  1. CONGRATULATIONS ON THE SAFE ARRIVAL OF ALL THE NEW BUBS!
  2. Mine took exactly one week from postage date to in my letter box date. This was in early November. So it was only a couple of days turn around for them. I guess alot would depend on staffing availability and how busy they are at the time.
  3. Her hubby made hers. He is a carpenter and it is painted.
  4. CONGRATULATIONS! To all those lovely little puppies who have safely arrived to add Christmas joy and Chaos to their families! ;) RIP the little ones who have continued on their journey We'll see you next time round.
  5. BB they look a lovely little pair of Blenheims. Nice and strong with good colour too! ;) Sorry about the little lost ones But I think you got your wish too! CONGRATULATIONS AND WELL DONE CLEO.
  6. This does need to be made very specific & clear. "Immediate family" and full siblings it would appear.
  7. It looks like three separate pieces...very clever design. Maybe they "stack neatly away for easy storage" LOL
  8. At least she's getting closer to her due date!
  9. Yes, good thinking BB. Much sturdier than anything 'purpose built' and easier to put away!
  10. If this Maltese puppy is only going to be 11-12 weeks old at Christmas then I'd say it's still very young and hasn't learnt any boundaries yet. Best thing is to take the Maltese off to puppy school now so it can learn some manner BEFORE the 8 week old Shepherd arrives at Xmas. Once the GSD has settled in it can join in classes at Puppy School and they can BOTH do obedience together. If these two dogs are going to share a home you have to train them together, especially as they are of similar age. I wouldn't worry too much about the maltese hurting your GSD, he probably nips and bites too for now. All puppies need to learn this is unacceptable behaviour from their 'families'. Because the GSD will grow rapidly and very quickly become large he will have the capacity to accidently hurt the Maltese. NEVER leave them alone unattended. Also make sure these dogs are desexed if they are only intended for Pets, it will help smooth things along.
  11. Yeah, there's no pleasing everyone Having an early alphabet breed who was also a "loser bitch' today did have it's advantages...home by lunchtime
  12. My photobucket came up too large and were bumped off! Must be my daughters camera??? Don't you just have to 'click to enlarge' those 'tiny little fingernails'?
  13. It is the same as with women trying to concieve and as a preventative for Spina Bifida. Once early development has taken place at the cellular level nothing can be done to avoid a congenital defect. Therefore best to have bitch already on folate before conception. I had one puppy with a cleft palate in my recent litter and will be making sure all future bitches being mated receive folate.
  14. At one obedience Club I attended (all breeds) whenever this occurred with a 'stubborn" pup the instructor made the handler just keep walking and drag the pup along. I hated seeing this done and was glad my GSD was happy to bounce along beside me. Admittently the pups eventually engaged their rear ends because they had to. I prefer a gentle encouragement and enticement. Does he follow you around without the lead? I find puppies who are happy to 'follow feet' the easiest to lead train.
  15. ...waiting and paying attention to this! My problem is reducing them to the 'legal limit"!
  16. Thinking of you all BB. Hoping for a better outcome this time. Hopefully they are 'cooked' enough! Blenheim bitch..blenheim bitch...blenheim bitch (chanting)
  17. After 2 days in a row of "once in a decade" flash flooding on our property combined with the hunidity I think I'm going mouldy! With 31 degrees forecast for Sunday it could get a bit steamy inside but I think even if it didn't rain the grounds would let up alot of steam outdoors. A few 'limp' do's I think (and that's just the dogs hehehehe!)
  18. Some breeders I know use this age as a 'rule of thumb'. I think it really depends on the breed and the bitch, how many litters she's had (if any) etc. etc.
  19. The 'touchy feely' part. Also other traits "Showdog" mentioned like being smart, quick learners, grooming once a week (okay mine get daily but a pet could get away with it ) And especially the dendency for people to let "cutsies' get away with stuff. See it all the time. :p
  20. Gosh they do sound alot like CKCS!
  21. I was also reading a bit about the breed on line and I've read that Schnauzers are terrier type ratters that were bred to work with people and don't enjoy being left alone and some can take issue with this?
  22. Yes, I think it must be the Miniature she's interested in. She hasn't owned a dog as an adult and I did all the training etc. being the 'big sis' so I definitely think the Standard is a big NO NO.
  23. Thanks for "Popping in" Becks!
