  1. I def agree, personally if I was showing a dog, it would be constantly under my watchful eye...or at least padlock the bloody crate! Not having dealt with chi's I don't know what a screaming chi sounds like.
  2. The show is quite noisy, there would have been plenty of dogs barking, yapping, etc, the noise could quite easily have been drowned out.
  3. I'm glad everything went well for Misty's surgery. OH read the email and was almost in tears because we weren't able to help financially. I'll let him know the good news.
  4. I'd suggest finding a decently running Holden Rodeo dual cab ute to test drive. I would never thought I'd like a dual cab ute [with canopy], but now we own one [1995 model], and it's the best car for dogs, trips and even city driving. It has a V4 so is very fuel efficient [OH travels 500ks for work a week and uses about $60 in petrol], but not the slowest thing on the road by a long shot. It's comfortable and easy to drive, and has plenty of room [my friend calls it my clown car, as I can stow a hell of a lot of stuff in it]. We also find it very safe when travelling away, as us and the dogs are separated from our camping gear/luggage.
  5. Yeah it is, its a photo of my first chick hatching in my incubator. It managed to get it's wing out the shell before the rest of it!
  6. I am. This is my entry. They've released a 6th Brief for it, with support from Channel 9 and The Today Show. http://community.canon.com.au/blogs/eos/ar...-6th-brief.aspx
  7. Hope everyone enjoyed themselves, sorry I couldn't make it, I just became a mother to septuplets [with more still on their way!]
  8. Me too! I've read through the thread, and I see where both sides are coming from. I also have to agree with what monelite has said and kja's point To me there are heaps of levels in 'professional' photographer [in commas, as I am talking about anyone who charges for photos for arguments sake], just like there are levels of customers. It's the same in any type of business. The high level photographers are going to get their business from people who want excellent quality photos and service, and are happy to pay for it...they're not going to get the low end clients who want some nice photos for cheap...that's where the amateur photographers, who are happy to work for a lot less take up those people. And there are plenty in between. Same in the industry Monelite works in. My partner and I are into the hobby she caters for. We are the kind of people who will fork out the money for the German imported, well made, has a guarantee, equipment...to an extent. We have our fair share of cheap stuff too [mainly due to our budget], but try to buy quality both in equipment and livestock. But a good friend of mine, she buys the cheapest stuff she can. Two ends of the scale...and two ends of a market catering for it. At the beginning of the year my MIL got remarried [some of you might remember as I came in here asking advice]. I was asked to do the photos solely, which I declined [too stressful since we already had to drive 5 hours to get there and it was summer] but did take some photos anyway with a professional photographer doing her stuff [who IMO needed to learn some confidence and LOUD voicing]. My photos came out alright...I wasn't particularly pleased with them [i haven't seen the professional ones yet], but apparently my MIL likes the ones I took [on a Lumix point and shoot], BETTER than the ones she paid for. According to OH she was quite disappointed with the photos she saw from the professional shoot. My point being, if people want quality...they'll search it out and be prepared to pay for it. But client's idea of quality is subjective, just like photographers is. You may think that photo A is the best photo in the lot, but the client may hate it but love photo D [which you think is total rubbish].
  9. Yeah it is. Most of mine have minimal PSing. Mainly to touch up or alter colours, remove unwanted blemishes, etc.
  10. You aren't the only one. IMO they're even worse than the finalists from last year.
  11. The last seat has been filled. Managed to rope another friend into coming. If we get any music questions, he'll be our saviour! Look forward to seeing you all tonight.
  12. Port Pirie. Bah that is no beach...you don't want to swim there [or drink their tap water for that matter]
  13. I might be there. But it is the hatch date for my chickens.
  14. Ugh reflections are so annoying. Last time I went to the zoo I forgot my polarising filter. So many shots were stuffed by reflections.
  15. A and G, your dog is gorgeous!!
  16. Its lube with food colouring in it. And I used the pipette to force air into the droplet.
  17. This is the one I uploaded for droplet: One of my fave outtakes:
  18. And as per usual there is masses of people who cannot upload their photos. I ended up having to send mine to a friend to upload...kept telling me my photo description was too long.
  19. I'm really disappointed this year, they've hardly given a decent time frame. Last year you had about 2 months to upload the shots. Not to mention the packs arrived really late this year.
  20. You should be able to click on the little box where it says 72pt and type your own size in. Or select the move tool and bounding box with squares in the corners should appear. Click and hold one of the squares and pull it so it makes it larger.
  21. I love wrigglers The Pei pups I've looked after were all wriggle bums. Spot is also a wriggler and Peggie has a helicopter tail when she is really excited.
  22. Boiling water will kill quite a lot, good for those paver areas. Goodo I'll try some now Boiling water is great for paving areas, but be careful about doing it in the garden. The boiling water will kill off all the microbes and worms in the soil, effectively leaving 'dead zones' of soil where plants may have difficulty growing.

  24. I didn't know that! Those fox babies though... far out they are cute. I Have to remind myself they turn into adult foxes with those sly eyes Yeah. Fox cubs are very cute, but after witnessing the destruction they cause as adults...it's really horrible. I have a few first hand stories of what foxes do during lambing season but I'll spare you the details.
