Awesome work Yorto. We have identical units and the same problem, less the phone line. Can you please tell me, what are the crimps or similar that you have joining each panel, how are these purchased and crimped please? What guage is the mesh and is this a Bunnings purchase? We are keen to copy your idea, if you don't mind :D

Perforated Intestine - Update: Peritonitis

Lisey, I am so sorry to hear this very sad news about Lola. Rest in peace little one. -
Well done to you and Rhemy, Bisart. A title well deserved to a beautiful sweet girl.

Good on ya mate!! Huge congrats to you, Doonie and the very cheeky Face, both bred by you. Stunning dogs. What a wonderful achievement and I could not think of anyone more deserving.

I use moonpig.com.au for personalised mugs and I do my cards this way also. That way you can use any photo you like, one of your dog, their dog or a generic dog. You can add lovely notes and they will arrive very quickly, Express Post if you like. Sure they are not top shelf gifts, but a very nice lower end priced gift idea. Just depends on what you want to spend I guess. I have sent these mugs to friends whos dogs have passed away. I added beautiful photos of their dogs and included some personal nice words. They loved them. The only issue I have had with Moonpig is that one mug arrived broken. Of course they happily sent a replacement straight away, but it was disappointing for the recipient and I. So, from then on I requested they package the mug carefully, and they just add some scrunched up paper, and they have arrived fine that way.

Totally hear you Sheena, all good :) Yes, I cringe when I see people out in the streets walking tiny baby puppies for obvious long distances... let alone jumping them. -
Great news, enjoy yourselves and see where it takes you.

She is lovely, but surely not an agility trial :) At her age I wouldn't have her doing jumps...plenty of time for that IMO :) Thanks guys. Yes, Seven is as cute as a button and so well behaved. She is 9 weeks old today, so yes Sheena, please rest assured it was just my warped sense of humour about the trial, sorry to alarm you :) The jump was already in my yard, I do agility with two of the others and Seven was just checking it out. I would never jump a Rotti until close to 18 months of age. She has been taking herself outside, from living room past kitchen, through the laundry, out laundry door, along the concrete path down to her grassed area for pee and poop since the day after we brought her home. There has only been one wee inside for the whole week. She is awesome with the other 3 grown ups, as they are with her. Seven sits well, drop is getting there and walks on leash quite well. Nothing scares her. Any loud noises, she runs to investigate. I have been dremelling her nails every day, and she sleeps through it just about. I am going to have a lot of fun with her, that's for sure. -
I am all for letting the public interact with my dogs if the time is appropriate. I am not offended if they ask and hope they are not offended if I decline, but that would be rare ocurrence. Several years ago I had two of my dogs at the Royal, benched for the agility trials. I was there with a friend, we would take turns to keep an eye on each others' dogs when we had to walk away for a short time. It was amazing how many of the public felt it was their right to pat our dogs without asking. They would walk under the rope to reach them. Anyway on one particular occasion, I left the bench to relieve myself and came back to find that my friend had become distracted talking to someone (I was not happy) and a family of overseas tourists had not only climbed under the baracade, but had strategically sat themselves on the double bench my dogs were tied to, leaned in towards my dogs with their arms place around their necks, whilst someone else was photographing I could not believe what I was seeing. I promptly asked them to move away. They finished their shots, then cuddled a bit more before leaving. Incredible. Lucky my dogs are friendly and thought it was wonderful.

Hi gusgem, I went through a similar dilemma recently with my 9 year old Rotti, Dyzney (her birthday today). We stopped doing agility nearly 6 years ago and just got back into it again a few of months ago. We left with 4 passes in Excellent Jumping and just got our final title pass a couple of weeks ago. Dyzney is loving agility again. See thread if you like http://www.dolforums.com.au/topic/231486-agility-question/ I say if you want to, go for it. :)

Update... our gorgeous girl "Clyzan Seven Deadly Sins" AKA "Seven" has come home. She is a riper of a puppy. Super confident, a real thinker and quick learner. Plenty of drive, but also calmness when required. As you can see we are working on the jumps  I have her entered in a trial later this month :D Love the sand on her face from her sand pit :) How is everyone elses prospects going? -
She is stunning Naz!! Just love Face. She is a very special girl, a credit to you and all your hard work, and it is lovely others in that litter achieving wonderful results too. I wish you every success in the future with Face.

Feeding Breakfast Before A Trial
Starkehre replied to sheena's topic in Training / Obedience / Dog Sports
On the day of a herding or agility trial, mine get a slightly smaller than usual brekky and I ensure it is given earlier than usual. They have plenty of drive for these sports, so not being hungry does not effect their work. For an obedience trial they get a much smaller brekky as their drive is lower for obedience and every little bit of created keenness helps. :D During the trialling day if they appear a little flat they get Nutrigel. For my bitch that is a less than an ideal drinker, she gets purple carrot juice the morning before and offered during the day. She will drink that if put in front of her and it keeps her hydrated and provides energy... very healthy also. -

Dog Marking Territory Inside After Buying Cat Help!
Starkehre replied to tuppy's topic in General Dog Discussion
I feel for both the dog and the cat... both struggling to find themselves in this household, their lives being changed dramatically. Unlike dogs, cats that have been previously used to blending with dogs are cats that have befriended those particular dogs. New dogs will be seen as predators and it will take time, patience and careful, sensible ownership required for introduction and safety. Dogs that are not accustomed to living with cats will quite often show high prey drive or fear when presented with a new cat. I am not at all surprised that the dog is scenting inside your home. This could take a very long time to settle, if at all. A lot of research on training and animal behaviours and instilling sensible plans is going to be required on your behalf. And no, your dog did not know what it had done wrong, it only knew you were upset at the time you made threatening gestures, no more no less. This is no way to train. The dog has no clue of what you are requiring of it. You are setting yourself up for disappointment. Provide a safe environment for the cat whilst it is so scared, poor thing. This will also keep the dogs' eyes safe from ulcerated scratches. Cats and dogs can make great friends, but this is usually by chance and after a long time. I have had many cats and dogs living in harmony together, even cuddling up to sleep together... Greyhounds, Rottweilers, GSDs, Dobermanns and so on. A mature cat and a mature dog throw together where they are expected to provide companionship for one another is a recipe for disaster, unlikely to work. Desexing the dog is unlikely to alter it's urination behaviours. I wish you success, I really do, but personally I would be returning the cat, putting it down to misguided decision and work on training and enjoying your dog. You have only had the dog a few months. Give it time to settle in. Maybe in a year or so get another dog or a kitten. -
... and more, poor Jag getting beaten up by puppy Fame

Hi RubyStar, thank you. Dyzneys' titles include Aust Ch, Neut Champ, CCD, CD, AD, ADX, JD, JDX, SPD, HT, PT, HSAs, and ET. She is also a Multi V Rated specialty bitch and has had one litter of lovely puppies. Her awesomeness is just being herself. Dyz is just the most sweetest, gentlest of Rottis. She understands sentences and is so wonderful to live with. She has spunk and charisma, but is so impeccably well behaved... you know, all that stuff that older dogs are. I am proud to have her in public, she is an excellent advocate of the breed. She is great with kids, all animals and all people. She is what you would call bomb proof. And above all, her awesomeness includes fighting and beating the worst case of IMT that all her specialists had seen. Dyzney so nearly died 3 years ago, that we are just so lucky to still have her with us. And I am grateful for this every day and I think this is why everything she does blows me away. When I lay on the floor of ICU with her at Frankston AEC and Hallam AEC twice daily for hrs at a time for days and days, I promised Dyzney that if she pulled through, she would not have to do anymore training, showing or trialling. Considering how ill she was, it seemed like a miracle that she did survive. She survived the IMT to almost go down with stomach ulcers from all the medication. Almost a whole year after she fell ill, I brought her back into work. I felt guilty going back on my promise, but did it because I realised how wrong I was making the promise. Dyzney was well again and was craving work. She was a little depressed and needed to sink her teeth into something again. So, since recovery late 2009, Dyzney gained 7 of those titles and she is still working. To say I am proud of our girl is an understatement. Yes, the titles are nice, great in fact, but not what it is all about to me. What I love most is seeing that smile on her face and sparkle in her eye when she is out doing an agility course, or working sheep, strutting her stuff in the Neuter Class or swimming or playing with our other dogs. Every day, every cuddle, every laugh I share with Dyzney means the world to me. :) ... but we all feel this way about our dogs, don't we!! :)

Huge congrats to BB and Capanash. Well done.

Thanks guys. You are right, the run doesn't look too bad... I just know she left the start prematurely, so threw out my game plan, then she knocked the tyre hard, so that concerned me a bit in the beginning. I had not turned to see if there was any carnage. :D Yes, bless our darling Dyz. She is an absolute sweetheart. :)

Just another update to let you all know that our sweetheart Dyzney, at just 2 weeks of her 9th birthday, achieved her 5th Excellent Jumping pass yesterday at Altona to qualify for her JDX Title. I was over the moon and even had a few tears. Oddly enough, our title run was our messiest and slowest one on the day, but we got through and were awarded 3rd place also. A huge thank you to Geraldine for all her instruction and support. Thank you to Jenni for taking some awesome photos Dyzney now has 13 ANKC recognised titles to her name Here is our qually run

We have two with tails and one docked. The docked one was legally done when docking was "the norm" and she is 9 years old. When out in public we occasionally have people asking us about tails. I find the public are divided on their opinions and preferences for docked and tailed, but have never come across anyone being accusatory or aggressive about it. I have noticed that the majority of men that talk to us prefer docked and women prefer tails.. go figure Some people do not know the laws, ask some questions and we are happy to respond with information. We rarely offer our personal opinions, but prefer to stick to the facts and avoid any differences of opinion. When we have our dogs out in public, we are there as advocates of our breed and it is important to us to come across as approachable, friendly dog owners/enthusiasts with super friendly dogs. When and where possible we avoid being opinionated in this scenario. For us, owning Rottweilers is more about our passion and love for this magnificent breed and less about tails. Personally I prefer docked, but my breed means too much to me to let my ownership be affected by them now having tails. I never thought I would get used to the tails, but I am and it is now becoming more and more rare to see Rottweilers without tails, well bred ones anyway. You will still see the odd ones that are obviously "BY bred" with docked tails.

I have a Rottweiler that gets this also. I second what Nek has recommended as I also use this in this area surrounding the eyes.

Exactly what I was going to suggest. She needs you to teach her a solid down stay, for when you are home... with periodic releases and treat along the way. During the time she is not chewing her bedding or may but laying quietly. when she gets the hang of it, she can lay there with a chew that she is given. She needs to learn quiet time. If you are not up to training such, use a crate to help you.
