he is wear one of the bucket collars yes. apparently he was walking with his head on one side before the operation [he was desexed on the 29th]
-
My dog is walking around with head on the side and keeps shaking his head side to side like hes trying to dislodge something. I had a quick look in his ear-it looks a bit red compared to his other ear-but its also the ear that was tattooed [a few days ago when he was desexed] could he have an ear infection?
-
hes approx 1 year old
-
the raw stuff should be perfectly fine for a young pup.
-
thankyou!! he doesnt seem to be in much pain...just discomfort from the stitches so the swelling should go down in a few days??
-
I had my male cattle X desexed yesterday, and I'm not sure how much swelling is good and at what point I should be worried. I've noticed that his scrotum seems to be swelling/filling with liquid and looks quite large. [i tend to over react-but I have no idea if it ok or not] Is that normal after being desexed? I have been keeping him as quiet as possible. He goes for a few short wanders in the garden occasionally and has only managed to run and bark at two or three dogs at the gate. Should I be keeping him quieter?? Any help would be appriciative [if i can i'll snap a picture of it]

we found out the problem. the girl at the vet hadnt made it properly and the tabs that hold the collar were digging into his neck and throat-hes not huffing any more
-
yes its attached to his collar i can just get my index finger in between the bucket collar and his neck. what is a tanti?
-
I bought Spot home today from the vet after being desexed and I'm a bit worried about the bucket collar. I dont know if its just that hes not used to the collar or if it is constricting his breathing a bit. Is it normal for dogs to huff a bit with the collar on??

R.I.P Danny 1995 It may have have been 13 years since you crossed the rainbow bridge, but you always have that special place in my heart. You were my first dog, perfect in everyway, never minding about the little thing crawling on your back for rides. I hope you are keeping Mickey and Zach in line up there! Run free and chase the butterflies...maybe now you'll catch one. R.I.P Whinney 1996 You were the horse I first learnt to ride. You were always so gentle...even when I was hiding carrots from you. Thankyou for being such a good horse to such a little annoying kid-I'll never find another one of you. I'm sorry I couldnt have been there when you needed me, I'm sorry you had to die alone, I'm sorry I couldn't save you. R.I.P Blueberry, Emma and Jemima [1995, 1996, ????] Blueberry, you were a hell cat, but I know under the hissing, biting and scratching, you were still a good cat...sometimes. Emma, my first cat...probably as beautiful now as back then. I miss the cuddles you gave...and sorry for stepping on your tail. I miss you. Jemima-I will never know what happened to you, my boomarang kitty. We just couldnt rehome you, then you disappeared...I'm sorry for stuffing your kittens in drawers so they wouldnt run away from me. One of your kitties is still alive and well next door...I see parts of you in her. R.I.P Lisa 2002 :p Oh Lisa...I am so sorry I wasnt there that day the dog attacked you...I'm sorry there was nothing we could do to save you. You were and awesome poddy lamb, even if you peed on the kitchen floor too much. I remeber the day mum bought you home...you were so small and wobbly and slid around the slate floor until you collapsed into my lap. I still have the photo of you when we washed you...looked like we'd deflated you...I miss you terribly. Find Madeline if you can. After all these years...it still hurts so bad...If I was home, Danny wouldnt have had to die a horrible death from fox bait, Whinney wouldnt have died in a creekbed from colic and Lisa wouldnt have been attacked by a dog...I still blame myself for their deaths sometimes...it never seems to get any easier to bear

i tend to go to a few places Flagstaff hill butchers-for bags of bones, chicken wings/necks Flagstaff hill foodland-for whole chicken carcasses, offal Aberfoyle Park [Hub] Woolworths-for lamb offcuts [curiously which castle plaze butcher is it?? the one next to the gourmet shop or the other one?]
-
i feed my dog bones regularly and she's never had a problem [except on one occasion where my b/f's brother thought it would be good to cook the bone for her first-luckily she had no ill effects apart from vomiting up a few bone shards and grass seeds-thank god he's now learnt] maybe try whole chicken carcasses instead of wings-gives larger dogs more reason to chomp on it, not swallow it.

o.0 wow this turned into a bit of an arguement. I believe the reason they dont want to desex her is because it can stunt/change the growth of the dog also my dog tends not to drip when shes in heat, so thats not an issue
-
aww that is soooo cute! and so kind *tears up*

[if this is the wrong forum section can someone please move it] My boyfriend and I have a bitza female who isnt desexed [the dog, although has adopted me, belongs to his mother]. She just turned three. Both are adament about not getting her desexed-I cant quite remember their reasoning. We are very careful with her-making sure she doesnt get out while in heat, generally keeping undesexed males away from her and continously keep an eye on her when she is around other dogs. As much as puppies would be fun [not saying that I would want her to have them-we do not need anymore pups on the market]-I'm getting a bit antsy with them not allowing her to be desexed. I've offered to pay for it as well. Is there any way I can make them see sense in getting her desexed?
