  1. I hope Group 1 is outside! I don't usually like being indoors and so does Clancy! It'd be nice for some fresh air, grass surface and a beautiful day!
  2. My Minor in Group Sash is my best prize so far! I got $15 in cash for this, and I jokingly said to mum "Well I got my money back for Clancy's Entry!"! Been wanting to win one just to prove to mum that I can do it as well! (She has done well and got few in groups award with a Dobermann about 10+ years ago) At the United Pinscher and Miniature Pinscher show, I got some amazing rosettes! For Minor in Breed (At UPCoV), one of the Rosettes was donated by Flashfire Min Pins from Texas US! I also got some drinks placemat, and a packet of worming tablets for the dogs My first Challenge and Best of Breed, I've kept the ribbons as it was pretty big compared to the ones you see at most shows!
  3. Got mine! 300 TOYS!!!! I'll be absolutely sleep deprived after this weekend! Gonna be a loooooong day for sure! lol
  4. Who barked most of the time during the best in group! BIG For Group 1 was the Pug (From Puppy) RUIG was the Cav Baby was the Pug (Elaine and Trevor) That's all I saw Fantastic day at the show! To the van who supplied the sausage sizzle..... THANK YOU! Nice to eat something that was bbq'ed!
  5. Great Idea! Gives you a focus after the champion title! But I'm confused, are they going to give you the "Bronze Champion" Title? or is there going to be another naming for it? Like Bronze Champion [Dog Name], especially if you use it on DogzOnline or Dogs Papers/Magazine/Website. What about catalogue, would they just refer to Aust Ch or Bronze Ch? Am I just over thinking or analyzing? I'm just curious to learn more about these new awards! -Michael
  6. I don't have mine with me, but There is only about 670 I this show I think and toys has 126. So not a very big one!
  7. I am entered! Only live about 30-40 minutes from Lang Lang! Finally an outdoor show after last week! lol Can't wait!
  8. Well deserved may I add! She was being so serious and fully concentrating! Berry is absolutely cute! Can't wait to see her in some more shows! :D
  9. I own a Mitsubishi Lancer I originally had a big trolley, but since I now own a Min Pin, I sold that and brought a smaller one from k9 antics. I got a good $$$ as I also had the kennel mat and the trolley cover included. Best of all, it fits in the boot of my car! So does the chairs and the gazebo! The big trolley couldn't fit into my boot, so I had to lift it up into the backseat of my car. It was bloody heavy! If the show sells show trolley, you could ask them if you could try some trolley into the boot of your car. I am sure they'll be happy to do it!
  10. BIG and RUIG for Group 1 went to ...... Papillions! Left the owner in shock may I add as she owned both of them! Not a bad effort! It was good when she was watching her dog and then the judge draped the sash over her shoulder! I don't think she expected it! Over both Friday and Saturday Minor in Group went to Maltese and Puppy in Group went to the Pug (I'm pretty sure it would be the same Pug). Friday night BIG is Cavs and RUIG is Pug One more show to go! But boy I am so tired I slept for about 3 hours so far and Clancy decided that its a good idea to try and wake me up a few times by jumping on me and licking my face! He probably thinks the show is finished, but wait til tomorrow!
  11. United Pinscher Club of Victoria! Had a lot of fun last year and the judge was fantastic and patience when Clancy was checking to see if he has gotten her where he wanted! The other reasons, the prizes are so amazing, it is worth it just to turn up and give it a shot! I mean the BIS winner gets a crate, a bling lead, a massive rosettes, trophys! Just enough to fill your entire trophy display! I am going to try and enter the Royals! But one problem.... I refuse to drive there! ;) I am hoping to do Min Pin Champ shows, maybe a Toy Specialty and I love to do some absolute big ones like the Lilydale Pot of Gold Show! It's the atmosphere and wanting to be a part of it!
  12. I read in the Gazette for January on the front page from the President and he said; "Looking ahead, members can expect to see some exciting changes to our website design and new online capabilities in coming months" Sooooo..... we will continually wait for several more months? Looks like you're in a chance now Bilbo! lol I hope online capabilities means sending entries online and all we have to do is select the dog and pay for it! But hey! I'm dreaming lol!
  13. If its who I think you are talking about he was supposed to change but decided all to hot and difficult. It's certainly is!! A shirt saying "News Flash; I DON'T CARE!" :D Probably the best thing I've ever seen! Certainly a classic moment at a dog show
  14. I dunno if you are a guy, but I am guessing you are from your post. Oops! Don't think you're a guy! But I hope my post will still help! lol I usually just wear a nice shirt of some sort that is neat and tidy. When I go shopping, if I see something that is nice to wear at the show and at a reasonable price, I always buy them. I usually buy lots of green shirts as it's my favourite colour. When I first started showing, I wore jeans but I now wear a neat dress pants. They are very light and won't be stuffy, especially in hot weather. Since I show a Min Pin, I just wear my slip on shoes that I wear to work, but since you have a border collie and you'll need to run you may want to wear either runners or a dressy shoes but there are slip on runners around now so that may even make it easier! But I think as long as you're neat and tidy, but I did see an exhibitor at a show last night that wore a t-shirt, shorts and sandles! But at the end of the day, it's the dog being judged, but I was amused by it last night!
  15. I do have some goals for 2010! Firstly, I'd like to get Clancy titled sometimes, but it is personally hard to say if it this year or 2011. But I am hoping he will get it by the end of 2010, I would even be happy if he gets half way at 50 points. Any additional awards would be an absolute bonus, but my main intent is to keep going to the shows and have a great time with Clancy. Whether he does settle down and stop baiting instructors at obedience (Making them be scared of him on purpose! He is a little rascal! lol), I'd love to start trialling Clancy for CCD. I plan to expand my show team early next year and hopefully I'll have another baby to join our show team and hopefully with an attitude like Clancy as well! I will poke and prod my mum into trialling their Dobermann Tyler next year. He is so intelligent and such a brilliant boy at obedience. I will try and enter into the Royals next year. But I need to figure out how to get there with Clancy without driving there!
  16. Hi all, I have a camera but my mum and I are not all that happy with the camera, so I am wanting to do some research on getting a new camera and I am hoping you guys can please give me some advice and direction. There is a few things I am after. I am needing something light and point and take photos. When I take the photos, I want it to be done and in good quality straight away. I have Min Pins and they are buggers of a dogs to take photos! Been trying to take photos of Clancy but everytime a perfect shot happens, he moves and the camera is too late! So I need something good that will take good showy photos that I can use for my future website and Clancy's profile. Also the other thing I need is the ability to take photos of a night at the windows indoors. I am going to the Gold Coast in February again and I am intending to go back and adore the Q-Deck and adore the night life and take beautiful photos of it. The camera I took was so horrible it was blurry and it was a waste of a great view! I am not too worried about price range, but I think it's time I look for a good quality camera that will do the job quickly! Can anyone please recommend something?
  17. I can't wait to hear about your next baby! I love Min Pin babies! They're like little kangaroos hopping around and doing bits of hackney gait here and there! I was starting to wish I had shown Clancy at 3 months and wishing I had seen what he would do, but I started at 5.5 months and his ears were up and doing the manly strut almost like he is a fully fledge adult already! But Clancy tends to pull me around the ring as if he is in a big rush to get back to the judge! I bet you can't wait for your next baby and getting back into the ring again! Time will fly and you'll be there in no time! Sammy, if you're looking for gazebo, I'd recommend Oztrail . Fantastic, sturdy and easy to put up! -Michael
  18. Hi Deb! Thanks, I'm really excited and love working with Clancy! Clancy is loving the whole showing/obedience scene and that what makes it fun for the both of us! How is your Min Pin doing? How much points have you gathered so far? If you are looking for Min Pins Club there is the main Min Pin Club and there is another club where the Min Pins are associated called the United Pinscher Club of Victoria (It's for the Affenpinschers, German Pinschers and the Mininature Pinschers as well)! -Michael
  19. Where abouts? Oh... Everywhere I'm 20 mins from KCC so that's an easy one... but i've been to bendigo, ballarat, sunbury, lancefield and going to kyneton, ballarat (again) and Morwell in the next two weeks... oh and this Thursday i'm heading up to NSW for the Samoyed Champ show. hahaha! I'm loving summer shows, it seemed that through winter they're all at KCC park, so thats where the bulk of our first shows were.. but now that the weathers warming up it's really nice traveling! Today was our first outside show at KCC park, so much prettier What breed do you have?? Congrats to you and Fletcher! That is fantastic news ;) Clancy went Reserve Dog Challenge and he also had to go in for RUBOB but missed out! The judge was fantastic at group 1 and was even helpful when I had my dog stacked up wrong! But got a great comment saying Clancy was a beautiful dog I've met some more fantastic people at the show and had a great day! I was also a big fan of the Pekingese that went Runner Up in Group, as it just flopped there and it looked like a ball of wool attached to a lead! I'm about 10 to 15 Minutes away from KCC as well! I'm heading to Morwell in two weeks and I am trying to figure out how to fit everything in the car to bring along the Dobermann to show for my dad! My car will be so heavy! :D
  20. *waves* I am one as well showing a Miniature Pinscher! Although I don't show frequently and mostly showing at KCC park, but Clancy only had 6 Shows so far and picked up Minor in Group at his second show under a Min Pin Specialist Phillip Cross and his third show he picked up Minor in Breed and Runner Up Minor in Show (all with competition) at the United Pinscher Club of Victoria! So I'm very excited and happy with his progress and he is doing incredibly well! Here is the latest "stack" photo I have attempted and it! Mind you the lead he has on cost me $75! He is so full of himself, but he is an absolutely gorgeous boy!
  21. Will do! :D I am possibly rethinking about Bella's entries at the moment and dogdude, you make a good point about dogs with focus issue. Interestingly my parents brought it up and said to maybe give her a break for a while. So I will consider it after this weekend, but I don't think I will enter her as she can be unpredictable when she is not concentrating. So I will be entered but with the Dobermann Tyler and I possibly will be bringing my Miniature Pinscher, Clancy to this trial (I just love to bring him along as he loves going out and meeting new people and getting pats!)
  22. I'm doing my first trial next month at Southern Obedience Dog Club and will be entering my GSP Bella and my parent's Dobermann Tyler (I will be handling him as well for them)! Thank you for posting all those tips! and the next one, especially the first question as my little Bella is a perfect description of a major distraction and tend to not focus at time, so at least I now know how to avoid losing points on the heeling as some you have mention is what I have been doing! Tyler is the opposite of Bella, very switched on! But he gallops and then jumps on me on an off lead recall! So funny! But got 30 days to fine tune both of these babies for their first CCD trials! So excited! I'd take my Min Pin Clancy for the trial, but he is too immature for it! Everything is a game to him! lol With 2 weeks of obedience training at the club out due to Clancy's show, gotta start putting in some work at home!
  23. That's a bit sad to hear, and you're not the only one going through that phase ;). My little Bella (She is a GSP) and she is doing the same thing at the moment 10 months old and as of late she is not heeling well (The reason she failed the last Testing Day) and she is overly distracted and a mile away. Oftenly she'd be watching other classes or Agility action in the pen during training. I've tried correcting her a few times, but it didn't seem to work so I've stopped using that as it not helping the situation. I've also tried using the clicker, but see act like she is deaf or hearing impaired. I thought it would be the correction chain and tried the collar they use in the show ring thats made out of some sort of material, but she still act the same in terms of behavior and attitude. Before I used to be dependent on food, but after a while that did not help her behaviour, in fact I started to think I just reward her just a little too much and too often. I'm going onto the next stage and that is to use a biscuit sort of treat that they use in the show ring, and use that to kind of tease her along and encourage her to look forward to something (But instead she would not be rewarded straight away, but at the end of training) and I have it in my hand and left her follow the food in my hand in the position of heeling. I notice after today's practice that she was beginning to watch and was responding a bit quicker than normal. So I am going to stick with a positive reinforcement training using this method and let my GSP know that I have food reward available, and use it in order to encourage her to work closely with me. The past few weeks have been tasking for me and a bit emotional as I could not understand why and how she went from so eager and brilliant to acting dumb as a rock! So thats why I went through process of elimination and work out what made her click and switch on. But I just remembered she was driven by her obsession with food and keen to work for some sort of reward (She would not respond to vocal praises and pat), so I figured out today that I had the treats and tempt her into working thinking that there will be reward! I just hope that it won't eventually lead her to a further boycott if she realises it just another ploy of mine to get her to enjoy working! But knowing how smart she is and how I am investing so much emotion over it, she may try and test me further! So all I can offer to say is maybe take it trial by elimination and figure out if there is something you used that may have made your dog enjoy working and try that, or try different forms of training and see how that would go! I am going to work on my new idea for now leading up to Bella's first trial (Possibly in November). But if she eventually does her old trick again, I think I might give her a month break from training. I will take her down to training and all, but I won't train Bella and let her have a break and just enjoy an outing and let her realize the fun she is missing out on! But at the end of the day, my club breaks up next month I think, so I will cease training for a month (and maybe half) and let her enjoy a break and have fun with her companion Tyler and have some outing at the beaches and travel to some town down the coast.
