They certainly do have a certain "look" to them!
-
Yeah, all part of the 'learning curve' and what I expected too.

When it got 'really loud and rough" I said "Hey, you girls got some Staffy in you!" I can only imagine what 'real' Staffys do!
-
That's exactly what OH does!!

Best wishes and healing vibes for Danny. Hope it's all good soon.

I know it's all part of their social development but is there a time when one should "break it up"?? I've noticed mum break it up a few times when they have all been out on the lawn but indoors they are penned and she can't get to them. They are 7 weeks old and it's the most viciousness I think I will ever see Cavaliers display. It's very interesting. I don't believe it's just 'play'. I think it's far more significant than that. Sometimes it's one on one. Sometimes two will gang up on one. At times one will be trying to sleep and another is mercilessly biting her ear and she lays there half asleep crying. It distressed my OH and my 10 year old daughter and I've often done some kind of distraction to intervene. It's not always dominated by any particular one or size pup either. The littlest is very fiesty and had one of the regular aggressors on her back yesterday by the throat, growling savagly. My daughter asked "Why do they fight"? My OH said "Because they are family"! And then at times they are all cuddled up licking each others faces and piled up in a 'puppy pile' sleeping. Butter wouldn't melt in their mouths then. So is there a 'limit' and should I/do I draw a line?

My Cavs LOVE the blow dryer, whenever I'm drying my hair they come running into the bathroom and love it when I blast them with it!
-
Oh that's just wrong!

"Alpha Roll" technique was very popular with the "Monks of New Skete". These Monks each raised and trained a German Shepherd within their monastry.

I had some puppy buyers tell me today that their local vets have told them who to stay away from in their area, basically the "puppy Millers" who keep dogs in tea chests in the middle of a paddock and puppies in turned over eskys for shelter??? ...and some registered breeders who only breed a few litters a year do a poor job of socialising their puppies. It is very difficult for the buyer who need to be able to make an informed decision. Thank goodness there are many who do their homework.

Looks at the Cavs....looks back at the 'hair bunnys' bouncing under the side table.....just bought a variable strength vacuum...I wonder

My 3 year old Cavalier was very excited about birds when she was about a year old. She too is an indoor dog and would get very excited if she spot a bird through the window, still does actually, she 'perches' on the armrest of the couch and whines softly these days. She has been told to hush when she barks at them and has now learnt that this is not allowed. When outdoors she'll look up to the sky and watch the birds fly by, she doesn't bark at them anymore but still becomes extrememly alert when she see them. I guess Spaniel are a bird dog so you have to expect some kind of reaction to them. She also 'points' at them too.

Well there's toileting and there's toileting...I'm happy enough to clean a firm turd off a polished board but my heart sinks if a dog pees on the carpet!!

And the extra 4 mill they are being given to enforce it plus the fines and the rest they pick up by pinging people. Fancy anyone ever being able to imagine that in this country we would see warranted special constables with no accountability outside their own org getting this much power. ...and how will this affect breeders of unregistered dogs and Designer Dogs?? Short answer....it won't because they are "under the radar".

Well good on you! It doesn't matter who they are (or who they think they are) people can have a bad day and if they take it out on another living creature, be it a child, animal or adult they must be held accountable for it. I hope he was sufficiently remorseful and thinks twice before he takes it out on someone else again. Some people will learn from their mistakes and the time to act is the moment you react.

I looked at the "cat & dog" vacuum and the only difference between it and any other is the charcoal filter for 'odours'. The off putting side was I'd be replacing bags on a far too regular basis! It'd cost me a fortune in bags. It's got to be bagless for me.

My old German Shepherd at 14 did this on his bed whilst sleeping. He had a collapsing sacrum and I imagine it had something to do with losing control in the rear end.

Yes, I think I might keep the Tri in the first three pictures. There's alot about her I like.

Yeah, the furkids are happy to do "whatever you wanna do Mum!" And NEVER yell "I hate you" when they become teenagers!
-
Sounds brilliant, where'd you get it from???? I'm after something "modula".
-
That's good to know because it's not just about he hair shedding it's also the impact of the claws I'm concerned about with leather. No matter how much regular trimming my girls have had since they were babies you just can't seem to get Cavs claws shortish and they seems to curl more than other breeds do???

Sounds like my son when he was 6 and "just wanted to see if they worked!"

I've owned a Dyson for years and keep two (soon three) Cavs in the house. We have mostly polished boards now but the Dyson is great on all surfaces. The only problem with the newer Dysons today is they are made in China and parts are supposedly (according to a salesman) not of the same quality as the original ones. If you are on a budget I might suggest the Russell Hobbs "All floors" extreme suction Hepa cyclonic from "Target". I bought one yesterday as my Dyson died ;) and while I'm hoping to get it fixed have not bought another yet in case the old one is repairable still. It has (the Russell Hobbs) a 2200 watt motor and is also cyclonic so "YAH no bags!!! It was only $159.00 and it sucks...in a good way.
