  1. Just to add I think that the quantity of pups also contributes to the need for more or less heating. 1-3 pups may need a warmer artificial environment than say 1-3 pups.
  2. I remember that Rotti on the Show. It said he was specially good at police work, because his father had been an outstanding police dog. Silly burglar! No wonder he's nursing some wounds. And he's being charged with aggravated cruelty to a dog! Among other things. Yes, the name is the same I remember, he was impressive to see in action. Nice one Nat, stand up for yourself and your master! Liz why do you say he'll be the last Rotty? In the TV series the Policeman/Handler metioned that the Police are no longer using Rottweilers as Police dogs and that Nat is the last. I believe there is also a move in some Countries (such as the UK) to use Malinois rather than German Shepherds now.
  3. Gorgeous! Love the names....hope the new owners keep them.....very "cool". ;)
  4. They'll be missing you but lots of TLC and fun distractions on your friends behalf will help them. :) Oh, and don't be surprised if they got nuts when they see you next and then give you the cold shoulder.
  5. Lovely Bubs LOTG. Wish I could do big pics, don't know how??
  6. Call Dogtainers tell them the flight you want the dog on (yours) it's easy. :)
  7. If you have used a Dremmel you will find the Pedipaw wanting.
  8. Her father was right there so she was being supervised. Supervision won't prevent a pack of dogs attacking or killing a kid. It is the one thing that really bothers me about the "supervise kids around dogs" message - people seem to think it keeps kids safe around unsafe dogs. The dogs should have been locked up before she arrived, in an enclosure that a child can't open. I do that for my FA mini schnauzer and she couldn't kill a child. No, but I'm sure she could leave a nasty scar on a face. You are sensible and think ahead, so many others (as it appears in this case) do not. Poor child and all concerned. Famous last words "we didn't think......"
  9. Actually even he stated "believed to be". I "believe" the jury is still out on this one!
  10. Puppies are now one week old. Girl No. 1
  11. Yes, that's a nice healthy pink. This was more like a sunburn type reddness. I don't have a photo unfortunately as they were pink at birth and pinked up later on in day 1 and have stayed that way. But they definiely were a darker colour on face and feet (tummies were pink)at the vet visit the morning after birth. ETA. Just thought about it and the puppies were in a small box with heated gel pads to keep them nice and warm. Perhaps they were running a bit hot at the time?
  12. I think the thing to remember is if your dog wears a coat often it wont have the ability to grow a full winter coat and then you owe it to him to keep him warm since you upset his ability to do it himself.
  13. It will be interesting to see what position she chooses should she have a second litter.
  14. Most of what I have read about artificial coats on coated breeds has been negative. Many get overheated and it is damaging to their natural coat. Even a smooth, short coated breed can get overheated quite quickly apparently. A light unlined raincoat for a quick trip out in the rain would probably be the extent of it for me, I've thought about getting one for the nursing mother so she doesn't go back to the babies damp, but then a quick towelling down is just as good afterwards. I do use a satin coat to polish the fur before they go into the show ring though, they are not heavy and certainly not made for warmth or weather protection. I also use a 'drying jacket" after a bath to settle the coat down smoothly.
  15. They look well cared for enough to me. A new form of "Pity busking"? Perhaps raising funds for vaccinations?
  16. My parents are Austrian and I speak it to my GSD! Of course it's English to the Cavaliers.
  17. That's one way too, I know my vet would trust me with them but I'm not sure every vet would trust every dog breeder? Once paid how can he be 100% sure some lesser known person will come back with the pups?
  18. I leave a soft toy with the mum in her crate a few nights before the pup is going to it's new home. I'm told that the puppy really loves to cuddle up to it.
