  1. Irish Terrier ? heavier otherwise probably ideal.
  2. It just people being lazy & not bothering to use or type the correct name for a breed.
  3. What about an Airedale Terrier or Irish Terrier, if you wanted something a bit smaller ?
  4. Irish Terriers are quite but not really small.
  5. I have a friend who firmly believes that all purebred dogs are 'highly strung' & that's why one should always buy a crossbred.
  6. Bonnie Working Dog, not Bonnie Complete. About $40/20 Kg.
  7. I get mine from Oban Trading. They sell them in 10kg boxes or 1kg bags. Oban Trading Address: 7-9 Oban Rd, Ringwood, VIC, 3134 Phone number: (03) 98703215
  8. There is not really much point in pointing out all the errors, mistakes etc in this article in this DOL thread. I doubt that the editor of The Weekend Australian Magazine would even know of its existence. A better idea would be to send emails to The Weekend Australian Magazine "[email protected]"
  9. Very interesting. I have always been under the impression that a dog should only be fed once a day & that a dog will curl-up & go to sleep after a feed. It seems strange to feed a dog in the morning "so that it will have energy for the day" Guard dogs are fed after their 'shift' to keep them alert when they need to be. My 2 dogs are fed in the evening & turn into couch potatoes for the rest of the night.
  10. Rubbish. Not all dog food producers want to make large profits by ripping off the consumer. A lot of people have been brain washed by "big business" that expensive MUST be better. If you don't pay big dollars for a small bag of dogfood you are a bad dog owner & not doing right for your dog. A lot of dogs are doing very well on Uncle Albers & Great Barko. Its not what people think its in the results.
  11. Yeppers, I split the White Sentinel in halves for my two smaller dogs. Works well. Thanks cavNrott, my wife reminded me that it was our vet who suggested this to us ! Nice vet
  12. Slightly off topic but I've been told that its OK to take a Sentinel White for 22-45 kg dogs & split them roughly in half to treat a 13kg + a 22kg dog. Any thoughts ?
  13. Hey piper ... Don't knock Aussie Stafford too much. He/She may stop posting & we need a bit of light entertainment
  14. This is one of the funniest threads ever !!!!! I haven't stopped chuckling since the first outburst from Aussie Stafford.
  15. F Y I ... Aussie Stafford Not many wolves or wild dogs eat yoghurt, carrot sticks, apple slices, cheese, fruit puree ice blocks & fruit mango etc Whatever works for you & your dog is OK BUT don't get all excited when someone suggests something & reply in CAPITALS. Its not polite !
  16. Need to be specific as Bonnie comes in two varieties- Bonnie Complete is chicken based & not good. Bonnie Working Dog Is roo/beef based & is the one to use.
  17. that is rather interesting, I should stop letting my two boogers eat outside. they love to lie in what was the lawn [now a big sandy dustbowl] and munch down on their chicken carcasses Me too. I give my Irish Terrier her chicken carcass on the relative clean concrete drive & she drags it onto the 'lawn' & eats it together with the sand & dried grass etc etc. Maybe she likes to add a bit of greens & condiments to her food !!
  18. I dip any tablet in vegemite. My dogs love it & the tablet goes down without any problems.
  19. @ Crisovar, excellent post. Agree with all points.
  20. Agree - What a load of rubbish - The post should be deleted by the moderators as it is insulting to all vets, besides being plain stupid.
  21. Bonnie Working Dog at about $40/20kg is a good choice. Don't recommend Bonnie Complete.
  22. Has anybody used the deshedder or the furminator on an Airedale or Irish Terrier ? I use the Coat King #20 & it does a good job but always looking for something better.
  23. I feed tha same as you do but I also feed EP I forgot to mention that!! I feed EP - a handful in the morning each - apart from all the raw food which some may say contradicts the philosophy of feeding raw because dry food is cooked but i find that their condition is better when I add this in. They both have really shiny coats and beautiful sparkly teeth and most of all - they look happy and fit! I also find with RAw feeding, they don't need to eat much and they pooh much much less - food is more easily digested, meaning there's less for me to clean up every few days!! woohoo! What is EP ?
