I see what you are saying EF, but my question is relating to the situation where the specialty is NOT offering any Neuter Classes, so you are unable to enter the neuter at the specialty show anyway. I don't think it matters - it's still a CC... I guess Dogs VIC will need to answer this one! You could well be right Aziah, I appreciate your input. Yes, just waiting for them to call me back.

I dont' believe that to be correct (the first part I have bolded - not in this state anyway - NSW). The National ruling is correct. Thanks Aziah. In Vic that is the case. But all that aside, it is more about the neuter CCs that I would like to know about.
-
This is something I plan to call Dogs Vic about, but just curious if anyone here either knows the correct answer to this or thinks they might... OK, so when your breeds club holds a specialty, you are unable to receive CCs in that breed at any all breeds shows within the same state. And if it is a National, then I think the same rules apply within a distance of 1000kms. So, my question is, can you receive Neuter CCs in the above situations/distances if the Specialty or National are not offering any neuter classes? I know Neuter CCs are not entire CCs, so I think this should be allowed, but I don't technically know. Can anyone advise please?

There isn't an appropriate response for me... I do not allow my dogs to lick me becuse my skin has an intolerance to their saliva. I break out in eczema within one minute of even the smallest lick. I would love to let them lick me. I do not a hygiene or sensation issue, just allergies

Bumping thread in case there is anyone whom wishes to add their input. Remember we are giving away 10 Polar Collars to the ten most helpful posters. Many Thanks.

My order arrived today... Can't wait to start some training with our new weave poles :D

Well, I didn't even recall doing this list, so was surprised to find it here. Well, we fell short in some areas and achieved more in others... Jag - achieved his CCD Title, but stopped there in Obedience. We quit the idea of ET as he can be a bit reactive on the biked... my knees do not like road gravel rash Jag achieve one HT pass and will be doing more herding next year. Dyzney - Unfortunately I did not do any Herding, Obedience or Tracking trialling with Dyzney, but she has over half of her points towards her Neuter Champion title. Still hoping for the illusive HSBs and maybe HSAd next year. We have enjoyed herding training and keeping her fitness up, but she is really loving being back in the all breeds ring. Fame - was my little star this year. She is ending the year with her Aust Champ Title and 2 V ratings. Fame achieved one of her CCD passes and gained HT and PT Herding titles... all by 16 months of age. She is currently in Agility training and we hope to achieve min. 2 Novice Agility titles next year, finish off her CCD title, gain a few more V ratings if we can and maybe do ET, time permitting.

Puppies, A Social Experience Apparently
Starkehre replied to lovemesideways's topic in General Dog Discussion
I totally get where LMS is coming from. It can be really tricky. When I am out and about doing some socialising/neutralising training with pups/young dogs, I try to always take my OH to play the social component of our unit. This way I do not have to be interrupted, but also do not finish up feeling like I may have been too short, rude or abrupt with people because I am fully engaged with my training. I ask OH to acknowledge people, smile, chat where appropriate and if they are asking to pat or meet said pup, he will give them some instruction on what we expect them to do and wait for me to say we are ready. We always endeavour to spend as much time talking with the GP about our dogs/breed as they do tend to get a lot of negative publicity. It is all very time consuming, a lot of work, but we enjoy it and believe it is all a crucial part being so heavily involved in dogs and trying to support our breed. All the PR work is a totally separate thing from us being out training our dogs, but we can combine them at times and find this even more rewarding and successful in both aspects. Much of my public training requires me to approach people to request some assistance with training my dog. some people are up for it and others are not. I am always very appreciative for those that agree to be involved. I even go out with small gifts as incentive. -
Help With Bitch With No Heats And Weird Temp
Starkehre replied to Quazaa's topic in General Dog Discussion
I'll hazard a guess and say that your bitch will have her first season within the next 2/3 weeks. ;) -
Just advising that if any Black Hawk users that are having difficulty getting hold of their dry food... though I certainly have no desire to push out any local distributors or retailers and will always advise inquiries of where they can obtain BH local to them, if anyone is dstruggling to get hold of the product, we post anywhere in Australia and do so every business day. Yes, postage costs are involved but it may not be as dear as you think and certainly worth an inquiry, considering the food will be delivered to you. k9softdogcrates.com.au

Gayle, I will be at very same 3 shows in Jan. If you like, I am more than happy to go over your girl quietly and friendly (with a treat if you like) prior to you taking her in. I will be loitering around Utility ring with Dyzney, my neuter Rotti bitch. PM me if you want to arrange a hook up Oh yes, yes, that would be awesome. The more people she meets and the more who handle her, the better she'll be. I hope so anyway! No worries at all Gayle. Just yell out. I have a feeling I will know you when I see you anyway. I frequent Kate's and have been herding with Dyzney for nearly 2 years now, so I am sure you will hav a familiar face :D

This is all wonderful input guys, please keep it coming, very much appreciated. And, though we had the initial hiccup with the poll itself, it can be filled in now as we have altered the last opening statement and of course we will be giving out those Polar Collars as mentioned in OP.
-
You are so right, that would have been the easiest way for me to fix it Unfortunately, I think it is too late to change it all now. I may have to scrap it entirely and start again... but I will definitely remember your suggestion for next time, thank you
-
Thanks Huntia. OK, I have now altered the opening statement heading the third section, so that the poll can have all three sections filled in. Once again, I apologise for not being aware about the way these work prior... my first poll
-
Sorry guys, I have discovered the issue in my poll and am working on getting it sorted.
-
Hi Jumabaar, you can respond to the 2nd two questions/sections if you would like to. You do not have to own a hydrobath to respond to this poll... only the first section. OK Jumbaar, I realise what you are saying now. So, sorry, I did not realise that polls had to have responses in each question. My apologies. Looks like it is back to the drawing board with this poll... in the mean time if anyone wishes to assist by posting any info related to my poll questions, it would be greatly appreciated.
-
Hi All. K9+ Soft Dog Crates is currently in the process of designing a hydrobath for domestic use. We are calling on the collective experience of DOLers for assistance in some of our final decision making on designs and some market research. We ask that you please tick any and all statements that are applicable to you As an incentive for those of you that choose to participate in our poll and in addition also post some anecdotal comments or any other thoughts, info etc, we will be a offering a FREE Polar Collar for 10 of the most helpful posters. We will contact same via PM for required neck measurements advise of those receiving the gift in this thread later this month. If you choose to post some additional comments and would be happy for me to PM you a couple of questions, please say so in your post. Added... I apologise that I did not realise that each section had to be filled in to be allowed through. I have now altered the wording of the heading on the third section so that all three sections can be applicable to anyone, instead of only two sections.

Good luck with him Flaves.

Huge congrats on your BONIS. Well done You must have been over the moon. I cried when Dyzney got one... old softie I am. Until they alter the group run off system, which may or may not never happen, there will not be any additional points as Open Neuter In Show is a class run off, just the same as Junior In show, Aus Bred In show. Whilst the entries for neuters are still small enough to really only warrant holding 18 & 18A, I doubt there will be any push for holding run offs to gain a Neuter In Group award and points. And there will not any Neuter In Show until there is a Neuter In Group. Hopefully this will happen one day More and more shows are offering neuter classes, which is wonderful to see. I mentioned in another post that our state breeds clubs are starting to offer them, which is really exciting. Two states so far have offered the classes... I am hoping more take up this opportunity next year.

I wish you all the success Ness. Flaves, Dyzney has BT on both sides, one slightly worse than the other. Sadly it was the original lameness popping up after a bike run a few years ago, that prompted me to pop along to the vet (won't do that ever again, go to the vet for lameness I mean) and Dyz was put on Rimadyl. Next thing we knew we nearly lost her to IMT which we believe was brought on by the Rimadyl. Anyway, long story short, many months later when we Dyzney became well enough to desex, Pete Rafferty x-rayed her shoulders whilst she was under anaesthetic (as we had never got to the bottom of her original complaint being busy treating the IMT)... and voila, that is when he diagnosed the BT. Nowadays, it is mild. Most of the time you would not even know she had any soreness. After a couple of kms on the bike she looks a little proppy, that's all. We manage it. She still herds, still goes out on the bike, goes swimming and had a wee go at agility yesterday... pulled up fine and was so happy to get back into it. Keeping her mind and body active is keeping her happy and gives her fitness and will to live. Dyz has magnetic therapy each night, herbal remedies, homeopathics, Power Blend and myotherapy (as you know). For a nearly 9 yo Rotti that competed at Masters level agility, I reckon she is doing OK. I have toyed with plasma and other treatments, and maybe I would, but with her IMT risk, I am a bit scared to even go there. Whilst she is still going so well, I will continue as we are going. I did consider the surgery when Pete first diagnosed, but there was no hurry as she was not lame at the time and it is so invasive. Now she is the age she is, I do not think I would even go down that path, even if she became quite sore.

In our breed, "dry" is usually describing the head, but can be all over - and refers to tight skin. A wet dog has excessive skin - dewlap, wringles etc.
