Click to see Fido's Funhouse 1st birthday pics (for those who don't know, 'Fido' is my pet food shop, and amazingly, we've been going for one year now ) We had a fun (and exhausting ) day! There were a few glitches to start with... the photo lady had a crippling migraine, the nail clipper lady had gastro, and 3 people who were having stalls were also sick , so they couldn't make it. Probably just as well though because it was all I could do to keep up with what we had going on for the day as it was Good news is that the pet photo deal is going ahead this Saturday instead I'm surprised that there weren't any traffic accidents, the GAP dogs and SADR dogs were quite a spectacle along the sidewalk in front of the shop, not to mention 'Fido' prancing up and down the sidewalk waving to the traffic! Lots of honks, waves and smiles from the traffic though Big thanks to Kelpiehoundmum and her kids who were a great help, the girls set up and manned the kids' table, and Paul was off in the dog suit!

Happy birthday cutie pie Boomer!! -
Sending prayers and healing vibes for your two dogs Based on the experienced advice from other DOlers I'd be at another vet straight away. It sounds like a very critical situation. I hope they are okay, they will be in my thoughts all day.

Glad to hear that Dana is doing well . One of my dogs, Banshee, has pancreatitis. She can have the TuckerTime roll (all varieties), Nutro Lite tinned food and Vet’s all Natural premium choice. For dry food she has Nutro Natural Choice Lite. I compared the Nutro to all the other dry foods, including prescription dry foods, and it came up trumps. She does really well on it in combination with the wet foods. She has about 2/3 wet food and 1/3 dry food. A few of my customers have dogs with pancreatitis and all are doing well on combinations of the above products For treats Banshee can have Supercoat lite biscuits, Eukanuba low fat biscuits, dried roo, beef cubes, dried fish, and a few others I can't remember at the moment. I won't chance ANY bones with her, including necks, but we've recently been trialling the Nutradent toothbrush thingies (not Greenies or Dentabones) and she's had no problems. She is also good with the rawhide cigars and cut up veggie ears. She also has the Vets all Natural Medi treats once or twice a day, they're like a doggie multi vitamin and have a kangaroo meat base with a bunch of natural suppliments. She also drinks heaps of water, naturally that's available 24/7 :D Hopefully there's some ideas for you in that lot

Not sure if Madeline and I will be there, depends on whether I have any energy left after Fido's party on Saturday. Here comes some blantant self promotion ... Saturday is Fido's 1st birthday and we're having a party at the shop. See website Homepage, left side, scroll down a bit www.FidosFunhouse.com.au for more info. Still happy for people to come and take turns prancing about anonymously in the Fido dog suit (payment in dog food )

Spottychick, I often think as far as crazy dog people go, we seem quite alike , but when I saw your video I couldn't believe that you sound exactly like me when I hear myself on video! We talk to our dogs the same way too . And then I heard you call Pepper 'Peps'. That's what I call my Pepper too ... as well as Peppy, Pep peps and Pepster ;) All three dogs look terrific! What a great job you're doing Loved the story with Rusty too -
Oh you beat me to it D4DOGZ  . Someone just sent this to me and I was going to share it with other DOLers. I'm still smiling after watching it. Love, love, love it!!

What Is She!? And Whats Wrong With Her Skin?
yellowgirl replied to Megs's topic in General Dog Discussion
You could try some baby jumpsuits, I think they're called 'onesies'. Just cut out some holes to make room for the tail and the boy bits Hey Megs! How's lovely Xena going? . Any improvement in her skin? I have her as the 'featured dog' on my website as part of our fundraiser ( http://fidosfunhouse.com.au/help_this_dog_44.html ) We've had 2 donations already! I'll keep her up for next month as well and send the donations on to you at the end of the month -

Well you have named him already lol :D Guess who..? - Tango? You get first prize!!! I am stunned at what's going on around here. I can't get any work done LMAO but these dogs are truly amazing. Tango sends mixed signals unfortunately but he is constantly looking for Dylan and grabbing his leg while snarling at him, barking in his face, hurling a piece of material around and running away with it or chasing Dylan down the corridor. Then I looked out the back and they had one end of a dog towel each playing tug with Tango dragging the pup down the back steps hahahahahahaha Then Dylan found a dog toy and Tango grabbed it off him so the pup latched on to one end of it. tango snarled and carried on but his tail was wagging and the two of them disappeared out the back door with the toy between them. He is currently "talking" to the pup with this wierd sound - a cross between a bark and whine. I DO wish Tango would shut up!!! Pepper meanwhile is generally staying out of the way of the lunatics. But I did have all three dogs simultaneously leap up on the bed first thing this morning to wake me up. None of them seemed the least bit concerned about the others. Tango barked in my face and playfully grabbed my hand with his teeth (he's NEVER done that before hahahaha) while Pepper wagged her tail and moaned and tried to snuggle under the quilt and the pup just kept leaping about randomly on everyone until I couldn't stand it anymore and got out of bed. I think I have multiple bruises on my stomach!!! They're all nuts. Loving the updates Spottychick! -

Ams, if Sid is around the same size as my crew (35-40cm long) I can post you some pjs that I made for them last year. They're not exactly boutique quality as they were my first try at making them :D , but they're warm and snuggly and have good coverage. -
Thanks so much for your support guys, every single post has helped . Thank you :D I know I'm doing the right thing for my girl. As opposed to her previous life, Bansee now knows real love and security and has many people who care about what happens to her ... and four special people who actually want her to be part of their family. She will continue to blossom. And unlike her previous owner who couldn't wait to be rid of her, she has someone who will miss her and shed a tear for her when she leaves Thank you again for letting me share her journey with you, and for your support as I prepare to let her go to the next stage. xxx

Oh, I forgot to add this gorgeous picture of Banshee that Justice Shades took of her last week ....

So far Banshee's had several visits and playdates with her prospective family and this weekend she had a sleepover with the mum Hubby and the kids were away for the weekend and the mum asked if she could spend some time with Banshee. I thought it was a good idea, so she picked Banshee up from the shop on Saturday afternoon. When she came in I had two customers in the shop and Banshee was a little bit reserved with them. As soon as the mum came in and Banshee recognised her, the mum bent down and Banshee ran over to her with huge excitement, jumping on her and showering her with kisses . She was so happy to see her that she even peed a little bit with excitement (Banshee that is, not the mum ). She brought Banshee back Sunday evening and everything had gone really well :D . The family also has a Devon Rex cat, and although he and Banshee are still working out what the other funny looking creature is, they are both able to be in the same room with no major dramas. Banshee's not fussed by the cat. The cat is a bit confused at the moment and is doing the whole puffing up thing when Banshee looks at him, but he's usually very friendly, and I think they will end up being friends (I took Banshee to their home about a week ago and was there when we first introduced her and the cat to each other). On the downside, by 9 o'clock Saturday night I wanted to cry I missed Banshee so much . When the mum brought her back on Sunday I was really good and didn't fuss Banshee, just said hello to her and gave her a pat when she'd settled down. That was hard, but the behavourist said it was important to do it that way and she's absolutely right. Banshee settled right back in as if she'd never been away . The family is moving this weekend, so we're thinking that sometime in the week after might be a good time for Banshee to go to them. They want her asap She just adores the family and I know they'll be able to give her the extra attention and exercise she needs. It's hard, but it does feel right . Apparently they've already got Banshee on their face book page :D I was hoping I'd still be able to see her sometimes. With my other fosters/re-homes I was able to let them go more easily. I think I got more attached to Banshee because I thought she'd have to stay with us and I let myself fall in love with her. I'd love to have her visit me in the shop every now and then. If I do what the behaviourist tells me, it should be okay for Banshee to have occasional visits shouldn't it?

I was inspired to start this fundraiser by Megs post about her foster dog Xena, a Chinese Crested x Dachshund girl. I want to do more to help rescues and foster carers, so I've started a 'Help this dog' page on my website and am factoring it in with my 'Dog Sponsor' idea. Please have a look and let me know what you think http://fidosfunhouse.com.au/help_this_dog_44.html I'm going to add other dogs in rescue and foster care to the page that people can sponsor, and there will be one featured dog each month. At the end of each month I'll forward the donations to the group or carer of each dog that's been sponsored. They'll receive 100% of the donations and 10% from the proceeds of the shirts. I'm happy to have any input or other ideas you may have on how to improve the page, raise more awareness, and get more dogs sponsored I'll pop this into the Rescue section as well and see if the foster carers there would like me to add any of their dogs.

Glad to hear things are going well SC! As others have said, it can take a bit of time for every one to settle down I can relate to not knowing how things will pan out long term. I took Banshee in as a foster, then thought because of her behavioural and medical issues she couldn't be re-homed so I thought she'd be permanent, then someone fell in love with her, understands her needs, and wants to adopt her! I'm still confused ! When I feed my lot, everyone has to sit in a line and I start at one end, say the dog's name and put down the bowl. There's no alpha order, it goes in order of when they came to live here. They sit in that order every meal time.. Maddie, Sarge, Pepper, Banshee ... like Jersey cows who go to the same milking station each time . No one's allowed to go for the other dogs' bowl, they can eat from their own bowl when it's placed in front of them. They can go to each other's bowls when they've finished, but when the bowls go down they only eat from their own. I found this a great way to minimize any mucking around at feeding times when you've got more than one or two dogs xxx
