Most time, when I am busy trying to change my bloody numbers, the steward are usually busy trying to get my attention to get in the ring, that most times, I don't bother changing them! Talk about novice!! I also watched others and stand there thinking "How the hell do they change numbers so easily and slide them behind others!"
-
Now you have my interest! I have found the website, and got a fantastic photo or two that Biju Photography have done for me, I may email! Thank you! I just don't like my arm band, as I am having to keep wrestling it to change numbers

Hi, could someone please tell me where I can buy the brooch that has a clip that you can clip the number in? Looking for either a Min Pin or Dobermann, my mum used to have one years ago, but doesn't have it anymore, so where would I look or who can I contact to purchase one of these from? Thank you to whoever can help! Never mind, found one on ebay, took me quite a while, but I found the right word I needed to search, and coming from the UK, so just gotta wait!

I've PM'ed you what I remembered as I forgot to bring my catalogue home! Lol

I can confirm the refusal of challenge as I was one of those handling! There was only one bitch on the day and got Challenge and BOB. There was only 3 dogs in the line up as some was scratched, and yes it was supposed that they were the incorrect type but did like one of them. Pretty disappointing but the judge made that decision and we just had to accept the explanation given!

BIG: Pom, RUBIG: Smooth Chi Baby was Havanese, Minor was Trotter's pug, puppy was Cav That's all I saw

Anyone know which group got Baby in Show please? Thanks!

I have in the past where I didn't do any good under a few judges, but decided to give them a benefit of a doubt and give another entry. Funny thing, under one, my dog went on to get Best of Breed! But there have been a few judges that will be never getting an entry from any of my dogs for as long as I show, based on a few things . At one show I did, my dog worked very well around the ring, but instead got placed 2nd over a dog that refused to work in the ring or stand on the table! I got told by a few that my dog got robbed of that class! But as I said to them, that's showing for you and that's the way it goes! There has been a few cases, when my dog had to go back for Reserve, but before I even set foot in the ring, the decision was already made! The judges are supposed to verify to make sure there was no dog that had to go back before awarding the Reserve Challenge! I won't enter judges that also shown no interest in any of my dogs, it defeats the purpose of paying another roughly $12 per dog for a judge that never looked at the dog! I will enter judges that I have found to be really good, or will give a second chance or enter with my future dogs! I'd like to think I have been incredibly lucky so far and a lot of judges I have come across have been really good and enjoyable to show under. I noticed about the mention of smaller entries, I have been fortunate enough to show at KCC where the entries for Toy Group was hovering about 100-120! However most of those judges actually have been fantastic and I noticed too they had more time to speak to exhibitors about some things, I remember one judge mentioned to me about handling my Min Pin and giving some advice to help handle them better! I'd sometimes often wonder why some of the judge after the show is not garnering enough entries! Perhaps maybe they were too honest of a judge that actually judges the dog?

I tried to book an accomodation for a 3 day show at the end of august! One was fine until you utter the words dogs and dog shows! The conversation ended very quickly!! I am left with one now but it's booked out, so I'm left with hoping for cancellation! :-/

I have only been showing for nearly two years now with my Min Pin. It *took* me a long time to get the handling down pat! For nearly a year of showing, I have went through hundreds of handling style, methods, ideas, etc etc! Short lead, long lead, move fast, move slow, move very slow, correction chain, martingale, loop leads! Combine all those into many different outcome! I even saw the DVD of one of our specialty, and his 3rd show, and I was like "God he was bloody awful in that!" I've had about one or two show lessons, but it one one day, my mum was speaking to someone who used to breed and show Min Pins a long time ago, and we went through different movements and different paces, and I got some really valuable advice that day from her and I was very appreciative! That was the day he went 8 Points Best of Breed, Intermediate in Group! It's amazing what a chat with someone who *knows* the breed and give very valuable advice! Soon after, he went to pick up Multiple Best of Breed wins and picked up another Class in Show win at Specialty Level! Even at a Fun Day (Like a Member's Comp for the breed), he went Runner Up Best Exhibit of the Day! It does take quite a while to get the idea and find the best handling method, I have some babies at the moment, so it definitely strange handling babies and teaching them to mould them into the Min Pin I currently show! I can tell you, it's already proving to be a challenge! My other advice is probably to watch other handlers, and how they free stack their dogs, particularly if they are small breed! They were my inspiration into freestanding my Min Pin, and I am teaching the pups how to do that at the moment! I like them to eventually be able to place all four feet where they should be and watch me or the food the entire time . Good luck with starting to show soon! It'll be worth the while when you finally understood, but you still always learn new things and advice!

The Shep grounds are a death trap, thay are so hard to run on and so many people hurt them selves on Sat it was not funny. I've never shown past Bulla before, and it was my first show at Shepparton, I initially thought the ground wasn't so bad, but after a day there, I found it uneven, that I had trouble keeping my balance! That one thing that got to me though was how hard the ground was, especially to peg the gazebo down! It's like trying to hammer the pegs into the concrete! I had even more trouble trying to get the pegs out! I resorted to yanking my gazebo to help pull the pegs and using 2 pegs to pull the other pegs out! I think I'll stick to my side of Melbourne for showing from now on! lol

What Makes A Show/s Popular With You?
Tambaqui replied to poodlefan's topic in General Dog Discussion
I am definitely on board what everyone says about Judges! Definitely likes a Judge that knows what they are looking for and understand every breed standard! I think a great day can one one where the judge are very friendly and seem to thoroughly enjoy their appointment and are confident about their choices! I also tend to prefer more local and interstate judges, as I have found a good chunk of international judges decision seems to be all over the place and some I have found to waffles over their choices! Another thing is fantastic steward! There is a few I have come across that always has a smile on their face and would always talks to anyone! When both Judges and Stewards both work together and has a lot of fun, it makes the entire day more enjoyable, especially when you go into the ring! A recent show I did last month was a great show! I believe a steward should make sure the judges are CLEAR on their decision!! One show I just did gone left me baffled as the judge was not clear on his decision, I saw him point to my dog and said "That dog" and then proceed to shake the other exhibitor's hand was awarded for the class. Sun and Outdoors show! It almost like a day of camping watching everything at the ring side from the gazebo! I also like doing a few shows over one weekend, especially 2! Country shows absolutely! Especially easy driving distance! I think there should be a show down Dromana or Rosebud way!! A show by the beaches! I definitely agree on surfaces at the show! The last 2 country shows I did at Warragul and Bunyip left me out of breath when I got to the ringside and got to my car with all our stuff! Gotta tell you some shows certainly like to give their exhibitors a work out!!! I even thought I lost weight I had to tighten my belt up a bit more! Food and Hot Chocolate!! --------------------------------- Curious question about Victorian Shows, How come we don't have a lot of "Cluster shows" like NSW and SA where they have 3 or 4 shows over a weekend? Particularly down at KCC? Is it due to excessive entries or is it just the way it is? It'd be nice to have 3 shows on every weekend, and leave the option open to either enter or not! ;) -
Champion Class- Should We Have A Seperate Class?
Tambaqui replied to Stolzseinrotts's topic in General Dog Discussion
I agree with others along the line of "Don't fix what ain't broken"! I haven't shown for very long, and I think personally after reading what other says of overseas method of awarding points and title, I'd like to think we are very lucky with what we have! It could easily be worse where gaining "Championship" Title would be difficult say by for example... winning Best in Group only! I can speak for one of my dogs, that got his title with little or small competition of less than 10 points! However looking back, he has beaten dogs that was awarded Best in Show at Specialty Level and even Best of Breed at Royal levels, and it doesn't happen often, but there have been judges that liked my dog and put him up! He has on numerous occasions where he was "put up" over champions. I have even been in a position where the bitch challenge was unfortunately refused and my dog was ended up awarded Best of Breed! But ultimately that is the judges choice and I am sure every judges know they have their rights to refuse challenges where applicable. Granted my dog is yet to beat a Grand Champion! Probably the only one in the breed to yet do it! Having a "Champion" and "Grand Champion" Class defeats the point, and isn't that the point of open shows? To allow untitled dogs to compete for Best Dog/Bitch and Best of Breed, but that is probably why there is a lack of open shows as there is no points on offer so people decided to stop going instead! It is possible to beat titled dogs, whether it's in the breed or for Class in Group/Show, you just need a dog as other says that conforms to the standard and a for a judge that likes your dogs! If my dogs has no competition on the day and gets 6 Points Challenge/BOB, then great! If they have competition, you can only do what you can, after all you are taking your dog home, win or lose knowingly that you and your dog have given all their best to perform in that very ring! -
I just saw from the distance, and pretty sure it's right BIG West Highland Terrier and RUBIG Was the Staffy

Talking of flying dogs and such, If say, I want to consider doing a specialty held at Erskine Park, and will fly my dogs, is there a way of getting from the airport to the show grounds without driving yourself? I am just curious as to know if it's possible as I am not good when it comes to driving in unfamiliar places! How does everyone do it? Thought I ask!

Could I please ask whose the Min Pin that got Puppy in Group at the PM show and who the Baby GSP that went in show at Noorat? Thanks in advance!

Do you have Adobe Flash installed Entourage? I think Internet Explorer relies on that to view those type of documents!
