They look really good. Might have to investigate getting myself some. Spot would love them!
-
I adopted Spot at 1 year old [turned out closer to 2 according to the vet] unseen from NSW. We have had a few minor issues but nothing too drastic, a little training fixed that all up. He fitted in well with out then 3 year old. Personally I wouldn't call 1 one year old an older dog, but that's just me.

I would like two please [of the same type as the OP]...whoever can get them for me.
-
Lots of dogs, fur, drool and crazy dog people!!
-
I'd be interested in one of the first ones, if that is ok.

Thanks heaps!!

Do you know the lesson costs, memebership fees, etc for Noarlunga? And the times for their Sunday and Monday classes?
-
Does the Noarlunga club have a website? And is it only on a Wednesday? I'm kind of restricted to doing it on a Monday, Friday or weekends, and I do sport Tues-Thurs. Cant do Southern Districts, I do karate that night and I drive past it. IMO it's too big for my liking. I want a small club.

Hi all, I am looking for an obedience club to start taking my dogs to. I am in the Flagstaff Hill/Aberfoyle Park area. I am willing to travel up to approx 40 minutes for the right club. I would prefer: -a club that focuses on positive training -a club with reasonably small classes -a club that offers other dog sports as well as obedience as I'd like to do agility and fly ball with my dogs. [not necessary though] and if possible one with the above, plus relatively close.

Obedience Instructors Going Too Far!
Ravyk replied to Miss Squish's topic in Training / Obedience / Dog Sports
Huh? Are you referring to my post? I don't attend the club or even live in SA, I am just saying that people who witnessed it have messages me privately about the incident. Would you mind responding to my questions regarding why the dog would be punished after being returned to the class and why it was off leash in the first place? So far not one instuctor from the club has been willing to answer. Honestly your behaviour on this forum would put me off attending the club regardless of if Miss Squish's account of the incident is accurate or not. Me too. I am pretty sure I know which club it is and I can tell you I will not be attending it nor recommending it to anyone. The unprofessionalism of tazmadman and MsFaye on the forum does not leave me much hope in their professionalism at the club. If there is nothing to hide, why not answer the questions that a couple people in the thread regarding the training and reprimand techniques, instead of treating everyone here like they are idiots and don't know the first thing about training. [Just for your FYI a few of the members posting and asking questions in here ARE dog behaviourists and know what they are talking about.] The fact you are avoiding these questions makes me wonder what the club does have to hide. Every sees what happens differently, just because their account is slightly different to someone else's, doesn't mean they are a liar. Each person is different and pick up on slightly different things in an incident, you don't see police witness statements all identical from an incident. It's doesn't mean someone is lying, it just means they saw the incident differently. I don't see why s/he would be kicked off? She wasn't particularly polite, but I don't think she actually broke any rules? Yes s/he has. Personally attacking the OP is against the rules. Calling her a liar and such is classified as personal attacks. -
Sorry to go back to this point. It will definitely not make him like it. It will actually have the opposite effect and probably cause some deep rooted phobias. Some dog do not like the water ever, others take to it like a fish. I have a dog who is EXTREMELY water phobic. When I got him he was scared of any body of water bigger than a dog bowl, watering cans, hoses, taps, you name it. It took me three months of solid work just to be able to bathe him for the first time. Took about the same amount of time to get him to drink from the clam pool. We had some major set backs as OH's brother thought it was fun to spray him with the hose. We take him to the beach regularly. First time he freaked majorly, wouldn't go on anything but the really dry sand. Now 15 months on from getting him he will go into water up to about 10cm deep. We don't push him too much, but he will now retrieve tennis balls from water up to his chest [about 30cm deep] and we have carried him out into calm water and he's swum around a bit then headed back to shore. We use a lot of praise and rewards when he does do go into the water of his own accord.

Good on you Zensu!! I'd still ring Animal Welfare and dob them in, plus the council for an unregistered dog [once the pup hits 3 months]

Yeah ours come on holiday with us. We've found some GORGEOUS camping spots that are dog friendly.
-
That's what I was thinking...pity I have to work all day tomorrow.
-
I'd be on the phone to animal welfare tomorrow and TELL THEM WHAT IS GOING ON!! Tell them that you know this person is going to ring animal welfare and say they've got a stray when they're just getting rid of their dog. Would they surrender the dog to someone?

Awww poor baby. When Peggie was speyed she would lie on the bed belly up where the air from the aircon was blowing. She was a miserable dog as the pain meds knocked her around a lot-to the point we took her off them.
-
All places have been added to the first posts. Keep them coming!!
-
Spot would be: -A mattress, bedding and couch comfort tester. -A food taster Peggie would be: -A quality control officer [testing the durability of items] -A fun police
-
x2 please? Will pay for it and postage too. That is awesomeness!

Generally the first time camping is the most stressful. I was really worried the first time we took them camping, but since the dogs take everything in their stride. They LOVE camping! Our favourite place to camp is Southend on the Limestone Coast SA in their bush camping grounds. Ours are generally off lead in the camp site as there isn't normally anyone else around and they just hang around the camp site or lie on the sand dune behind the tent [or try to steal food from the car!]. I have plenty... Southend SA [Oct 2009] Greenlake, Sealake VIC [Oct 2009] Murray Kulkyne, VIC [Oct 2009] Chatting to a lady who's travelling around Australia in a van with her dog, Southend, SA [Feb 2010] My fave photo, "The Salmon Hole", Beachport, SA [Feb 2010] Stopped for a drink, Old Coorong Road, Coorong NP [Feb 2010]

Looking For Places To Stop Along The Way
Ravyk replied to claireybell's topic in General Dog Discussion
If you are going via the Great Ocean Road, about 10-20 mins out of Lorne [Melb side] there is a estuary that had a large area of sand for the dogs to run around. When we stopped there, the dogs had an awesome time and quite a few other people turned up to let their dogs have a stretch. -
There is usually a spot on our couch... Ok, maybe a Spot MONSTER!

Bah! You may still have emotional attachment to the husky, BUT she is no longer yours, no matter what he says or thinks. He sounds like a real jerk. But still make sure you do have fun snowboarding in NZ, I would love to do it myself!
