Love your shot Bje!! So moody

It will solve the issue of having 2-12 dogs going after one ball/toy and causing possible fights over who ends up with the ball. These items trigger a much higher likelihood of fights in a group of dogs as large as we get at the dog meets because they are often seen as prey items. I take my dogs to the DOL meets to socialise them with other dogs and to meet new people. Yes the occasional tiff does happen when two dogs aren't taking to each other but the fights over balls and other toys have been a lot more serious. Just because a dog resource guards balls/toys does not mean they will resource guard people or food. If people want to take their dog to play fetch at a park that is fine, just please don't chose the dog meet to do it. But if everyone else sees differently to what I am seeing, I'll just refrain from coming along to the meets.

I would like to say something, but before I do I want to reiterate the fact I am not in anyway attacking any individual who comes to the meet. This is a generalised statement. Some of you who came on Sunday are probably aware that there was a bit of a fight between two dogs. One of the dogs being one of mine. This fight was over a tennis ball someone bought along and was throwing for a dog. Both the dogs who went for it are extremely ball orientated and are known resource guard them. It is not the first fight these two dogs have been in over a tennis ball and it was quite lucky niether dog was injured either time. I removed the offending ball from the sight of all the dogs but less than 5 minutes after the fight another ball was being thrown. And a little while after that someone bought out a squeaky ball. Can people please refrain from bringing toys like tennis balls or squeaky toys to the meets. They cause more grief than good with so many dogs running together. We've had fights break out over nothing before, we do not need to add elements such as prey objects to highten the likelihood of fights. You may know that your dog is fine with balls or squeakers and doesn't resource guard BUT not everyone else's are and you do not know which ones are ok and which ones aren't. So please respect this and leave balls and squeaky toys at home when you come to the DOL meet.

My photo is nothing real spectacular today...it's not even in focus properly. It's mainly the subject that excited me. I have tadpoles in my pond and today whilst fixing up my mistake of forgetting the hose was on filling the pond up, I saw the first frog in my pond. It was the only decent shot I got of the little thing before it hopped off. To put his size into perspective that is the power cord running to the pump he is clinging to. Day Five Tiny

Love your cat Bje! Does he have a white nose or is it just the post processing?
-
What about fluffy chicken tooshies?
-
Of course you can join! It's never too late. Flick Mac-I like the second one, the sepia cows shot

tlc-yeah the laptop is my new toy! I've spent a fair bit of today sitting on my bed [with a dog] and playing games. Said dog is currently trying to steal my shortbread biscuits! Luv Lottie-both shots are great, but I like the poles better. Its a cool shot and the colours are awesome. Like I posted in the other thread MM, I love the kitty. Me wants!
-
go nothin-yeah its my new toy! luv lottie- I really like both of them, but the top one is my fave. Love the colours mavericks mission-I can has, yes? What a gorgeous kitty!

It really depends on the dog. Some will give it up, others won't and will continue harrassing the chickens. Slightly off topic, but I have noticed a lot of chicken/poultry related threads popping up lately. Just a friendly reminder that there is a dedicated Poultry thread where any and all chicken [and other poultry] related questions are more than welcome. Poultry Thread

I'm a little scared though, because I'm not particularly photogenic. Might have something to do with me always being behind the camera! But I guess it will be good practice since I can't be behind the camera for my wedding photos next year. [ I'm getting married next year! ]

Day Four: My Day... *disclaimer* I haven't actually spent all day in bed. I've watered the garden, chased the chickens out the veggie patch and erected a fence to keep them out of the veggies.
-
Gorgeous Zenith! Awww how cute tlc, my dogs are a bit like that. 'ooo we've been bathed, time to roll in the dirt/gravel/grass/flowers' Nik-I'm loving your self portraits...I might give a month of self portraits a go next month. This is how my day has been mainly spent [other than chasing chickens out my veggies and erecting a fence to keep them out] Day Four: My day...

Lovely photos everyone, let me know if I haven't added you to the first post. Zenith, your Day 3 shot is gorgeous! I love the DOF of it. What lens and f/stop did you use?
-
I have some very similar shots I took at the beach, same type of wasp and a spider just as big. The wasp then dragged the spider about 10 metres up the ramp and into some rocks. Day 3: Hungry

And Pele got very upset when you moved the ute/food supply didn't she? Yeah that was hilarious! And Rosie was a bit pathetic wasnt she? Poor girl wasn't happy with her muzzle.

Ravyk replied to Lyla's topic in Photos, Photos, Photos
But they're still pretty good to entry level DSLR lenses from what I have heard. -
You're more than welcome to join luvlottie! I'm looking forward to tomorrow! I'm off to the zoo.
-
that looks divine kja! Yes Rosie played the pathetic card quite a lot at the DOL meet...it was quite amusing watching her just flop down next to wherever KelpieHoundMum was standing and put on the most pathetic look possible.
-
Oh I also ended up with a drink bottle left in the back of my ute. It's a 'united water' bottle.
-
Peggie is there too bertie slack for someone wanting to steal her.
-
Yeah that's basically it Catherine, a photo a week of your dog for the year.
-
I like it Nik, it has a lot of emotion in it. My day 2. Frustrated Poor Rosie couldn't play with the other doggies without her muzzle, so she decided to make everyone feel sorry for her.
