  1. Oh my gosh I hope the man recovers and isn't traumatised too badly by this
  2. Naww Frida looks lovely! The pound just had her labelled as a Whippet x Greyhound, she's much bigger than a whippet but smaller than a Grey, and has the body of a Grey rather than a whippet, but I too had been baffled by the extra fuzz on her face and a few longer wirey hairs on her chest, but I can't see what else she'd have in her!
  3. Well, I finally managed to get some photos of Lotta. Normally she either runs from the camera, or she gets so close to me I can't take any photos But here are a couple I took this afternoon. Not very great photos mind you, it was still hard to get decent shots of her, but better than sleeping or nose shots ;) What are you doing to me!? See my long legs? Looking regal I can still see you... Being slightly bashful Thanks for looking
  4. Bahaha love 'the pose'! Lotta just has a habit where everytime she sees me with the camera, she walks over to me. There's only so many close up nose shots one can take!
  5. I'm just so surprised that people don't think twice about buying a puppy from an online source? So, people are willing to hand over hundreds of dollars, for a puppy they never see in the flesh with little (or no) communication with the person selling? It all just screams madness to me!
  6. I don't really know. But if it were happening to me and the neighbours weren't trying to actually rectify the issue, then i'd call the Council to let them know what was happening and get their advice/see if they could send out a warning or something. If after that it still happens, I'd speak to the neighbours again and let them know that if it happens again you will contact the pound. I know you're concerned about your dog too, but you can't keep putting up with this, at least, I wouldn't be.
  7. That's a classic! Though one must wonder of the potential repercussions with all of this when people don't get called to heaven (hey, i'm an atheist!), could it be up for fraud perhaps...? Or would it be a case of too bad, too sad, you were silly enough to think the world was ending, so suck it up...? *Ponders*
  8. I dunno...i've often been told over the years my Whippet/Greyhound needs feeding cause they're too skinny To some, ribs/spine = starved, regardless of the breed!
  9. My definition of crate trained is a dog finds the crate a safe place and happily goes into it when requested, but does not seek it out, happy once in the crate. Seems to fit for me. Though we have Lotta's bed sitting in her crate at all times (her crate is in the family lounge room) so every time she wants to sit/sleep in her bed, she must go into the crate and she does so happily. The door of her crate is always pinned open unless it's bed time or we'll be gone for 2+ hours during the day (rare). Lotta would MUCH rather be sleeping on the couch though, despite not being allowed on it i've caught her out a few times when we've come home from a short outing and we've seen her jump off the couch once she hears our car pull up! Yes, I do consider her to be crate trained because she will accept the crate without a fuss. She'll enter on her own accord, or will hop in when we tell her bed time.
  10. Bahaha Anja looks cute! I remember doing something very similar to our dogs when I was about the same age! There's a few photos laying around with our dogs wearing hair scrunchies on ears, legs and tails
  11. Ohh this thread has inspired me to go and get a kong! I was thinking about it, but was stuck on ideas of what to stuff in it. Some pretty yummy (for dogs anyhow) recipes in here
  12. That was great, i'm a bit of a lover of 'arsehat' too! I read the title of the thread and thought "what has some idiot said now" purple nose...
  13. Missed your post before PF, thank you for answering I hope I never need to act on this though!
  14. What for? For the dog not being under effective control and therefore having the potential to be dangerous to other dogs and other people. I'm definitely not the most educated of people when it comes to the dog world, but everyone should be able to feel safe around other peoples dogs in a public space, made available to dog owners. While sadly yes, it happens, one shouldn't have to be wary of who's going to attack next. As for your second statement I bolded. It's just laughable. If I were to see children being bullied at a school I would damn well take action to stop it happening again. Bullying in the school yard is never okay and is not just kids being kids. The same way that dogs should not be attacking one another, it's not just dogs being dogs and it certainly isn't okay.
  15. Sorry to hijack, but I'd really like to ask a question if I may. If another dog does attack your own, what's the best thing to do to get them/the other dog to stop? Do you try and pull your dog away, kick the other one (if so, where?), scare them apart? I really have no idea but would like to have an idea in case I'm ever in the situation, my instincts would probably say kick, but it seems a but excessive maybe?
  16. *Nods* I find my Mother often commenting on the appearance of the fat Labs she sees regularly. She grew up with hunting Labs so knows what they're supposed to look like and she just can't believe that so many are overweight.
  17. Oh gosh. I'm so sorry you had to witness something like that. I don't blame the Husky for 'telling off' the other dog, if someone barged up to me i'd probably give them a stern word or two as well. The other dog grossly overreacted though and i'm utterly appalled that the owner just ran off like that. It's disgusting I hope the Husky was okay and I hope you also get a chance to see the owner again to get an update. I'd also definitely be getting in touch with the council and at least reporting what happened and where, even if you don't have any real info on the other person/dog. Something like this happening is a fear of mine. Never had any troubles in the past with childhood dogs being at off lead areas, but now owning such a timid grey (not that she's off lead), i'm worried that we will encounter a dog like this. It seems it happens more often than I realised
  18. Bahaha that's so true! Most of the Labs I see are pretty darn hefty and overweight. I'm no expert, but from that pic i'd say you Lab is fine
  19. Oh my gosh, how terrible for the poor girl Sending all the well wishes she needs to get through this xx
  20. I could be totally off the mark here, but I was under the impression that dogs tend to eat their faeces when they're not getting all the nutrients from their food (poor diet, eating too fast, malabsorption)? Meaning that a lot of the nutrients are going straight through them, and so they eat it again a second time trying to regain those nutrients.
  21. Oh gosh! How terribly scary for both of you! I'm glad Lucy is okay and your reaction seems perfectly reasonable to e, given the circumstances
  22. Hardy's Angel, i've seen the black girl you have atm, and I think she's GORGEOUS! But then, i'm a Grey lover/owner and I love black dogs. I don't have any colour preference when it comes to dogs, but if I could pick any colour, i'd go black as it just looks cool
