  1. Yes there are loopholes and I understand that if a person wants to get a MR OR LR ANKC dog they now have to wait till the pup is 6 months before it can be exported. However speak to any pet transport company and they will tell you as long as it is over 12 weeks old the pup can be transported the buyers just get the papers for the pup when it is over 6 months. Some airlines wont fly dogs uunder 6 months - many still do though.
  2. Yay glad the desensitising works, he should be good around vacuum cleaners, cars, lawn mowers, guns, helicopters um cant rememebr the rest :)
  3. lol you crack me up - Sydney Labs shows are great but I had to say that the national last year in Victoria was amazing - 340+ Labs in 2 days wow what an experience
  4. Yes Kura is different Pania's father is Daphnes Grand father so they look similar to eachother, Kura's dad is different from the other's sires. She has a different head - we will see how madam matures - I would prefer better angulalation in the front but she has a great rear end and great bone and colour :) I am nit-picking though. :)
  5. lol no problem - we will be in Sydney for the Lab Show :) I might be there for some earlier if I get my act together
  6. LOL yes well Daffy Dog seems to have moved on from the washing atm but I have a small urban terrorist eyeing off the washing yesterday so everything is double hung so it is above jumping hight :) Yes TDX the black girls were stunning and I was going to keep the No 2 black girl - I offered the yellow to the family in Newcastle but they started to cry I couldnt do it! Im a sook I know breeders get very determined to not offer puppy buyers a puppy until the last minute. I get that and I understand why but I like my buyers to get to know their pups and to bond - these guys had bonded very strongly :). I would rather my kids went to the homes that really really want them and are very engaged in their well bring rather than just have a pet. So the black girls were my loss. However Kura is a beauty and I am very happy with her. She is very smart and confident and has the 'X' factor you want to see in the ring. So she should do well I think.
  7. Its filthy hot up here so everyone is inside - the big dogs are crashed in the air con - madam Kura is litteraly walking over everyone saying gday - Im waiting for the growls to start but everyone is being remakably tollerant
  8. Puppy-Sniifer yes Pania & Daphne are both 1/2 sisters to Sam the Man - they all share the same mum Invergowrie Lara. Sams sister has a need to shove her head halfway down the adults throat too - a disturbiung habit. I have attached a phot of his sister Kura an absolute sweetheart and very full of her own self importance. She will stack (of sorts) sit, drop come when called and walk remarkably well onlead. I thin she can compete with her brother on the 'manners' stackes but she hasnt destroyed anything yet so Samuel ESQ had dibs on that one.
  9. I need some advice we heading to berry for a weeks holiday with all the dogs. We will be taking all the crew with us. All adults have had heartworm injections. So we need tcik & flea treatment for the coase and we will be bringing the baby (she will be 13 weeks when we go) so what will work for her? Is revolution OK for the babay and what do you reccommend for the adults that works and is water resistant :)I will of course check with my but I am curious whats working ATM?
  10. May I ask what you are wanting your dog to assit you with? The type of assitance required of the dog will determine which training service might suit you.
  11. Wow baby boy is being loved :) Jodie and Stivie look very happy dogs too
  12. Hi Tsar2010 If you choose to breed and want to register your litter you will need to comply with the following, if you are planning to breed please consider doing this properly. I assume you already have point 1 & 2 in place. 1: You are a financial member of Dogs Vic 2: You have a breeders prefix approved by them ( I dont know the Vic laws but in NSW you apply for a prefix and you must complete an open book course before the prefix is approved.) 3: You male must have hips/elbows and I think they still test for heamophilia 4: Your bitch must have hips/elbows 5: These results will need to be lodged with Dogs Vic before the litter is whelped. I dont know about any other DNA test GSD's need these days. In choosing a brood bitch, conformation, type temperament and all the health tests must line up to your satisfaction. Research the dams whelping history, does she whelp easily, is she from a line a good nurturing mothers. You can have the prettiest girl in the world but if she comes from a crap line of whelpers or she is a poor mother ( two different things genetically) then that is a deal breaker for me. If you are keen on working style GSD's then stick within the Working GSD type - dont mix the two. Also what type of homes do you hope to get for the pups and what are you planning to keep a pup if any. You dont need to answer to anyone else on this one matter but it is important to answer for yourself. Why am I breeding? Have you considered the expense and the nutritional needs for a brood bitch. We breed Labs and it cost me in excess of $2000 per bitch to get a bitch to prepare for breeding with all the DNA testing, hips, elbows & eye test - and that doesnt include feeding her. Are you prepared for the behavioural changes in your male once he is mated. Testosterone will have impact and make him a physically stronger and more assertive dog. This is a best case senario if the bitch whelps well and is a good mum you might cover costs. But if she needs a ceasarian or cant feed and you need to suppliment the mooney begins to add up. My husbands friend mated his backyard Rotti male to his backyard Rotti female ( against my advice) she whelped 12 pups - mum developed mastitis and the pups had to be hand raised so they were bottle fed the whole litter. Because it was an unregistered litter he couldnt get more than $500 per pup. So $500 x 12 sounds ok eh thats $6000. Now considering the vet bill and expenses cost $5867 - these wasnt much love left for that experience. Bitch and dog now both desexed. And lets not talk about the time involved in feeding and raising the litter - do you want to put a monetary value on that?? As to wether you consider your male breed worthy or not I cannot comment, however as has been suggested, please contact your breeder for their appraisal of him atleast. Ask your breeder which lines she would recommend.I have absolutely no issue with people wishing to breed their dogs - the worth of any brood bitch or stud dog is subjective - I just feel people need to have their eyes wide open and consider all the obligations to do it right. If you wish to discuss things further feel free to PM me.
  13. When on Xmas day 5 adult Labradors, an 8 week old Lab pup & a Border Collie X lept onto the bed surround your husband when I got up to go to the loo at 0500 in the morning. You so know your not getting back into bed and the husband cant get out from under the sheets.
  14. Wow Julie what an amazng wrap :) very honoured. I've attached photos of the kids and must say Katrina and Greg are besotted. Just finished dinner with them at the pub .... thank god its only up the road. Sammy ESQ is having his supper and settled for the night wth his sisters. Here is a picture of him and the girls. Sammy is the boof head on the right. Alyson it was such a wonderful relief to have s reliable and utterly trustworthy person looking after our kids. I know the girls and Crofty Dog loved every minute of it.
  15. Lab - they will like minded natures they will uinderstand each other body language easily and two Labs are better than 1 or maybe 3 or 4 or.... labs are great to live with. If you have a settled 18month old then the pup is more likely to mimick and copy good behaviour. Not that I am biased
  16. I have a pup going to a home in Newcastle area can anyone recommend a good puppy pre-school and a good obedience club form ongoing training in the area please. The new owners are adults with no kids keen to learn and train the pup.
  17. Here is an example. Do you like this hot little number TD? I think life jackets are sensible and a good safety option for a pooch on a boat.
  18. I agree that the 'friendly' one will possibly invite people to allow their dogs to approach unthinkingly. I think that there are two issues regarding walking dogs. There are dogs that are people shy and need to be out and about to de-sensitise being around people, and there are dog with dog issues. I would like everyone to ask me first before approaching any dog whether friendly or not. I just think it is good manners.
  19. They are all very camera / people oriented, they will Sammy and the yellow girl will walk away from food to come to me or Pete.Cool eh :) BTW they visit Petes work next week :)
  20. Oh I do - Tua my big black girl had a litter of 12 ... all black.
  21. Depending on the breed and where the scars are if the dog is truley a good specimen they persevere about 40% would not award a challenge IMO, so why not persevere if you believe in your dog. Hopefully judges will ask and you can get a chance to explain.
  22. They are definately getting more active, vocal and shall we say productive
