Well it's day 61 and despite showing a great deal of interest in the food bowl Crissy isn't all that fussed about eating right now! That's a first ...things must be getting a bit tight in there. Her temperature has been hovering between 37.5 and 37.7 last night when I got up to go to work it was 37.3 and this morning at 8.00 am is was 37.00. At 9.00 am it was back up to 37.2. I think it may have dropped during the night and is on it's way back up?? Ahh...she's at her food bowl, just having a little snack now.

Pink slushies are mince and milk in a blender. YUM!

Sounds like it's all going well. :)

How are you all doing PomsNZ?

Good Luck Poms. Sending well wishes.

She looks like she's doing well. :) I love a parti colour. Crissy is doing better than me! Last night she cuddled up on the bed next to me and when I awoke to go to work she wasn't there....she'd gone and lay down in the whelping box (which is bedside). She has the whole house on "High alert". Today is day 59, just needs to simmer a bit longer. :)

Good News! :) And just what one would expect from a clever boy!

Hoping he is found safe and sound.

I'm sure it didn't have a rider on it! A rider could have steered it back to shore once it's panic was over, clearly it got caught up in a current. It was propably doing one of those running on the sand being free ads with a beautiful woman nearby. Perfume or some cosmetics perhaps. Yes, other less hardier breeds would probably have succumbed to exhaustion. But then they may not have bolted out to sea either. Glad it ended well for poor William.

Like to stay informed huh? :)

I hadn't bothered to look at the video until now, I wonder if its eyes are even open, it looks very young indeed, and it's going to be big by the looks of its size already. Agreed. And she'll prbably 'get rid of it' once it gets too big and use the excuse that jesus told her to Yeah, I'm thinking some kind of working dog of Collie type??

who cares what job it is, no way would I sell a pup to someone who intended putting it in a kennel every 2nd week and I wouldn't care how good the kennel was. I wouldn't sell them an adult either. Precisely, it's not about the hours people work and how long the dog is alone. In an ideal world every dog (and child)would have an 'at home mum' but this is not a ideal world and whether people have to work or choose to have a career, that is their situation and choice. This is about leaving a puppy at a Kennel EVERY other week. Not fair on any dog. It may well have a better bond and behavioural outlook with the kennel owner and stress when with the legal owner. I have similar feeling about dual custody of children. It does them no good to spend one week in a home and one week in another household when they are at an impressionable age IMO. Personally, if you are a FIFO worker you might want to consider a housemate, a particular dog loving and happy to have a dog in their lives house mate. I would hope that people don't tell porkies on any of my Puppy Applications but I tend to engage a fair bit of conversation, so I think I, and many others I know would pick up on the persons occupation/lifestyle/interests.

What a lovely girl is Cleo. :) Most expressive face.

Great, now she 'll find a lovely family with a well looked after, loved and cared for Poodle and Cavalier that they breed the occassional litter from. That's my friends daughter, she used to breed unregistered CKCS and is now mating them to Miniature Poodles. But apparently it's okay as she is not a "Puppy Farmer". I think health testing is a stronger point to make. Even my son's girlfriend thinks it's okay to buy a puppy from a Pet Shop if the Pet shop has a sign that says "We do not support Puppy Farms. Our dogs are bred from loved family pets". You can go round in circles trying to explain this one, I have.

I can't use nesting as a sign for Crissy. She's a 365 days of the year bed rearranger!!!

C'mon WIG, I know you have some news! :)

If they are single and unable to provide a stable environment for a pup, Hell yes. Frankly I'm a bit amazed a genuine dog lover would expect to put a pup through it. And I'm ex-military. This isn't about the job to me but the capacity to provide an appropriate home environment for a pup. I sold a puppy to a lovely family with both parents are in the RAAF, they have two little girls and I get baby albums sent to me of the puppy growing up and forwarding addresses when they move interstate. They have a lovely home and are terrific people who sing the praises of their clever little girl (the dog) in letters they send me. :)

Who really knows. It is a slightly different primative breed after all. Maybe it's just one for the "trust your dogs know". :) Good luck for a safe delivery. :)

I think the strongest snobbery will probably reflect in those that feel the need to have the latest of whatever is new and trendy be it an Ipad or dare I say it "Labradoodle", "Cavoodle" or 'rare blue' breed. I also have witnessed snobbery at what breed some people own, many look down their noses at small breeds with a "it's not a real dog" attitude. I hate that. That said the worst snobbery I've encountered is "intellectual snobbery". It has nothing to do with dogs.

Agree. Most breeds wouldn't cope with it, but my breed the Cavalier KCS would be unhappy for a lot of the time. With other breeds I invisage at best a strong bond with the Kennel staff at worst confusion and irratic behaviour on the part of the dog. As one of my sisters once put it. "I am a responsible pet owner, I don't have time for a dog in my life right now so responsibly I don't own one". She now has a family with older children and a lovely Schnauzer boy. :) That said I once dog sat two dogs for a workmate of my ex husbands for 6 months while he went back to the U.S. He did not want to put his dogs in a kennel for that lenth of time and paid me extremely well to love and care for his 'boys'. I got to be live with a Sheltie for a time. :) And his Kelpie/ACD was great company for my GSD. That said I guess if it is a routine a dog can adapt to then it could work. So long as they are getting cared for and loved by both care givers that is important. I guess the bottom line is that she should tell the breeder her situation. Although I can understand why she is hesitant to.

Yes HW, what people are willing to pay for certain items really depends on where their priorities lie. I can feed a horse easily with change in my pocket with what some people spend on cigarettes. I can keep a number of dogs easily compared to what my "sisters" spends on hair and nails. It's all about priorities and what matters to the individual. Some people are just naturally bargain hunters and others people wouldn't buy something cheap because it must not have much value. Example in point. My friend was selling a horse but didn't get many inquiries for this lovely fellow she had reschooled after a career at racing. She readveritsed him in a higher price bracket and was inundated with calls. The horse found a very, very good home easily.
