  1. If you ever find out what scum did it, I'll be up their with my pitchfork and torch ready to lynch the bastard. Poor puppy. Hope he makes a full recovery

:D It's hard losing ones so young. Glad to hear that the remaining pups seem to be good. I hope you do not lose any more.
  3. I agree with this, that's how I check mine are at a good weight.
  4. I don't have any advice, but sending healing thoughts to your foxie. Poor little mite.
  5. Its just light hitting the back of her retinas, similar to those 'laser eye' dog photos you see, just not as obvious. Also kinda like 'red eye' you get in some photos of people. Cute photos! Love the one with the dummy!
  6. Its a wolf spider it babies on its back. I love spiders, although red backs and white tips get a one way trip in our yard. All the rest are allowed to stay inside undisturbed unless they are above the bed or toilet.
  7. ditto with the bones. and personally I don't think there is enough fat in roo meat for the average dog. And personally I wouldn't touch the 'allergy blend' with a 10 foot pole. I would have thought the less things in an allergy blend the better.
  8. I'd be interested and more than happy to pay a deposit beforehand. Well those who didn't show missed out on an awesome weekend!! Thanks heaps for coming Cosmolo, my dogs, OH and I really benefited from it.

I'm so sorry about your loss of puppies. Sending lots of positive and healing vibes to the remaining puppies. I hope the rest survive and live to be strong healthy puppies. Like a few have suggested, I'd be finding a different vet.
  10. By the sounds of it he is enjoying them. Leaving them bigger, particularly if he goes off and gnaws on them is good, its when they swallow them whole its more of a worry. But remember to watch him while he eats it.
  11. I love tawnies. The local wildlife rescue had three babies last time I went there. They tried eating my fingers.
  12. I'd suggest getting your hands on a copy of "Give your dog a bone" by Dr Billinghurst. Also have a wander into the Raw and Natural Chitchat thread: http://www.dolforums.com.au/index.php?showtopic=172826 They'll be able to help you too.

  14. My dogs generally don't need bathing because they go to the beach so often, but if they were really smelly or dirty, I would definitely wash them before surgery. Two reasons, I don't take my dogs to the groomers [i do all the grooming myself] and I've never had a flea or tick problem with my two.
  15. Just make sure you take the excess water off their coats. Leaving coats soaking wet actually encourages the water to retain heat. Same with racehorses - which is why you see them slicked off after a hose down. Yes should have mentioned that! I drop a towel over their backs and run my hands up and down their backs and sides to soak up most of the water.
  16. That is perfectly fine. A healthy dog will not starve itself. I have had a fussy dog who missed out on three meals [breakfast, dinner, breakfast] before she decided she'd eat what I gave her. I felt horrible doing it, but I needed a non-fussy dog as she was costing me quite a lot of money in uneaten dog food. No double dinner, just his normal dinner. I would put the food down for a little longer than 5 minutes, say about 10-15, but thats just how I'd do it.
  17. From what I have heard this isn't so, and doggy sunscreen has exactly the same ingredients as human sunscreen just an inflated price. We've put Bananaboat sunscreen on our dogs a few times with no reactions [they love to sunbake their bellies]. I have also heard that sensitive skin/baby sunscreen is good for using on dogs.
  18. I agree with all who had said not to clip the coats. I'd rather rack up a massive aircon bill, than clip their gorgeous coats. I'd suggest cool water, iceblocks, cool coats/mats and if you can, hose them down regularly. I hose my two dogs down regularly on hot days to keep them cool [they generally then go roll on my bed, evil buggers! ]
