I feed my dogs the BARF diet [biologically accurate raw food/bones and raw food diet] which consists of mainly raw meaty bones and pulped up raw veggies with egg and other things added to it. I find it quick easy and cheap [the dogs get the veggie scraps from the main meal]. They get a range of meaty bones, from chicken wings/necks to lamb offcuts and occasionally a beef bone sliced down the middle so they can get to the marrow. If you want a list of what I feed my dogs, I'm more than happy to give it to you If you are interested, read the book "Give your dog a bone" by Dr Ian Billinghurst [founder of BARF]-I found it really good. It goes through commercial dog food, whats in it and why it isnt the best for your dogs, and then goes through all the main food groups [meat, grain, veggies, fruit, other] and the pros and cons of feeding that to dogs. makes a very interesting read.

WOW!!! MTD that is gorgeous!! i so would stick that on my wall as a blown up photo! -
thanks puggy!! thats really helpful!

you dont need to worry as long as they are raw. the bones tend to be very soft so its very rare if a raw bone splinters and perforates their gut. its the cooked ones that are bad, because the bones go brittle and splinter waay more easily

yeah...i feel sorry for my boyfriend-hes in port augusta today-43 degrees!!! -
im sorry to hear your loss goldens... R.I.P doggies I'm not a big fan of vaccines, especially the kennel cough one, mainly because its actually gives them the disease, but a milder form. I took my dog to the vet when she had it and my vet said that a healthy active dog will get over kennel cough by itself [since it is basically the canine version of the flu] and i decided against that vaccine. I will vaccinate dogs with the 'necessary' ones, [distemper, hepatitis and parvovirus] but i try to stay away from any other vaccines...they cause more grief the help sometimes

thats the same as mine, they wont touch offal by itself so i mince it up in their veggie mixture occasionally i've also found, since changing to a raw diet, my dogs [one in particular] is a lot less fussy than she used to be-we used to waste 10-15 dollars a week on food she wouldnt eat, now she loves her food, whatever it is

thanks poodlefan andisa, i stand and watch them eat them just incase they try inhaling their food, but they both tend to crunch them up-which is good

i dont think its too bad for dogs, if there are any nasties in the water the fish would die first! the bacteria in the water is probably good for them to an extent

i dont feed cooked bones to my dogs...ever. my boyfriends brother did that to one dog, and we had her vomiting up bone shards at 4am-quite a scary experience!! my dogs are fed on a varient of the BARF diet. they dont get cooked meat or commercial dog food of any kind. everything they eat is raw-like the way nature intended it to be! i do normally feed them chicken wings, but the shops were out when i went, so i had to get chicken necks instead. thanks for your help
-
How many/much of chicken necks should I feed my dogs?? one is a 1-2yo 21.7kg ACDX the other is a 3 yo 13kg bitza terrier they also get fed a vegetable pulp with different things added to it on a regular basis, as well as lamb offcuts every few days

bones i find are the best teeth cleaners...my dogs eat a regular amount of bones and their teeth are almost perfect-no tatar build up and they are quite white too. why cant/wont you feed bones to them?

if you have photoshop you can use the darkening brush to darken the grass or you could try the cloning brush to remove it -

the vet said she would look in his ear while he was under the anethestic-i presume she did and i presume there wasnt anything there because she didnt mention it to me when i picked him up. he has stopped doing it this morning so I think thats a good sign-i think it might just have been the tattoo, but i'll check later when I take off the bucket collar for awhile [he hates it majorly]
