  1. I think both are just as important as each other! You'd want your dogs to do well at both level! I'd like to think a Class in Group win is almost as equivalent as a Class in Show at Specialty Level, the only difference is your dog is competing against other breeds in the same group of the same age. I own dogs that have won Classes in Show at Specialty Level and Classes in Group at All Breeds Level.
  2. No numbers yet, but yes Weisnjac I realized and checked the November gazette so no access to Pavillon until December! So outdoors, rain, hail or shine! (Hopefully shine! HAHA)
  3. I agree with the generosity of the cash for Class in Group! I was gobsmacked when I opened both envelopes to see how much was in it! Very much appreciated of the club! The ground was PERFECT! Much better than 2 years ago when I shown there for the first time. Bit sadden to hear of the relocation! We had puppy pens and used chalk, but when we packed up the area we were set up was spotless and left the way it was when we first got there. I agree about the gate entry, we had a strategy, and we took all the stuff and dumped them at the fence and once we got them all there, we then took all the stuff to the car and packed it up! Fair hike yes, but good work out! Helps me keep fit! Hopefully the ground at Churchill will be just as good as Morwell, but will give another entry next year!! Well done to the club for two days of fantastic shows!
  4. Group 1: BIG: Bichon (Same as yesterday) RUBIG: Crested male (Mohawk) Baby: Crested as well (Mine ) Minor: Maltese (Hoeksema) Puppy: Lowchen (Rondaglen) Junior: Griffon (I think) Intermediate or Aus Bred: Dunno for Intermediate, didn't see, Havanese was Aus Bred Open: BIG (RUBIG Was also Open as well) Edited: Havanese was Aus Bred, not Intermediate
  5. To also add, Puppy in Group 1 was also Min Pin! Both Happyecho Min Pins took Puppy in Group at this show and at Morwell/Traralgon! This was the second time it has happened! The first time, was at Albury (I think or close by) and Ladies Kennel Association at KCC both the same pups took their respective Minor Puppy in Group, however the Min Pin belonged to Happyecho Kennels was RUBIG at the time! Fantastic achievement for both these babies! It's probably rare too that something remarkable like this would happen at two separate shows at opposite end and to happen twice!!
  6. Group 1: BIG Bichon from Open (One of Tejada) RUBIG Papillon from Intermediate Baby Australian Silkie Minor Puppy ? Puppy My Min Pin Junior Bichon Intermediate RUBIG Aust Bred was Crestie (Chinacrest) Open BIG
  7. Like Pebbles, I also have a Chocolate and Tan Min Pin, and he has bleeched in the sun, but he hasn't lost his colour as bad, but then again he is a 4 times winner of Best Chocolate and Tan in a row! He is almost 3 years old, and probably one of the very few, Min Pin that still retain his dark chocolate coat! He has a preference to be indoors anyway, so he doesn't sunbath but I have found when playing with him that he had like a winter coat that was falling off in a sense, so I stripped him with a stripper and he seems to still has his dark chocolate coat on him, but you can still see his pale bleeching through his back but it's not as noticeable! No special diet, or anything, just the same meals as our other dogs. Edited to add: Forgot to add, to help keep his coat dark for the shows, I used to spray a bit of water on his coat, and then put a bit of Chris Christensen Silk Spirit on him, as it helps make their coat look fresh and brings the colour up and makes their coat look great! The bottle sizes for the silk spirit probably may not be enough for your Lab, it'd probably take 1/2 a bottle to do the job!
  8. Am staying home too, traveling up each day, about 2 hours drive! So getting up at 5am, and leaving at 6am! It's not a far drive and not worth forking out extra $$$ to stay in a room just for the distance and it's only 2 days, not 3!
  9. can't help with more results ... but its the young Pap that's shown by Stephanie Rickard (co-owned with breeder Chris Johns) Thanks!
  10. Haven't got mine yet but I sent one cheque for both dogs and it was cleared soon after I posted it!
  11. Anymore Group 1 Results please? Also out of curiosity, whose Papillon does it belong to?
  12. Haven't got my numbers yet, but my cheque for this show was cleared on 1st of October, so 26 days ago!
  13. I also handle other dogs and help out at ringside for those who needs help with multiple dogs. I don't charge anyone for it, I do it because I want to learn about the other breeds and handling and and I just enjoy the thrill when dogs I handle do well, I love to learn and would take any opportunity to handle new breeds! A Lowchen I handled went Best in Show at a Specialty Open Show (Over 30 dogs entered I think) a while back, so just to see the dog do so well and come out on top is just rewarding enough for me, I may not get to take home fringies or prizes, but I just do it for the experience and enjoyment of what showing is about! Just to see his owner face being so happy about it, is just priceless! It's just depend on who is handling an what do they like to gain out of handling for other people.

  16. Same, got mine last week as well!
  17. Correct me if I am wrong, but the Melbourne Royal has a Rosette for 1st Place in the class, Best of Breed and Puppy in Breed. There is a sash for Reserve Challenges. For 2nd and 3rd, it's only a red and white ribbon.
  18. No worries Sharon - we lost interest when we were told by at least 3 parking officials that the racecourse gates opened at 8.30/9am. One person had no idea and directed us to someone else and he said the same thing. Yes we got the booklet that said 7am - the gates were still closed when we went past the last time and there was no one in sight. Had we known to wait at the gates we would have - no problems. The other exhibitors that we spoke to told us where to park, we were knocked back by all - it was those parking attendants that said about the gate times and not to park any where or risk fines and towing. No idea why the other exhibitors didn't just tell us to wait at the gates, perhaps they did not know about it either. Glad no one else has had any issues and good luck to those still going. I heard that the gates were opened at 6am yesterday - is that right? My breed was on the day and yes the gates opened at just after 6am, about 6:15 I think, and we just walked in with out trolley to wait but they opened up, so we were able to get in early! No issues or dramas, and gates attendant was nice allowing us to wait just outside the dogs section gate until it opens.
  19. Best Baby Puppy of Breed 481 - Mrs L Howlett-Trahar: WYNTERVALE WEDNESDAY ADDAMS :cheer: Congratulation LOTG. Why thank you :) Super excited that India aka Satan won Bitch CC... yay! Congrats to everyone today... worth the wait! It was definitely worth the wait!! Today was a lot of fun, plenty of rosettes and fringies!! Well worth the wait! The old saying "Good things comes to those who wait" lol!
  20. Bugger! I nearly got caught out on this show, I was just having a look through the gazette to check the closing dates, and I managed to post the entries off with 5 days to spare! You could ring and ask if they will accept your late entry and maybe say you have a neuter to enter, doesn't hurt to ask!
  21. Actually dogs are allowed on trains and trams: http://www.metlinkmelbourne.com.au/using-public-transport/animals-on-public-transport/ It is providing that the dogs are under control. If I am needed to go back to the Royals for General Specials and have no alternative of getting there, I'll be catching a train and tram and will have my Min Pin with me in a small crate . I don't need much with me, just the show lead, and grooming product to get him ready! For tram, you just need to catch tram 57 from Elizabeth Street, providing that the train stops at Flinders St Station. If you have a small breed, it's a hell of a lot better than the stress of parking, and and walking such distance, and the nightmare peak hour traffic traveling home! Train ride is only an hourish and tram is 25 minutes, but at least my parking will be outside a station when I return! Edit to add: If you are lucky enough to get a crate with wheels you can apparantly buy from the Reject Shop (I'm still looking for one!), you can just pull the handle out and wheel your dog around!
  22. Happened to me as well, my Min Pin was not shortlisted for group at one show, and ended up going on to get Intermediate in Group over a dog that was shortlisted! Flabbergasted to say the least, it was the last thing I expected as I was 100% sure the dog was going to get it as this Italian Greyhound has done very well and am a fan of that dog!! It was a day I will never forget!
  23. Yes I do know not everyone uses the pointscore or do not participate for their own personal reason, and I'm not asking to overhall the system, but more an option, almost similar Members Show Results, but you actually see the recent pointscore submission for the particular breed. You could also have option for group, or maybe show. So for example if no pointscores was submitted, but there was shows on, then you could assume a dog that is not entered in the pointscore competition would've probably won BOB, but if those who are in entered in it and won BOB, the results would actually be there for everyone to see. You might even see if they won the Group or even Classes in Group or show. Sometimes I like to know who has done well Min Pins, and who won the breed and if any went further to claim the group or show, and I am sure plenty others would like to know about their own breed they show, so all I am saying, it's just an option where you can see the results for the breed, and even how many was entered, or based on next years pointscores, how many challenge points they earned. Whereas posting in the thread, the best you would know is the breed who won the group and the imagination is yours, unless someone has further information as to who owns the dog. Again, I am just thinking of other options where those who want to know who won at what show but maybe rely on the pointscore.
  24. I think this would be great! However I am wondering, couldn't we use the pointscore part of the site as a way of knowing who won what at the shows? Like sometimes what I do is check some dogs who I think might have entered a particular show to see who won BOB or RUBOB on the day for the particular breed. So I was just wondering, couldn't we have a page or something that shows recent results or points added, so we know who has done well and what show they won at? Even if it's incorporated in the breeds page, that everyone can click on the particular breed and the recent results added on the pointscore would be there for everyone to see. Just thinking out loud! I know it's not immediate results, but it some sort of result that most would be able to see and is it all possible for this to happen?
  25. I agree, I did a show recently where 8 dogs was dogs was shortlisted, and she judge sent the non-shortlisted around a circle once and said thank you and we may leave! But instead, we all had to stay in the ring after being advised that we would disqualify our dogs if we left the ring, so we all stay there, but thankfully a minute later she already shaken hands with the BIG and RUBIG winner! Speaking of hot days, I remember one international judge that shortlisted her group, that those that were not shortlisted all just jumped the ring rope and left the ring and didn't want to hang around, and the same ended up happening for most classes in group! But another international judge, even though she shortlisted that day, the ones that weren't shortlisted still stayed in the ring for the duration of the group and most still had their dogs stacked! I think it came down to the judge on the day, and if the judge had respected the exhibitors and gave their dogs a chance on the day. But yes I agree, that even if your dog don't get shortlisted, I did agree with Pav Lova, that you paid your $10 (or ever much) and you had your look, and got your challenge points and if you won any rosette/fringies/ribbon for BOB, then you already won and had an opinion given to you regardless of how you went for the group! It does get disappointing when you don't get shortlisted, and I've yet to have a dog that I've handled be shortlisted yet! But I'm hoping one day that it will happen! But one of my Min Pin came so close to being shortlisted at a recent show, I was just waiting for that judge to point, but it didn't happen! But yes, if the judge does not have your dog in mind for the Group, I reckon the rule should allow us to leave, so we don't need to waste time trying to keep the dog stacked for the judge full well knowing that your dog is not a contender!
