  1. Oh Jed, Thank you for sharing your thoughts, feelings, tributes, photographs and grief with us. We will take as much of the burden as we can for you... but we know it is little consolation. RIP special Jed's babies
  2. Jed, your tributes are overwhelming. Just so sad. The empathy we feel for you and what you must be going through is incredible. So so sorry for your losses, Jed. Your life was enriched by them. Their lives were enriched by you. Your beautiful precious babies will be there for you, waiting at the bridge at a much much later time.
  3. No, thank YOU Jed. So very unfortunate the circumstance for you, but you have drawn us all together to bond as ONE and to remind us what really is important in life Of course we appreciate your "thank yous" Jed, but you owe us nothing, and you are absolutely most welcome. So amazing awesome to hear from you directly. More tears of joy. You are one amazing lady.
  4. Toohey, thank you again for sharing this latest update. Jed, so glad you are constantly progressing. I am so sorry you have this grief of your lost babies. I want to take it away for you, we all do, but we can't. I am sending you my love and virtual hugs, if that is any consolation. I cannot even begin to count the hrs of crying and tears I have shed for the sorrow of your losses.... and again now. Nice to see you reconnecting with the cyber world. A step back to normality for you. I know this thread will give you some ups and downs, and I hope you can accept it as it is intended, all of us people caring so much for you. Am looking forward to seeing a post from you again, but take your time. Just knowing you are back here reading has given us all a boost... we just feel your closeness knowing you are here with us. Have a great day Jed.
  5. What's so funny Jules. I was actually going to PM you, but was not sure if you had done DWD or not. and before you jump to conclusions.... no, I am not going to do it
  6. Hi guys, I am doing a little project, and though I cannot reveal too much at this stage, what I need is someone that knows a bit about this sport (not so much the technical or content side of the routines themselves from a competitor's perspective, but more so from a judging point of view ie scoring, passes, titles etc) that would be prepared to chat with me on the phone for a few minutes. This would not take up a lot of your time and I am more than happy to call you. The information I need is not personal, just very general. It is not a survey, I only need the information once, but it is definitely more of a "chat on the phone" sort of thing, as opposed to specific info you guys could help with on a thread. Also, I am very willing to explain why I require this info to the person that helps. Any takers please? Even if you do not know a great deal, it may be more than enough for what I need. Anyone's assistance would be greatly appreciated. PM welcome. ps. I also need similar information regarding Flyball, if anyone else is interesated in assisting me in tha discipline also, please.
  7. Goldchow, thank you so much for that picture you have painted of your visit, and giving us all a bit of excitement again. Such wonderful news. Like Grumpette says, Jed is most welcome for our support. We call it how we see it, and it all comes from our hearts. Hugs to you Jed. Keep up the great work.
  8. ...that big dogs must be canibals, cause "big dogs eat little dogs for breakfast".
  9. I buy vitamin C ascorbic acid powder form in bulk and my dogs have 1 teaspoon every day of their lives from 8 weeks of age. As above, aiding in joint support and correct development and also for anti-oxidant properties. Said to assist in preventing cancers. On one of my bitches I also use it is the natural form, rose hips, soaked in boiling water over night.
  10. Another day has dawned Jed. Hope you had a restful night and feel all right this morning. There is the usual erray of yummy smells coming fromt the waiting room....mmmmmmmmm. Morning everyone. Think I will have a croissant. Well, I hope Jed and waiting roomees all have a lovely day. There are so many healing vibes and warm fuzzies here in this room, I can just tell it will be a good day for all.
  11. What I have always found amusing (and this is not necessarily about anyone on DOL), but that some owners that believe that it is cruel to only have a small yard when you own dogs are often the same ones that also think that dogs must always be kept inside, and that having them outside is cruel. The bizarre thing about this is that even the biggest house is often smaller than the smallest yard, go figure. My opinion is that yard size bares little relevance on good, responsible ownership of a dog. It is what you do with the dog, what you make of the space you have and time you have with and for the dog.
  12. Miloch, this is devastating news. I am so so sorry to hear this has happened to your young girl. No, I have not had this happen to any of my dogs before. Did the vet actually conduct the autopsy before concluding that they could not find a cause? This does not happen for no reason. It would be helpful for you to find out what caused this. Have you spoken with her breeder to let them know what has happened? I am sure they would like to know. I hope this has not put you off owning Rottweilers. Hugs to you, it must have been such an awful shock.
  13. I do similar with my back door (not necessarily when I'm out). I've been thinking of getting those heavy plastic strip things (like fish and chip shops have) as I thought that might help to keep the warmth in and a bit of the cold out. Maybe it would work for your set up too? Of course, there's always the doggy door option. I'm not going for that simply because I don't want a hole cut into my solid wood door. I haven't coated my boy yet, but I've had no need to leave him locked out of my home on the really cold days. He's not quite used to being coated (I didn't coat him sooner for the same reason as you Dyzney) and I wouldn't trust him being left alone with it on. I put it on him the other day, and he didn't think he could move. For a minute I was wondering why he was stood stock still in the family room, even though I was wandering around the place. I did used to coat my previous girl (bhcs) although there was one time when I came home to find that she'd managed to get her front leg caught up in and through the neck. She couldn't stand or walk in it. Don't know how long she'd been like that. But she was the sort of dog who would just wait until you came home, rather than panic about it. She loved the warmth from her coat, so even after that I did still coat her on the cold days when I had to leave (and even when I didn't). Yeh yeh, gotcha Ern. I thought about putting strips or similar on the garage doorway into the backyard, but Jag would have a ball with those I know I could coat him, he doesn't have an issue with wearing one, but he doesn't seem to feel the cold either. It is more Dyzney that I prefer kept warm. But he just rips her coat straight off her. He undoes the chest strap without any problems, cheeky bugger. Look, it is not bad cause I am usually here anyway, so if it is cold they just come inside, and they sleept inside at night anyway. Jag is still just a tad young and cheeky to leave inside if we are out. He tends to run amock He detags the cushions and throw them around the kitchen, and I mean the huge couch cushions. He removes the dog cover off the dog couches, and basically makes his own fun.
  14. Normally I coat my dogs during the colder months if they have to be outside, which is when we are out only. However, as one of my dogs is young, and he still has not grown out of chewing stage  , I cannot coat either of them for probably another year. A couple of years ago we installed a infra red heater in the garage for them for these situations. The garage is solely the dogs area anyway, they have cosy beds in there, but it just takes off that chill and makes it warmer for them. The garage is fully insulated also, which helps a bit, but leaving the backyard door open for them to go out can allow it to get quite cold in there at times. It is ceiling mounted so nice and safe.
  15. I know fifi... I was thinking the other day, if poor Jed has by chance been able to read any of this thread (and maybe she has not anyway) she would be getting might jealous of all our yummy virtual foods. Yep, there is a miriad of reasons Jed needs to get better quickly Her family and friends might be taking in some nice yummies for her. We miss you Jed. Hope you have a window view so relieve the boredom during the day.
  16. Well Jed, I am turning in for an early one tonight. Been a big weekend, and I am buggered. Am thinking of you and hope this week is a positive one for you. Hope you are coping with the hospital food OK.
  17. No Piper. No video. But funny you should mention that... after the judge from Tas judged our first run, I spotted him with a video camera at the ready to get Dyzney's 2nd run. Of course I wouldn't have seen it anyway, but the funny part was that our 2nd run was so disastrous that he probably erased it anyway he would have been disappointed cause he was so excited to see Dyzney (a Rotti) work, that he obviously wanted some footage to take home with him, and we mucked up  Perhaps I will try and get a video some time and post it. Just ask Huski, she'll tell ya, I don't do video.
  18. Thanks Jules. We just got home from presentation... thrilled to say that Dyzney's 97 was Course A High Score in Trial. Dunno Jules, I am super familiar with how Poppy works. I know I will be going on to do Started Course B, but it is not at the State Trial, except on Ducks  I want to do ducks, but will wait til after the duck clinic me thinks. So for now I will concentrate on getting this title first.
  19. Awesome work Jules and the gorgeous Poppy.... and lovely that I finally got to meet you after all this time. Poppy worked beautifully and that 2nd run was to die for. Your win was well deserved, good on you both. ... and how was that weather??!! we were the lucky ones to have got our classes over before it came down Hope you got dry and warm last night. It took me hrs to stop shivering :D I reckon you should keep going too ;)
  20. Morning Jed, morning waiting roomees. Winter is certain upon us down here in vic. It is freezing. Yesterday we all got drenched at a herding trial, but it was a lot of fun and a successful day for competitors and their dogs. Looks like it will be wet again today. Still, rain a great. I hope you are not getting too bored in hospital Jed. It must be driving you nuts. But, probably the only way to force you to keep resting and healing... can't keep a good woman down. Jed, have a good day and take it nice and easy.
  21. Toohey, your news is very special to all of us, but I know you know that So please Jed is feeling better. I am sure there will many tears shed for a long long time, and that is something Jed is more than entitled to do. Virtual hugs to you Jed. You are an amazing woman. These are gentle hugs so as not hurt you. Hope you have a restful night.
