  1. Your dog has no way of distinquishing between the "naughty room" and his crate. To him they are just both places you put him for whatever reasons you have, be it a time out, safety or whatever. He can't associate that he is being put in one place because he is naughty or being put in another because that is his usual bed/resting area. Maybe rather than ignoring him when he barks, tell him to "hush" in a low deep voice yourself?
  2. Lectric Soda Crystals (Sodium Carbonate) To induce vomiting in the "Chocoholic".
  3. Our family (the hoomans) have a "who blinks first" game, the dogs also play this now!
  4. Really, how dare we focus on the dog and not the person. They are a very tight package! Removal of said dog could lead to a very downward spiral, dare I say even more self destructive. I think perhaps I didnt write what I meant very clearly .I didnt mean we should focus only on the dog. I think its sad that some only focus on the dog. I meant that some seem to put more importance on the dog over the human and as you say it should be the package we look at. No, you were clear enough, I understood what you meant and I was just expanding on it. :)
  5. I put in a Litter Notice presented as a "Birth Notice" and stated what had been born and that I would be advising what pups are available for sale with details after their health assessment etc. at 8 weeks.
  6. Hilaryo, it is when the face and feet are quite reddish and almost looks like blood under a translucent skin. Probably most apparent in a white face and paw. I thought this was quite normal and soon pinks up in teh first 24 hours.
  7. That's what my OH said!!! He told me to type that they look like baby bears!! Cuddly little soft toy baby bears. :) They are sooooo sweet.
  8. Congratulations BB. Welcome Schipperke babies. :)
  9. Yes, that's exactly like Crystal did.

  11. I think a lot of the short and not very concise email enquiries are courtesy of the "Smartphones" (Samsung Galaxy and IPhone). Some tend to keep the wording short and sweet. I got one the other day asking "Good afternoon, I was wondering how much your puppies are?".."first name". Sent from ....brand name.
  12. Remember the Michael Jackson song "Ben" ,when he was still a child? It was about a street kid and his pet sewer rat. Love is where you can find it.
  13. Angelsun had this girl delivered laying down previously then?
  14. I microchipped at 6 weeks and sent the paper work off after that...if I've got the names sorted. :)
  15. Maybe. Then they would probably begin the process of pinking up after they have had mothers milk with its lactose. ??
  16. Aaaawwwww!! They look like little baby Polar Bears!!!
  17. When Crystal had her singleton she stood and delivered it, with me taking the pup into my hands to avoid a fall or pull on the placenta. When she delivered the recent three pups she got up each time and repeated this process. My other bitch, Bonnie, who had six pups in her litter, lay down and delivered all whilst laying down. I would imagine laying down is the norm. Seems my girl Crissy is a bit of a "bush Ranger".
  18. Just after some others experiences and thoughts on this. When I took my three newborns to the Vets for their post natal check up. Whilst chatting, the Vet told me this. He said that firstly, I should take this with a grain of salt. The puppies were very well but at that time they had rather reddish faces and feet, I thought this was a normal translucent look in the newborn to tell the truth. He told me that their is a "school of thought" that this is indicative of "Low Blood sugar". However, as my pups had good muscle tone and were happy and content he certainly did not think this was the case. He told me if they appeared distressed at any point to give a few drops of glucose. I noticed in the first 24 hours that their faces and feet "pinked" up and looked normal. I'm pretty sure, most of my newborns have had that reddish look to their face and feet. All have had good colour to their tummies and good muscle tone with no consecutive problems occurring re low blood sugar. Your thoughts?
  19. Yeah, so long as she gets her turn at mum that is fair enough. Hang in there little one.
  20. And, it has to be said, that some breeds do rehome far smoother than others. I know that even though I think they couldn't get by without me my Cavaliers would re-home far easier than say my GSD ever would.
  21. I remember that Rotti on the Show. It said he was specially good at police work, because his father had been an outstanding police dog. Silly burglar! No wonder he's nursing some wounds. And he's being charged with aggravated cruelty to a dog! Among other things. Yes, and I believe he will be the last Police Rotti.
  22. Yes, it really does depend on the situation. And regarding even horses , I do get sad when I read about some elderly schoolmaster being sold on for big $$$$$ when he is well and truly deserving of a quite retirement.
  23. Heard this on the Radio this morning. http://m.news.com.au/NationalNews/fi1611200.htm I wonder if this is the same Nat who was on the Police Dog Show last year? Lovely Boy! Good on him!
