Women Injured And Animals Killed In Overnight Fires (caboolture Qld)
Starkehre replied to Boronia's topic in In The News
Never far from my thoughts Jed. All my well wishes to you. We all miss you heaps. -
Would have been more than delighted to do it.. however, just a tad too far for us to travel, sorry. We used several packs of blood to save my girl a couple of years ago, and would be delighted to return the favour... not using her of course. Best of luck with your client's dog. Hope it is OK.

Hey Pockets, I am so sorry to hear about what has happened to Tyson. Must have been horrifying for the poor lad. My heart really goes out to him and his family. He is lucky to have them. I wish Tyson a speedy recovery both physically and mentally. He is much loved and I know his family are doing everything they can for him.

Goldchow, thank you for the update. Lovely to hear cards have started to arrive. And what lovely new regarding all the animals. Not sure why, but the news of the pup going to it's preplanned forever home got me started again. I think it is sort of like a beginning or something for me... if that makes sense. It is nice to see something fresh and new coming out of this tragedy. And the fact that it was Jane's original chosen home just makes that very special. I bet those owners are thankful and relieved that their pup survived... but no doubt there will be mix feelings with the sad news of what has happened to Jane and the others. High emotions all round. -

I am so glad Jane has come through her graft surgery OK. Those giving constant updates, thank you so much. It is so good of the family and close friends to be prepared to share this information with so many that do not even know Jane. Particularly when the family will have so much else going on and so much to worry about with it all. Once again, thank you so much to the teams of people working so closely to the situation at hand... animal carers, property minders, co-ordinators. Your continued efforts are so very appreciated. -

Mdba Pacers Non Believer Converted!
Starkehre replied to Wazzat Xolo's topic in General Dog Discussion
I too am a big fan of the MDBA Pacers and am also a member. Julie's enthusiasm is undying. I know at times it can seem a tough battle to be constantly asking for assistance to help get things up and off the ground, but Julie's enthusiasm never waives. I have also spokmen to her on the phone on several occasions, and it is obvious to see her passion for the Pacers and belief in getting it to where she sees it being. In disasters such as the Vic fires and Jed's battle it is easy for us to see how supportive the Pacers are. In less publicised situations and on going they are also working hard assisting people and their animals in crisis times. We just don't always hear about it. A magnificent job you guys are doing. I hope more consider becoming a member of MDBA Pacers. -

Morning all..... still feels like an awful dream Was wondering how those Boxer pups and all surviving Cavs are going? Did the 2nd vet check show they were OK? So dreadful about Magnus and Meg. I guess the only small upside is that it must be a relief to have all the dogs accounted for. I hope Jane is still stable and her surgery goes well today. FTPO, organising and distributing flyers was a selfless and generous thing to do. Founding out afterwards that Magnus had in fact passed in the fire was shocking and sad. You did not intentionally hurt anyone. I would love to go around and assist pulling the flyers down, but am so far away. Hugs to you, huge effort. -

The word "comfortable" was used to describe Jed's updated condition, and this may have been why some people thought this meant she was awake. Understandably, readers may not see how doctors and nurses can tell Jed is comfortable is she is unconscious/heavily sedated? When I read the update, I noted this, but did not assume she was awake, as I realised the word comfortable may not have been used in the literal sense. I can understand some may have been confused, but we do need to be careful about not jumping to conclusions. I am certain (as we all are) no one has meant any harm. -

Thank you for the update Sway. What an absolute relief. One day at a time I am sure, but the fact that Jane has been downgraded from critical to stable is great news. -

+1... let alone her home and all her personal belongings. I have no idea what if anything has been salvable. Here's hoping they are managing to save some of her possessions. -

Details for donations and cards is pinned in General. Don't think there's been an update on her condition today. Update in Jane's condition today directly from Steve was that there is no change. -

Ive got the easy bit - Im down south and co ordinating it all but Lesley and Marg had a hard day yesterday picking up the bodies and the survivors. Both will have their hands full ensuring the ones they have taken home will be comfortable and looked after as Jed would want them to be. 2 more bodies were found later in the day after Marg and Lesley had left and removed the bodies they found out - The two adult boxers who were found under Jed's bed so their bodies have been recovered and will be buried as well. So sad. :D ;)
