  1. It seems very few people sew or quilt?? So hardly anyone can take part... Maybe something more universal would be more successful...
  2. I chose a Papillon because they are little but a dynamic full package and so unique from other little dogs. I love their elegance and happy cute faces!!
  3. Bummer, forgot I am working overnight Saturday...and haven't managed to change it Have to try and work out something.
  4. Corvus, at least you know what you are!! :p I am going and felt a bit silly on the phone about even saying if my dog has the stability required...BUT...I am going!! About to fill in the form for Sunday and will take my dog's crate in case it doesn't work out...which I doubt!! At least a Papillon is very easy to handle. Apparently Betty has worked with Paps a bit, so that will be an added bonus
  5. Very nice. Leo looks really smitten...or else he's very cold
  6. Good question Tilly!! I was only thinking about this for myself today. I don't have excessive stuff...probably about 15 toys, a couple of leads, grooming stuff and fashion items so think that I will get a nice basket item to throw it all in. Also think it is a good idea for really getting toy rotation going too.
  7. I would book for sure if I could bring my dog... I really need practical help rather than learning without applying it...or that stays "theoretical".
  8. I think you seriously need to take a look at some papillons. They are a very unique breed and fantastic candidates for what you are looking for. Such little gems can be lost in a list of more well known breeds. Have a look on YouTube at some of your potential breeds too. Papillon doing agility Their coat is actually low maintenance and doesn't require trimming.
  9. Very happy to hear the good news...what a cute photo too
  10. That's great!! Someone posted it a while back... I wonder what the "mirror method" of training is??
  11. Wow, what a gorgeous little tribe and Banshee fits in so well. Isn't she lucky to end up with you
  12. Okay I was doing a bit of navel gazing on the way home today in the car. I was wondering as I am beginning to work more (thank goodness!!) and am out of the apartment more, is it fair to leave my dog alone. I then thought about how getting a dog was about enhancing my own life but what about his??? Is it enough to be fed well, dry and warm, to be loved, to be walked twice a day for half an hour and go in the car and to the dog park four times a week??? Is that really it?? How would I know if my dog is happy/content/fulfilled with his world...or am I majorly projecting human qualities and needs on him ? I guess that I am not sure how to tell and see that he is really fixated on my presence.
  13. I have already placed my order in the OT thread. Will you be PMing as when it is time to pay with details of where to send money??
  14. Years ago he featured a garden on his show that a of mine friend had designed and landscaped. When it went to air my friend was shocked because Don Burke presented it as if HE had done the garden No mention or acknowledgment was given at all to the true creative gardener!!
  15. I hope it goes well with the trainer and vet and keep us posted.
  16. Glad to hear he is responsive and can give a wag... It is really upsetting, as others have said when you think your dog is safe and that these dogs came in and attacked him where he should have been safe Sending hugs and well wishes for ongoing improvement.
  17. I love her too, loved Big Science album... It will be fascinating to See if Tonka loves her too
  18. For all Sydney-siders there is an event to be held for free in the foreshore courtyard of the Opera House...Music for Dogs. It is the first time they do it and everyone can bring their dogs for the event. Apparently humans can't hear it, or barely. It's part of the VIVid festival and Music for Dogs is on on a Saturday morning, June 5th. Below are two links SMH Music for Dogs Official Vivid Site
  19. Aww, but for the fashion conscious pom a little coat might look very dapper Pom Coat
  20. For those with labs and rottweilers I keep imagining you having to resort to a wheel barrow from Bunnings
  21. I can understand if a vet has been taken advantage of financially that they need a financial commitment, but doesn't all that take 30 secs to say "We need a deposit of xxx dollars. Do you have that?" and while you show them you do via a credit card or whatever the dog is being taken in as it is clearly an emergency...not them mucking around for 5 minutes It sounds unethical and I hope you take it to the registration board, association and them directly so that they get feedback about it. Meanwhile all this just makes your daughter's dog dying more upsetting and that is very sad
  22. Is the pup really boisterous or nippy? My friend got a pup for their nine year old and she got totally overwhelmed (the daughter) by the pups jumping and nipping. A trainer came in to show them all what to do and her Mum gave time out and just kept them separate for a while until things settled with the training. I'm not at all suggesting this as the solution but wanted to throw it in... I hope you find a way. A good trainer is worth tonnes for getting the kids involved in a positive way.
  23. My neighbour does that from time to time with one of hers. She has two siblings (maltese x) and from time to time one is in the stroller due to a problem. It doesn't look mad at all, just looks like you want to take the dog out but it can't walk
  24. Sorry to hear about your daughter's dog and it doesn't sound like the veterinary situation was comforting at all. Good you rang Fair Trading and I would ring the Veterinary Association and tell them what you are telling us. Make a complaint and send it to the practice and the association. While someone is attending to paying they could have been taking her in knowing it was being fixed up.
