we used Don't Fret Pet recently when we went to Europe for 4 weeks. We have 2 Golden Retrievers who lived in a home with a retired widow who doted on them, took them walking twice a day and let them sleep by her bed (like they do at home) It was as much a holiday for them as for us! Price wise it was close to the cost of kennelling BUT much better IMO..we just supplied the food and their beds/toys. We left our dogs at a kennel twice before and never ever again, in fact we'll only use Don't Fret Pet in the future! good luck with finding somewhere!!

thanks for your replies, had a quote for the good turf this week and for our 88 m2 patch they have quoted almost $9K plus there would be additional charges in order to get the drainage we want. Unfortunately this option is proving too expensive for us at the moment so we are back to square one with a sad looking backyard. bummer :-(

we have 2 golden retrievers (3 and 1 years) they seem to love digging and no matter how many times we fill in the holes they dig the same spots over and over. we are geting a quote for some artificial grass tomorrow but will be bringing up all of these points and wanting the answers in writing. I have read in many books and online that it's the smell of the fresh dirt that is intoxicating to dogs, has anyone else had the same experience? Our dogs only dig in the spots that have had the earth dug up repeatedly? I am sick of looking into our back yard and seeing the carnage of holes and if I walk in it, I risk a broken ankle...it's driving us crazy hence why we are looking into artificial grass. If it's just the earth they find intoxicating....could laying a whole new real turf lawn be ok too???? does anyone have any suggestions/advice?? thanks Sera

Hi Everyone, We have 2 Golden Retrievers (2 1/2 & 8 months) and are about to go on our first big trip since having them (for 3 weeks) I am needing some assistance with finding them a kennel that I feel is safe and not just a big fenced concrete slab as I feel like that is jailing them! I want them to be able to run about and have fun together and not be caged up. To be honest I am a sook when it comes to leaving my dogs and I am really stressed at trying to find somewhere. We normally leave them with the breeder but he has been unwell and cannot care for them this time so i am hoping someone here can assist me. We leave mid-May so I know time is ticking, any advice or suggestions are appreciated. Many thanks Sera

Hi Everyone, My husband & I have a 14 month old female Golden Retriever and need to find a boarding kennel for her as we are planning a trip to Sydney in 2 weeks and then overseas later in the year and don't have anyone who can look after her. I am not after just any old kennel, I am looking for a doggie Hilton where she will get the very best care and attention. We are located on the West side of Brisbane in Forest Lake but are happy to travel if need be. Any recommendations would be greatly appreciated. I want the very best for her in our absence so hope someone can help us. Many thanks Sera

Thanks all your advice and replies. In the end Cookie only wore the collar when sleeping or when we were out. The rest of the time she was with us and not bothered as we had made ourselves very clear that licking in our presence was not an option!! LOL She is now nicely healed and all of the anxiety I had has long since been forgotten. thanks again! Sera

Hi, We had our 8 month old Golden Retriever Cookie desexed yesterday. The vet decided not to give us any pain relief to take home stating the injection she had would last 24 hours. She seems ok. I spent all last night awake as Cookie was licking at her stitches, so this morning my husband got her an elizabethan collar. My question is...how long do we need to keep this collar on her, boy it looks uncomfotable (I know it's better than her biting at her stitches) but was wondering if anyone else has been through the same experience and can give me any advice. She is banging and crashing into everything and can't even drink water with it on many thanks Sera

Hi all, Our Cookie is now 6 1/2 months old and we are thinking of having her spayed soon. We purchased her through a reputable breeder who recommended having her done btw 6 - 7 months. Are there any GR owners who have had their girls spayed at this age? Also, what is involved in the procedure? Is there anything we should know (or ask the vet?) It worries me sick!!! (fear of the unknown) Any advice is appreciated. Many thanks Sera
