  1. Does anyone know who got Puppy in Show please? Thanks!
  2. Does anyone knows if it will be indoors or are we still showing outside? The weather forcast on BOM says mostly dry with a chance of shower or two. Thanks!
  3. I've just finished the lead for my Min Pin Clancy. It's a satin cord, 2mm and 1mm in diamond braid, I used a chunky beads to add some touch to it. It's at the moment about 2 metres, but I am just needing to work out how to do a nice handle. I put Clancy on this lead to let him test it for me, and he absolutely loved it! He kept jumping around showing his excitement! I hope to have it all done for the next show. I have also got a blue and red satin cord that I've purchased today along with this green one. They'll be matching my shirts ! lol
  4. I always let my Min Pin boys play while they are waiting for their turn or hug me. I let them have fun all the time and with Clancy, he'd often jump a bit as he leave the ring when he is not required! That is why I always found that he gets so hyper when he knows that he has a show on, as he wants to do it and does enjoy it very much! I also have a baby who is showing for the first time tomorrow and I will be doing the same and just let him have fun and enjoy it! That is a gorgeous pic Ellz! I love it when I see the judges treat the babies as they are, a little bundle of joy! The day Clancy got his first BOB, he did the same, he jumped on the judge for a cuddle while he was on the table and wagging his tail! I couldn't believe I was seeing a Min Pin do that! But I was lucky that day that the judge didn't mind him jumping on them, as I also found some that prefers them not to do it, so I always try and keep him settled on the table as he tend to go too far when the judges make a noise. GoldenWei, in my experience and only showing since September last year with Min Pins, you can always do what you feel comfortable doing, and I'm sure as you go along, you may find you want to do different things! I'm at the moment training a new baby Min Pin and he is very different to Clancy but now that I know what they can be like and learning so much from the breeder and other people who shows Min Pins. I do use food, but not so much now, but more of a bait to get their attention when they wander, but I am using it for my baby as he is very stubborn, toys won't work, dragging him around won't work either, so I'm left with food and will only move if I give him something! :D ------------------------------------ I also have a question, moreso a curiosity! Say your dog is 8 months, and you decided to put him/her into Junior Class. Does that mean you can't enter them in any classes below Junior anymore? (As in Puppy) Thanks!
  5. Could someone by any chance please tell me who judged Group 2, 5 and 6 last night? I've never seen any info on who the judges was prior to this comp, we had a replacement judge for Group 6 who also judged Group 2 and 5. If you know by any chance and be able to please tell me, that would be great! :D
  6. Mine came last Thursday Same, got mine about Thursday or Friday! For Sunday there is a lot of entries for toys which was split up in two groups (Pugs and Cavs are 1A). I know this show meant to have trainee judges involved so I'll be a nervous wreck as this is Benji's first show! If I thought Clancy was bad, I'd hate to think what Benji will do! I'm even still trying to get him to walk on a lead! I can't wait for this weekend, the weather should be fantastic for both days!
  7. Any group 1 or Min Pin Results please? So glad I didn't enter! Work wouldn't let me out until 12pm!
  8. I also second a Trolley and Gazebo! Every other stuff I just brought as I go along, I brought a fishing tackle box for my show stuff for my dogs like leads and other stuff. My trolley is divided into two, and I recently now have just expanded our team with a new edition, so we will take the divider incase the boys won't agree to sharing the trolley! I have seen some with so much stuff it amazes me with how much some takes to the show, my advice is just keep everything to a minimal. Only purchase/take things that you need and will use ! The less you have, the less effort you need to put in after a show packing up! The only thing we ever have to deal with at home is folding the roof to the gazebo!
  9. I would've been entered, but I'm heading for Sydney for a work conference! Good luck to everyone attending!
  10. Not sure who you are looking at Mystiqview, but I haven't started mine yet! lol Haven't have time to do it yet, been so busy this week! I just practiced like 2 cm worth, but I still don't know how I will do mine yet!
  11. Love that attempt so far! Since I had a little free time tonight, I've finally trying to figure out how to do a diamond braid and still not getting it, I came across this website: http://www.boondoggleman.com/prj_diamond_braid.htm I finally figured it out, so I did a bout 2 cm so far of it and really love love love the green show lead I've started! So I'm going to have to find a small round metal ring so the lead is extremely lightweight for my Min Pin and do an official attempt on it! If I'm successful, I might even use it for my next show! If I complete this lead, I might go back to Lincraft to look for some bling to add to this lead. I should sometime head into the Dandenong Market to see if they have any satin cords to work with, I remember seeing a stall that sells ribbons and things like that, but can't remember if they sold paracord or satin cords. But this thread now inspires me into starting Clancy's home made lead lol!
  12. I am in both shows! I don't understand why there is a lack of open shows! I'd be still happy to spend a small amount for these show! It's all for good fun and a chance for your dog to enjoy it!
  13. I have an upcoming baby puppy and entered him into 6 shows. I have his intent show name but no rego number yet, but I've had the go ahead to enter him. I did get this weekend show stuff, bu will need to pay $3 as he is the only baby puppy in my mums name (I didn't pay as I assumed it was not needed as both dogs live and reside with both of us).
  14. I've brought some cords yesterday from a Lincraft shop. I paid $12 for 3 of 3 metres of different satin cords! Now I just need some spare time to braid a nice green lead up, but I tried doing a diamond braid and I couldn't figure it out yet, but I may need to borrow my dad's clamp and practice on it!
  15. How many Min Pins in this Royal Please? Can you tell if any from Vic? If not, then its ok!
  16. Megz, sent a PM. I did some more research and found a couple, and now definitely have a rough ideas of how it is done. I may give it a try, as I loved doing art and craft stuff and I even once did a line stitch tapestry that my grandmother gave to my mum (Talk about boredom, but hey it gave me an A+ for my version of garfield in Textiles when I was in Year 7!)
  17. I'm with Meg! I'd love to try crafting my own lead and seen some leads others have made themselves, I'd want to try making one or two for my Min Pins to vary at different shows. I'm also interested in knowing what sort of beads are being used and how do you know they will fit to the paracords. I've googled to see if there is any lead making or crafting tutorials to make your own leads to no avail! I'd often see some beautiful leads, but because I just love green too much, I want to make a few green ones with green beads XD
  18. I live like 5-10 Min from KCC, so most of my shows are there! My work is also not far from here, so if I have days where I show and work, I'd like to think I am lucky that both are in close proximity of each other! The furthest I went to is Morwell and Bulla. I dislike Bulla, so will only do that for certain specialties only but I love shows out in the countries and so far done Morwell and Lang Lang and both were fantastic shows! I wished I've entered the Berwick Agricultural Show, but I am in Sydney for Work Conference!
  19. I also love the Pointscore competition! It is absolutely a lot of fun to do and to see how well your dog fares against many others around Australia! My little Clancy was tied #1 for Best of Breed Competition along with Aust Gr Ch Supacharm So This Is It, and this week I'm now down to 3rd place! It was a moment that made me so proud of my little boy, even though it was for a mere 2 weeks ! But my Min Pin Clancy is currently as of today is #1 Rising Star for Miniature Pinscher and #6 Rising Star for Toy Group in Victoria! I always enjoy putting in results and also watching how the other Min Pins do and also seeing how they did to get their points, whether it's BOB or in breed/in groups! I'd often stalk the page to see any Min pins results in Victoria and see who has BoB/RUBoB from the shows! lol Regardless of where Clancy placed at the end of the competition, I can walk alway knowing that we're a great team and enjoy going to the shows and enjoy the thrill of the competition with confidence! I think the competition is a great reward system in a sense to reward your dog and yourself based on their performance at the show :D
  20. Although I've only been involved in Min Pins for a short time, my favourite so far belongs to Jeanette Fenton and he goes by the name of Aust Ch Leoricia Made of Money! Dollar is just magnificant! His hackney gait is just to die for! It's so unique in a way that it just beautiful to watch, especially watching his rear move! My Min Pin does have a really nice hackney gait, but Dollar's makes me say "WOW"! Another of Jeanette that I've yet to see, but I hope to see one day is Wilooka It's For Real! Her blue colour is just rich quality blue colour, The blue colour is not very common and I haven't seen a blue that has a real deep almost dark yet hence I'm always hoping one day to see this little girl! Another Min Pin I've been seeing and also competing against with Clancy that I enjoy watching is one of Lisa Prior's Aust Grand Ch Supacharm So This Is It, I think the way Lisa works this guy on a long leash is just absolutely amazing! He really strides out and just struts! Although it's a small list, but I am starting to collect some ideas of how Min Pins should look and how they should work when they are around the ring, and those three above are just stand outs to me! I know of one from WA and South Australia that I love to see, but I've yet to see them in action!
  21. Havasneeze, I went through the same (sort of experience) with my Min Pin Clancy. His first Members Comp, the judge was so rough with him and went straight to his head with both of his hands that it freaked him out, he started to get really aggro and wouldn't let him near him (The judge that night told me to get the dog under control or else)! It was even worse for the in show award when another judge was visibly frightened of Clancy that he just gotten worse! But was really thankful that Lisa (Who also shows Min Pins as well) was there that night, she gave me some invaluable advice on how to handle Min Pins correctly! It left me in utter confusion as to how he went from being so arrogant and playful to this! I've even been told that Min Pins will embarrass you and even just recently saw other DVD's where other Min Pins embarrassing their poor owners! Even when I attended a show training lesson with Ashley Reid, Clancy wasn't even very nice to him that day! Now he is 10 months, I usually hold his head to check his teeth, but when the judge starts handling his body, I just let him go and stand in front of him with 100% of trust in him! I think with a lot of handling, in and out of the shows, he managed to be able to trust many judges after that and all! Many of the judges I've had recently was fantastic, and the judge at Lang Lang was drinking her bottle of water and he got a little concerned that she may hurt him, but he just completely let his guard down after the initial pat. I have found many judge to be different, some judge are very friendly, others just treat judging as part of a job, and some that probably don't have any interest. That member's comp has completely rattled my poor Min Pin ;), so that is why I've never been back and now just prefer judges at Champ shows to handle him as I feel that if they did get their license to judge, they must have had some experience with Min Pins and know how to handle them properly as well as many breeds. I personally think when it comes to puppies stages that the judges should be very understanding and positive towards them and allow them to be able to be comfortable and enjoy the show! Puppies shouldn't have to feel frightened or terrified, you'd want them to walk out of the ring with their head held high and tails wagging! So to the Netherlands judge who did the judging for Group 2 on Saturday Australia Day show at Bulla, a for trying to help that poor staffy who didn't want to be handled! ;)
