What Dry Food Would You Recommend?
Finnesse replied to rusty&biscuit's topic in Health / Nutrition / Grooming
My Lappie has been brought up on Royal Canin (Medium Junior as a pup and Medium Adult now), she has a lovely shiny coat, is in great condition and does really well on it so I'm a big fan :) She is also fed roo tail, chicken frames, lamb flaps and fresh sardines occasionally. -
He's great isn't he, glad you are another happy customer I also highly recommend the Asian grocery shop next store, may as well make the most of the trip :D

It didn't really help with my old boy's itchies but nothing seems too, so he has come back off it. Both dogs love it though. Now to try and source rabbit which shouldn't be to hard for me so he can change to rabbit and sweet potato <sigh>

Must Have Grooming Products For Long Haired Dogs
Finnesse replied to a topic in Health / Nutrition / Grooming
I use OMG spray when I groom, a CC pin brush which I love and a greyhound beauty comb (a CC comb would be just as good), good equipment does help in my opinion. When my Lappie is losing coat I blow her out with the dryer, her coat is easy to look after if I keep on top of it and groom every couple of weeks. -

You will find them here http://dogsnsw.org.au/images/stories/PDFS/2012_for_Web.pdf The weekend of 18/8 there is one. We went last year as an excuse to look around, had a nice time, especially out at Silverton. Ella met donkeys wondering around the town and one poked it's head in the car, she was was like...what the...!!!

Some people used to recommend either of these two when on a tight budget, never used it myself though. It's usually available at fodder stores. http://www.lauckemills.com.au/dogfood.html

It say's $5 to Perth on their website, not sure what the rest of WA would cost, it used to cost me $5 to Adelaide.
-
Pookinuk are now stocking it like Danois said, would only be $5 postage to Perth but a few people have had problems with them. Not sure how much Natural Pet Store would charge to send to WA but SA was $10 for the biggest bag and they have great service. I have just put my older dog on it and he has skin/allergy issues. So far so good, both my dogs love it

Help Dog Missing - Princess Freeway Just Before Geelong

My heart goes out to you Missymoo, I can't even imagine what you are going though Everything crossed that Keisha is found safe and sound. -
You wouldn't be alone. Sounds like we had a similar experience, my boy was 9years old. I had to give permission for him to be pts on the table 3 times and then just as he was recovering he went on to have throat issues from the stomach acid that had burnt his throat during the long operations. Glad to hear Nova is on the mend, fingers crossed How awful for you cowanbree, it does sound similar. It's such a roller coaster ride isn't it. That was the decision made the 2nd time they went in with Toby, if they couldn't find what was wrong then they were going to give him his wings on the table. That was what we thought the phone call was going to be half way through the surgery so the happy tears we had when we got the phone call to say they found the problem and he was waking up was such a relief. The next few days were still worrisome but he recovered much quicker the last time. We now just have to be careful diet wise due to the pancreatitis. How are things looking thhis morning Allerzeit?

My bitch has phantoms, we have 3 pups (toys) at the moment. She also stole one of my daughter's special teddies to add to her collection but I took it off her as soon as I realised. Showing her leading up to her due date she wasn't really herself but still fine. I only showed the one weekend with her like that, I was supposed to show this weekend but it was cancelled due to the heat policy. I'm not sure how she would have gone this weekend either, she's happy enough though.

Fingerscrossed it passes naturally and no op. is needed. They aren't much fun at all. My older boy had an obstruction last year and needed an operation to remove it from his lower intestines, then after another week at the vet still not managing to keep anything down and staying on a drip with them doing every test imaginable trying to work out why, he got even worse. They had no choice but to operate again and by this time he was in such a bad way and had no reserves left with so much weight loss we even all had to say our goodbyes because they didn't think he would make it. Somehow he made it through after having peritontis, pancreatits, no weight on him whatsoever and being so weak, low grade heart murmour and old age. They found ulcers in his pancreas and scarring from the first op. had caused another blockage. Suffice to say I never want to go through that ever again.

Especially after all the lovely weather here in SA lately! I was really looking forward to it too. Really wanted to catch up with you to SnoPaws and Sammy cuddles sounded good. I'm glad it's cancelled being that hot but am sad we won't get to have our usual fun there, showing, camping and lots of laughs. Oh well, always next year ;)

Like Tlc and KTB I ended up putting the crate right next to my bed and hanging my arm over the side too so Ella could touch my hands  It worked really well, after a few nights I got my arm back and then after a couple more nights we slowly moved her further away until she was out of the bedroom. Nearly 2 years later she still sleeps in a crate happily. I did get up a couple of times in the night to toilet her outside, kept everything dim and not talking to her we headed outside on lead where I taught her to toilet on command. She was smart and knew she got a treat for toileting so learnt to squat 3 times for a wee for 3 treats ;) Wishing you the best of luck and a good night's sleep really soon, it will all be worth it :)
