Thank you DDD. Today we took the puppies on another excursion to our K9+ warehouse. Here are a few short videos of some of the socialisation exercises, positive association and fun we had :D And a photo of my dear friend Ebony and her purple girl, Sage. Ebony is so thrilled with Sage, she kept spontaneously burst into moment of excitement with a few tears today... so cute. I am a very happy breeder. Only 2 weeks to go before the puppies go to their forever homes

All our puppies are getting individual chicken wing time shut in a crate. so we are allowing them private time to discover the joys of eating bones safely and sensibly whilst also creating a positive association with a crate. during the process we do "swap out" resource training with each puppy also with some roast chicken and so far not one is exhibiting any signs of resource guarding towards humans and I don't expect they will either. As soon as I open the door now, they drop their bone and look to me for their swap out treat or a pat. They can all also be patted whilst eating and have absolutely no issue with it at all. No, I don't necessarily believe in bothering dogs whilst they are eating, however I do think it is important to install the software in the informative days that will set them up for not having that resource guarding default, at least towards humans. One never knows what will happen when the puppies go to their homes no matter how much parents promise they will manage their children :) Purple girl is now called Sage and is going home with Ebony is a couple of weeks

I often wonder about that regarding people who have Rotties, Dobermanns and German Shepherds for example. I remember a long time ago, I had 8 Maltese in my home: two mine, two belonging to a neighbour and four belonging to a friend. Someone asked me how I could tell them apart and I was quite surprised because, to me, they were all so very different and markedly so. Ah yes, we aussies all the look the same too :) All Rottis are like chalk and cheese to me as it is with all enthusiasts of different breeds who have the same coloring. I think people who have an eye for a dog (particularly those studying conformation) can also see differences in breeds that are not their own. If I took the collars off my puppies and couldn't see genitalia, I could still tell them all apart just by looking at their faces, and it is a line bred very even litter. Just something we get used to I guess :)

Why didn't I get photos and videos today???? Oh yeh, that's right, it is near impossible to mow and photograph at the same time So the puppies had their first intro to the big noisy grass eater this morning. Perhaps it was the fact that they had already heard the same noise but from the neighbours mowers over the past few weeks or maybe it was the enrichment seeking training I have been putting into them thanks to Puppy Culture. Of course it also helps considerably to have great genetics to start with :) The puppies were great. All ventured out of their open pen into the main part of the yard where the mower was casually chomping away...screaming at the grass as it went. Green girl even decided to help hose off the blades afterwards

I know Karen, they grow like weeds don't they?! They are almost past the stage where I can carry two at a time. When they were little I could carry three LOL

Here are photos from a week ago with Stella, a girlfriend's Aussie. Soon we will be having a couple of Gordons owned be a fellow DOLer coming to visit, so getting a brought range of different types of dogs.

The puppies had their second Bowen therapy session this morning. All are doing extremely well. My Bowen therapist brought along his magnificent old boy, Huck (who is son of my beloved girl, Dyzney who passed away in November. Huck is the third outside dog the puppies have met. He spent at least half an hour outside with them just fluffing about.

Good question Katsdogs :D I am actually running on two pups from this litter, one of each sex. And I have chosen already. Choosing the bitch floated for me for the first 3 weeks from any one of the 4 stunning show potential bitches. None of the 5 bitches have any disqualifying faults, all lovely, however of course they all have their virtues and faults. One in particular is a stand out in type and temperament. She is an absolute cracker and I can't go past her. The male was harder, The one I chose at birth, floated away from and back to at around 2 weeks of age, only yesterday I finally moved away from again. It pains me as he is the male pick conformation wise. He is an outgoing and confident puppy a real enrichment seeker, but he doesn't have quite enough work ethic and temperament for me. So only yesterday I swapped to another puppy. He will be going into a lovely pet/part time show terms home, so I can see him mature and collect him later on. Over the next week I will be finalising which puppy is going to which home. They all have obvious temperaments and type which isn't changing much because it is a line breeding and none of them have gone off. I am very pleased with the whole litter. As soon as I am ready to put in registration in a couple of weeks I will announce the litter theme and puppy names

Thank you everyone. It means a lot to me Today (yesterday, Friday) I took the puppies on their first "off campus excursion" LOL. Boy was that a lot of preparation. I had to pack an incidentals bag and a cooly bag with all their bits and pieces in it. Then getting them all into the car was incredibly funny, but we managed very well. They had a ball. We drove to a breeder friends place where they have neutral dogs and a really big yard and a high up but safe for puppies decking, which has a sloping ramp up to it. So lots of socialization to different surfaces, habituated to a completely new environment. They played, slept, ate, pooped and peed, chased other dogs and we went home again. Big day, so good for them.
