Oh crap Sam! So sorry to hear you guys have split . I hope you can still make it to meets though . Hope you're okay pal. And another crap to the stoopid weather! We can't come either if its going to be 37
-
No, it happens with all water. She still coughs if she drinks from the outside bowl on a hot day.
-
I know what you mean . It's a no-win situation for so many dogs
-
Thanks hilaryo and daccydog. I feel bad for her because she never really gets to enjoy having a drink of water. I raised the water bowl last night but it didn't make any difference. I guess I'll just have to get used to her spluttering after every drink.

Thanks for the extra information ijdavis. I was under the impression that the animals were desexed prior to rehoming.

Just wondering if there's been any word on Mickey? I have a sign about him in my shop window and I think about him and his owners all the time. Any news at all?

Thank you so much, I was going to give you a ring tomorrow and see if I could bring a box out(and see my favourite cresties), we are printing up some fliers and a laminated info sheet about the shelter at the moment Yes, feel free to bring any other info that I can display. Another idea is to have a look at www.ag-line.com and get the manufacturers contact details (from the links) for all the dry foods they distribute. Ring the manufacturers and see if they can donate out of date bags and if Agline can deliver them to me along with my regular orders. Then you can pick up the bags from me for transport to Moorook. But you'll need to contact the manufacturers first to see if you can get the bags and also if Agline can deliver them. Better let you know that I don't bring the kids into the shop anymore as they were getting stressed by customers' dogs coming in. And .... I now have three! Couldn't resist a little senior girl who needed us xxx
-
What a coincidence! Just 10 minutes ago I sent off an email to Moorook to let them know that I'd added them to the Links page of my website and have included them in Fido's charities! I already have a box here for donations of food, etc for rescues and shelters, I will put a sign up in my 'Charity Corner' to let customers know that Moorook needs our help. xxx

Hi all, Pepper is the latest addition to our little Chinese Crested clan. She's 9 years old, very shy and quite fat. Every single time she has a drink she coughs a lot afterwards as if the water has gone down the wrong pipe. Sarge, my 10 year old male Crestie does the same thing quite often, but Pepper does it every single time. Madeline, the 4 year old doesn't have any problem. Any thoughts or suggestions? She doesn't cough at any other time. Would it make any difference if I raised the water bowl? Is a vet visit needed?

Meet My New Puppy - Name Decided - Meet Earl
yellowgirl replied to MsKatie's topic in General Dog Discussion
I met Earl!! . Katie and Shannon brought him into the shop for a visit. Oh, those ears, and all that skin! He's so soft and snuggleable, I couldn't keep my hands off him! . Here he is at the shop... he's a pretty relaxed little guy -
I'll probably just be bringing Maddie to this one. Not quite sure how it happened ... but we now have a senior Crestie girl, Pepper, added to our clan! . She's about 9 and very shy and I think a meet could be a bit much for her. Sarge doesn't always enjoy himself in the outside world so I'm thinking that he and Pepper can veg out at home and look after each other. Fluffypaws, I still have your calendar at the shop! Completely forgot to give it to you when you came in! I'll bring it with me on the 31st, hopefully you and the fluffsters can make it Looking forward to meeting the new people and their pooches too ;)

Coming on Jan 31st . Do we have this one instead of, or as well as, Feb 7?

Raw Diet For Chihuahuas
yellowgirl replied to tropicalmango's topic in Health / Nutrition / Grooming
Welcome to DOL tropicalmango and good for you for going natural with your new pups . I feed a similar mix to my 2 Chinese Cresteds. I agree perhaps reduce the liver and veggies a tad but overall you've got lots of good nutrition in your mix. You're right about the raw food debates, the most important thing is to find what works best for your own dogs Are you also feeding a good puppy dry food? Your pups will need the added calcium/phosphorus as they are growing. Check the label to make sure there's no ethoxyquin, BHA or BHT used as preservatives. You need a dry food that's complimentary to natural feeding (I like Nutro Natural Choice or Eagle Pack). Small lamb necks are great for pups to chew on also. Have you got pics of your two cuties? -
You know, you could have something there. Natural, tasty treats. Fits right in with the theme of my shop, and they're free too!

Thanks Kirty

I have a few possums that live in the trees in my backyard. Sarge and Madeline seem to think the possum poop is some kind of gourmet delicacy and often snuffle around the yard gobbling up the possum pebbles. My main concern - are they at risk from any parasites, particularly worms? The dogs are heartwormed every month and I've just given them an all-wormer that targets 11 gastointestinal worms including Roundworm, Hookworm, Whipworm and Tapeworm (including Hydatid). They've been doing it for months and I've seen no obvious ill effects but I'm wondering about the risk of parasites that might be transferred to them through the poop.

Yes! I'm not missing another one! If anyone is interested in the calendars we discussed a few months ago, I have a thread about it here http://www.dolforums.com.au/index.php?showtopic=183434

His poor owners, they must be beside themselves! I'll put a sign in my shop window. How old is he? Do you know if he's desexed or microchipped? Let me know any other info I should add to the sign. Just curious, how did he get to be with people who weren't his family?
-
Thanks for that Bully! I don't think they had much choice, not too many of us would have taken our dogs out in this heat anyway. I hope they reschedule it soon, I was really looking forward to it. I was going to put Madeline in the 'cutest dog' competition Fingers crossed that the weather will be okay for the Dec 6th meet .
-
I'm determined to get to the Dec 6th one As long as it's not too hot... this week's weather is ridiculous!! xxx ETA - We'll be at the Open Day on Nov 15th ... with lots of leaflets in hand . I want to enter my two in some of the competitions they've got going too. Looks like a fun day. I've put the poster in the shop window.
