  1. Is it okay with you guys if I use some of these shots for next years calendar? . I guess legally the pics belong to Ravyk and SchnauzerBoy, so I definitely need their permission, but if you're the owner of a dog and would prefer his/her picture not be used (as if ) please let me know.
  2. Thanks Bully, yes we have had quite a few medical worries lately  . But everyone is doing okay at the moment Just spoke to the vet and the bloods and urinalysis have all come back clear. No infection was indicated in the urinalysis and nothing to indicate why the blood was present in the urine . All the bloods were in the normal range (phew!). So, I guess I'll just have to keep loving him into feeling better and hope that he was just having an 'off' week or something. He's been a bit perkier over the weekend and this morning, so maybe whatever it was has passed . All a bit mysterious
  3. Wow! fantastic pics guys! I can't even pick a favourite, some really gorgeous photography there Thanks for taking pics of the 'Snuggle Bug' coats SB, hopefully I'll have them on the website soon . And thank you also to everyone who bought a coat, proceeds are going straight to my vet! Madeline and I had a really lovely day :p
  4. Thanks Kirty, I hope it's something simple and the antibiotics can take care of it Will check in on Monday after I've spoken to the vet
  5. Thanks spottychick, I'm glad I took him in, sometimes we just 'know' when something's not right with our furkids. Wish he could have waited a little while til I got the current vet bill under control though Thanks loulouB, fingers crossed that it's something relatively simple I forgot to mention that the vet has also put Sarge on antibiotics. I found this on the internet...... "There are several reasons that your dog might have blood in their urine. Below are some of the most common reasons given by various veterinarians: 1.Your dog might have a urinary tract infection 2.Your dog might have an infected prostate; 3.Your dog might have a uterine infection; 4.Your dog might have stones; 5.Your dog might have been poisoned; 6.Your dog might have been bitten by a tick; or 7.Your dog might have been in a serious accident causing internal injuries." I think we can safetly eliminate 3 and 7, but that still leaves quite a few other possibilities. Guess I'll just have to wait until Monday.
  6. After last month's debarkles ... Banshee-pancreatitis; Madeline-skin rash; Pepper-kidney disease... I thought we'd finished with the vet for a while. Sarge has been 'funny' all week, not anything I can really put my finger on, but I know he's not right, he's also been a bit sooky and clingy. So I thought I'd just pop him down to the vet this morning and get a blood test done to make sure there was nothing really wrong. Vet took blood from him to be sent off for analysis, then we thought we'll just try to get a urine sample outside to cover everything. The vet had a look and said there was blood in the urine. So she's getting a urine analysis done as well. I won't get any results back until Monday, so I've got all weekend to worry about what could be wrong. Sarge is an 11 year old desexed Chinese Crested male. He only eats preservative-free food. Could someone tell me what blood in the urine could be indicative of?
  7. Thinking of you today as you're reunited with your furkids . Too bad little Chichi won't be able to join in on the excitement, hopefully you'll get to see the little guy very soon.
  8. Poor Buster, and poor you! . Sending healing vibes to the little guy. Hope things get sorted soon. How lucky that you have insurance for him!
  9. Gorgeous Louis! . He looks so handsome
  10. So glad to hear that the problem has been found! . Hopefully the bone will have been dislodged by tomorrow :D . Buster sounds like a great little guy! I've recently swapped vets myself, if you're not happy with the care and/or information you're getting from your current vet then definitely look around for a different one. You've only got one Buster, and he should have the best health treatment possible with a vet you have confidence in ;) . Hope all goes well tomorrow
  11. Hope Sam is recovering okay :D . Were they doing a biopsy on the lump?
  12. Oh no, I'm very sorry to hear this news dogmad . Your dear old girl is pain free and at peace now. Hugs to you :D. Hope you're okay. eta ... And thank you Jadesamara for sharing your story. It brought a tear to my eye
  13. Any news on Buster? Hope the vet has found the problem and the little guy is okay :D
  14. Thanks Missmoo, I think the dose of Previcox may have been what tipped Pepper over the edge as well. Yes, I'm researching everything I can get my hands on to make sure that Pepper has the right foods for her condition. She happily ate the Hills k/d with her TT roll last night, and I've just had the calcium/vit D3 powder delivered, so will start that tonight as well. Thank you Rappie, I really appreciate you taking the time to give your opinion ;) Thanks spottychick, will pass on the hugs tonight. I think both Pepper and Banshee (pancreatitis) are feeling a bit better, they were both full of kisses and being a bit silly this morning :D
  15. Thanks Rappie ;) These are the results from Pepper's blood test that were outside of the normal range The USG (look at me learning new medical terms) was extremely dilute. Just out of interest, if you were Pepper's vet and saw these particular results, would you suggest or prescribe anything different to what I'm currently doing?
  16. Thanks for adding your input and experience Rappie. Pepper's creatinine is 0.19, I'm not sure what BUN means, would it be in the test results? We'll be doing fortnightly urine tests, pretty sure it's the dipstick one, is that what you mean by urinalysis? you'll have to tell me what USG is. In the last sentence, do you mean that you think Pepper should have blood taken each time she has the urine test done?
  17. Here you are Persephone ... My sweet old gremlin girl, Pepper
  18. Thank you stormie. I'll speak to the vet tonight about whether Pepper needs medications or other suppliments
  19. Wow! I can just see the big smile on your face! :D . How wonderful for you to see Mick running around pain-free. I will keep the little guy in my thoughts and prayers and hope for a continued recovery
  20. Thanks perrin, hope your dog is okay and you find the answers you need.
  21. Urea 30.6 (normal range 2.5-10.0) Creatin 0.19 (normal range 0.05-0.15) Glucose , serum 1.7 (normal range 3.3-6.8) CA:P ratio 1.1 (normal range 1.2-3.0) All other biochemistry was in the normal range. Haematology was normal except for platelet count which was 630 (normal range 200-500) No medication prescribed. She's still on antibiotics from her impacted anal gland wound. Is the Ipakitine a vet prescription or a suppliment that I can buy elsewhere? I like the idea of a suppliment that binds the phosphorus. Phosphorus is my enemy now
  22. Very sweet of you to find it for me stormie, thank you
  23. Thanks Stormie, I'm just glad they're with me and I can help to reduce their pain now. The vet nurse gave me a recipe that they had on hand, but as well as ground beef, rice, egg and calcium carbonate, it also contained 3 slices of bread, so I wasn't real keen on that one. I'm happy to go with pre-made foods as long as they're preservative-free and not too high on the corn and wheat. I've also ordered a calcium and vitamin D3 suppliment for Pepper which will be here tomorrow. Do you and your vet think that with the Tucker Time roll, renal dry food and the suppliments, that I've covered everything that Pepper needs?
