I have to second all the replies in here too. It is tough to come in here and read of the losses that people suffer. I lost my Tubby 6 weeks ago and it is still so painful somedays. I too wish that I could share my condolances with everyone but it is so hard. There has been times when I have come into this thread and had to get out cuase I have been sobbing. (((hugs))) to all DOLers that have lost their precious furkids. They worm their way into our hearts and then when the leave, they take our hearts with them. :D :p

Staffy's And Rotties Most Dangerous
Banjo's Mum replied to A_Nomad's topic in General Dog Discussion
LOL!!! I have to say that at the moment when I walk Banjo, everyone is like "oh isn't he cute" and come up and pat him.... I say give it 6 months and they won't be doing that at all. Like someone has already said, it is a pity that people have this pre conceived idea of how Rottys are. Each dog is an individual and will react differently to different situations... just like us two legged animals! -
Oh wow...Thank you sooooo much Harminee You probaly know what this means to me... can't thank you enough. Am lost for words to say on how grateful I am
-
H Harminee I know i haven't been on DOL for very long, but just wondering if could possibly ask you to do one of your wonderful peices of work for my gorgeous Tubby. 01.11.97 - 16.12.08 Tubby Bear my Baby boy My soulmate, my heartdog If you could do this, I would be grateful. I understand that we have lives away from the computer so if its a problem, PLEASE let me know.

What a beautiful thing to do RIP Tubby Bear 01.11.1997 - 16.12.2008 My best friend, my soul mate, my heart dog. Missing you soo much every day you big lug.

Griff I saw a pic of Sinna the other night while on one of the Rotty Websites... think it was the NSW one - she was gorgeous
-
Hi Miss Molly I had a few people scoff at the price of having my boy returned to me, but after 11 years of loyalty and undying love, it was the least I could do. Also by going this way, if we ever move house, at least I can still have my boy with me.
-
Aww griff... (((hugs))) to you my friend. I had to take my good friend with me to pick up Tubby as I couldn't do it on my own, but I too have the jarrah box with plaque and now a photo. I have the rose on top of the box and it looks lovely. At least now griff you will always have Sinna with you. Terrorbull - yes it was Shane that I dealt with and then I think it was Kristy in Dubbo that I picked up Tubby from.

If you judge a book by its cover you run the risk of passing up the opportunity to read that book and it might be the best one out yet. Yep - the PPCollars look medieval. No one is suggesting you use one on your dog if it's not suitable or if there is a different one that would do as well or better (with all things considered) .... but at least learn about the tool before you draw conclusions through hysterical emotions. Head collars "look" kind and harmless, don't they ....... Hi Erny! Since having never seen one, was taken back abit....guess that yes am guilty of judging the book by its collar!!! I guess the moral to all of these posts is that if a certain collar/training technique works for you, then by all means do it. It doesn't mean that it will work for everyone.... just noticed a few of the earlier posts getting a bit heated maybe over what works and what doesn't. Our furkids, just like all of us, have different mindsets and behaviours and respond differently to different procedures!

Please forgive me if this comes across as "Commercial" so to speak but just wanted to say that when my beloved Tubby passed away a few weeks ago, my partner tried to bury him for me but alas could not get very far as the ground was so hard and my dog was so big... so I rang my vet and they suggested Pets at Peace. The guy from there was so nice. So I got my boy cremated and he is now with me all the time in a lovely polished box with photo. They gave me a rose and some poems to remember him by. I know not every one would agree with it, but that is what I found the best for me and helped me deal with his passing so much better. (((hugs))) to those of you who have lost your beloved furkids ;)

Wow! Thanks guys! ;) But no it doesn't look very friendly at all!
-
Good Grief! Look at the Prong collar... OMG, can't say I like the look of that one and probably would not put one on my dog! Thanks Chelseas Mum

When Is A Pup No Longer A Pup?
Banjo's Mum replied to Just Midol's topic in Training / Obedience / Dog Sports
My Rotty that passed away just before Chrissy was 11 years old and I used to say he was the biggest pup around as he still acted a bit like a pup!!! ;) -
ok, I have to ask a stupid question ;) What is a prong collar and what is a martingale??? Sorry for the ignorance, lol.... I have a normal flat collar on my Rotty pup at the moment and used to use a choker (check?) on all my other dogs with success.
