  11. This evening we decided to go to a local oval [15mins drive from us] to let the dogs run around. When we got there, there was two ladies with a 2 whippets and two westies [found out later one was a westie X] on the other side, so we stuck to one side of the oval. We let our dogs off and started throwing the balls to them and the whippets came over and joined in. After a while the westies joined in too, and I went over to chat to the ladies. As we were talking about our dogs, a few more people came down with their dogs. They all seemed to know each other, and I found out that they have an informal dog meet on every night at 6:30 at this oval. In the end there was Spot, Peggie, two whippets, a westie, westie X, two cavvies [both beautifully fit and healthy too], a huge miniature schnauzer, fox terrier puppy, and 4 various poodle X's. All the dogs got on so well together and I was so proud of Spot who let the foxy jump all over him while playing. All the people there commented how well our two bigger dogs got on with all the little dogs. They are all very well clued in on good dog ownership and there wasn't any scuffles [a few growls here and there but nothing serious] I am so happy I've found this group of lovely people and wonderful dogs.
  12. I like to take my dogs everywhere, but I will always ask first and I won't be offended if people say no. It is their house, their rules.
  13. Me and my two crazy dogs will definitely be there
  14. Will be nice to see you there Cazz. Well I'll be at the Jan 3rd meet
  15. MIL is down with her dogs. One of her dogs is...well not trained at all. She will sometimes come when called and will sit maybe one out of 10 commands. That is all she knows. She was totally spoilt by her previous owner and was given away because she became a pest. I am doing a little work with her while she is down for the Xmas break. I'm having a few issues though. Every time I go to praise her with pats, she rolls on to her stomach into a submissive position. How can I rectify this? It makes it difficult to praise her for sitting because as soon as I go to pat her, she rolls over thus her thinking she gets praised for rolling over. I am also looking for some kind of food treat I can use that is yummy to dogs, but not fattening. The MIL's dogs are both extremely overweight and are constantly being overfed no matter how much she is told that they need to eat less/be exercised more.
  16. I think the top ones are Crested Terns and the last bird I identified as a juvenile Pacific Gull because of the beak shape [which you cannot see in this photo!]
  17. My friehd's GSD. I did not expect her to take a flying leap at me when I lay on the carpet!
  18. Went for a trip down the coast today...got a few shots of some sea birds.
  19. I'll ask my friend who lives up in Mt Barker, but I know you can buy Turkey necks at the Woolies there. Fish tends to be best bought from a fishmonger. I am yet to find one close to me, the only one I know is the fish markets out at Pt Adelaide. I get my pet meat from Rural Pet Meats at O'Halloran Hill on South Rd. They have chicken, roo, turkey and I think lamb as well. Their turkey [necks] is $2.20kg, roo [tail sections] is around $2.50kg, chicken necks I think are $1.20-$1.50kg. Not sure about anything else as I haven't bought anything more from them.
  20. Some one has started a topic on flies already. http://www.dolforums.com.au/index.php?showtopic=183778
  21. Dog food eh?? You sure you aren't building zombies?
  22. No, one is a poodle X and the other is a Tibbie. They do live in the same house, so I was wondering if it could be diet related. I don't know what exactly they have, I'll get OH to ask next time he is there. Joint guard...I'll ask if they are giving it to them, thanks Ash
  23. What could cause calcium deposits in the spine of a dog? OH's mates two dogs [11 and 7yo] both have calcium deposits on their spines. Anyone have any idea what could cause this and how to prevent it from continuing?
