Is She Pure Or What Does She Have In Her?
Bullbreedlover replied to Sunnyflower's topic in General Dog Discussion
Have been reading the thread since it started. Daisy is beautiful. I have just rehomed one of my BM's up near Mackay to an absolutely beautiful family. A very very hard decision to make I have to say. Best of luck. Bullmastiffs are the most beautiful of breeds if anyone is considering a purebred. -
Code Of Ethics Breached And Dogs Qld Don't Seem To Care
Bullbreedlover replied to Puppoochi's topic in General Dog Discussion
Sadly poodiful this is the real world. I can post every single peice of information I have about a breach of Qld and ANKC rules which happened a couple of years ago, and the result but it will not change the fact that DogsQld in alot of cases do not have the breed ethics close to their heart. And I am not nitpicking with DogsQld. I have facts. Even taking it all the way to the top didnt help. So be prepared for them to not actually do anything anyway -
I have recently rehomed one of my girls. She was an ex show dog and an aussie champ. She was desexed last year anyway so that wasnt an issue. As per regulations with our canine control her papers were filled in and transferred and they duly received the papers in their name.

dogs can pace when walking and pace when moving faster. For a few breeds in the show ring it is very acceptable. Pacing is the most easiest form of movement as told to me there are ways to move them out of a pace and that is to start off at a burst of speed when first moving them. And then controlling that speed to a trot.

exactly.. when does it end. when do people get it through their thick skulls the powers that be have it so wrong how disgusting poor doggies

Aggressive Dogs And Public Places
Bullbreedlover replied to Odin-Genie's topic in General Dog Discussion
Simple answer....NO! and I own a DA dog. I would never ever place him nor me in a situation like that -
Yes, Gerry was very nice and reasured me all the semen he recieved is under lock & key and tanks being topped up. He has promised to check the paperwork tonight, as at this point there is no record of ours. I'm very p*ssed at GTpets though, it seemed like I was enquiring about a toaster, not irreplaceable breeding material. was very 'nice' of gt to let us know our semen had been moved. Just had an email from GT in VIC, they won't recieve the QLD FP files until later in the week and will investigate further when they arrive. all fingers crossed. fifi I agree Gt and FP have acted very very unprofessionally. I am now OK as to where my frozen semen is. But am still not impressed by the whole scenario.

I phoned Gerry early last week. he checked to make sure my semen was with him and phoned me back the same avo. As promised byhim I received a letter in the mail today.

Question For Owners Of Reactive Dogs
Bullbreedlover replied to corvus's topic in General Dog Discussion
I am always on high alert Monah, but I do not feel that my vibes I give off mke it any worse. He is what he is. I try to avoid putting him in a difficult situation but am always faced by exhibitors who seem to think that every dog out there should be cool, calm and collected. And therefore all dogs should be sociable to others just because theirs' are. The reality is, he is a Bull breed and he has an attitude. -
Question For Owners Of Reactive Dogs
Bullbreedlover replied to corvus's topic in General Dog Discussion
Hi Corvus I too have a reactive dog. There are quite a few things that will set him off. I can predict his reactions every time. He is set off by small dogs yapping intensely. He is set off by large excited dogs. Yes the closer the offending trigger he more reaction he gives off. He knows I am on top of him all the time, yet he does not seem fazed. Yes it is a learning curve and one I would not wish on the inexperienced at all. -
Hopefully all will be good Piper Healng thoughts for Jazz. My girls pad is healing very very well. I have no shows for ages so we wont be missing out on anything. We have totally dismantled the colourbond where she hurt herself so she wont be doing that again. Isn't it funny how you never think something like this will happen, until it does.
-
Oh so it is the dew claw pad!!!! is surgery to remove the cut part an option? If it is not going to heal together as in stitching then is it best to remove the part of the pad? only asking here. I have never come across this before. If surgery is not an option and you have to leave the two parts separate then did the vet discuss this with you. If the stitches havent worked now then will they ever work?
-
My young girl sliced open the bottom of her pad the other day, on the colour bond in her kennel run Not too serious. But it is a good cut all the same. No limp whatsoever. She is not even worried about it. I certainly didnt think it was necessary to take her to the vet. It is healing. slowly. I am bathing it every day in savlon and applying betadine. She is on restricted play and is not allowed back in the kennel until we fix it tomorrow. I have every confidence it will heal but I think it will be a slow process. The wound does look really good. I would never go with stitches in this case. Have you got a photo. How bad is it?

I agree Appreciate her for what she does. Even if it is wiggle her bum Bullmastiffs are good guard dogs if aroused but they are silent dogs actually. Not bred to bark. But they of course do and will. They were bred as the game keepers extra eyes.

A vitamin or bulking up supplement will do nothing to help with your BB bringing back his food. He MAY have a soft palate problem in which case it will probably ony get worse rather than better. Depending on the sevrity of the elongation Biscuits are a complete diet if you choose to feed this. A reputable brand is more than adequate. Also give minced chicken, cottage cheese, yoghurt, sardines. In 30 years of owning Bulldogs we have never given our dogs bones, ever. I know of people who have done and have lost them to choking on them. A good nyabone chewbie will assist with keeping teeth clean and I also do NOT recommend pigs ears or rawhide knotted bones. Feeding meals often and with no exercise at least an hour before a meal and certainly no exercise within two hours after a meal to allow the dog to digest his meal. I do suggest soaking his biscuits with hot water and leaving for a little while before feeding. Dont totally submerge them but mix them around in the small amount of water. Dogs make saliva when eating to help with the digestive process. Bulldogs tend to make more than normal. The drier the food the more saliva is made as the dog is eating. Soaking the biscuits for a little while will help with less saliva production. This may also be a cause of him bringing back his food. How old is your dog??? Is he still teething or is he an older puppy?have you talked to the breeder to see what they say?

Sounds like normal 'Blow back" hdr but best to get it checked. This happens alot to gutsy puppies. We have a tube available to suck the excess milk up that does go through to the nose so it doesnt end up going down the wrong way. We suction our babies after each drink from the milk bar. Happens alot in Bulldogs. Another thing to do is express milk out of the teat before hand(only if she has a good supply or get another pup to feed first off the teat and then let the big bubs take what is left. This way the pup is not getting the fast let down of milk in such a rush.

yyyaaahhhhh Great minds think alike. I am still struggling to find a Bullmastiff in that there dog.

Doesnt look like there is a Bullmastiff in that mix to me

I also thought they were going to tell us something new, but it was what we already know and have known for a long time.

Aggressive Behaviour Between My 2 Females Dogs
Bullbreedlover replied to JADED81's topic in General Dog Discussion
All good sound advise here. Except for the fact that the two may come around to each other. I would also recommend that these two bitches were never placed in a situation again where they had to test their dominance over each other. We have bred and owned British Bulldogs(mother/daughter) whom were raised together and got along fine when the daughter was still young. Once she reached maturity it was on for young and old, so they were never placed in a situation where they could ever hurt each other again. I have run two Bullmastiffs together(mother/daughter) and I have never had a problem as I have an alpha bitch and everyone else knows it. You have two cross breed bitches whose background is so very head strong.Once they have fought, they will continue to always test the boundaries. It is not worth the blood shed nor heartache
