are all doing very well with toileting, and that basic commands of sit and stay are working well. All our litters are introduced to chew and inateractive toys, and yes, I prefer to hide their food when they get older in kongs (or even used toilet rolls!) which makes it all the more tastier, apparently. All our puppies were very people focused, and would rush over to anyone who came to visit for pats and cuddles and attention, so we mustn't of done too bad a job in raising the little monkeys LOL

Socialisation is an ongoing thing - by 8 weeks your puppy should certainly be friendly with people, happy and active. The new owner, however, needs to establish their authority with their puppy - certainly not with harsh or over the top discipline (like rubbing their little noses in accidents) but be firm, fair and consistent and show that you are your puppy's leader. As for errorless housetraining, um, I'm not sure how many litters ian Dunbar has bred, but my last litter had 8 puppies....don't think I had them 'error less house trained' by 8 weeks.....

We are due in about 2 weeks - not sure how many, am guessing between 4 and 6 :) We xrayed our last litter - they said 6 and we had 8 ;)
