Ignore me all you like Steve, but I DONT play games. I ask questions and give my opinion. I may not have the technical jargon at my fingertips like you do. I may have different principles than you do. I may have different beliefs as well. But it doesnt mean I am less of a person than you are. If you cant or wont answer my questions then so be it.

Steves quote Im not saying these things happen all the time or that most of us arent doing the right thing - even though the right thing is open to debate - but all of these regs dont stop those who were prepared to do these things without concerns for the dogs and it increases the risk of false info being entered on the registry. That is a much greater threat to the health and welfare of our breeds. If someone is in breeding dogs which are too close we can see that in our pedigrees and make informed choices about whether we choose them for our breeding programs - once that info is compromised - why bother ? So even though over the last few days we have been accused of not caring about the welfare of our dogs because we leave decisions such as these up to the breeder and havent written them into our codes. We know that good breeders rarely if ever do these things proven by the study on our pedigrees but Im not doing anything which will make breeeders think they need to tell lies if they do - because that jeopodises the registry integrity and the ability for all breeders who trust that info to make informed decisions. end quote No the regs may not stop anyone who is prepared to do these things in regards to a byb, but if the regs are there then at least it is a step towards uniting the responsible breeders and educating those whom need it. Yep and I am one of those ones who are doing the accusing. And no way am I apologising for it. "Jeopodises the registry integrity". You spouted off in another thread Steve about all your contacts and who you have spoken to etc etc. People have asked "who are these people you have consulted?" and you have not replied. All you have done is list who is on the MBDA Board. You have told us all about the "Elite" registry. You tell us that there are only good breeders on the MBDA and that everyone else who isnt on there isnt worth knowing or have no valuable knowledge to contribute to the dog society. And you are so wrong. Just as a thought, How many members does the MBDA have Steve? You wrote... I believe that several of the regulations which the state CCs and the ANKC have introduced over the last couple of years have had the potential to erode that integrity far greater than it ever has before. Honestly how many of us that have been around a while truly believe that miraculously everyone is waiting until they are told the bitch is old enough to mate. How many of us honestly believe that people miraculously stop mating their bitches when they are told they are too old or when a certain number of litters is reached. how many of us believe that people are not having back to back to back to back litters? end Those people who are actually in it for the love of their breeds realise the responsibility they have and respect their breeding stock as loved animals and not just for their breeding worth. Actually Steve with the policies you have just stated, there are many people who are practicing what you are saying. I know it is probably hard for you to believe

We had 5 weeks of not seeing our Bullmastiffs before we flew them over from NZ. Morgan our every faithful older girl and her daughter. They were staying with my mum and dad and Morgan was on a diet as she was a bit tubby before we flew out ahead of them. Too much dropped food from our grand daughter! We got them out of their airline crates at Brissy, Abbey was very very pleased to see us and Morgan said a brief hi and then proceeded to voice her opinion as to the fact that she was starving and needed food. You will be remembered but be prepared to be snubbed a bit. I catch up with my puppy people when we go back home and all the dogs remember me.

I presume we are talking about a ShihTzu puppy. A bracy breed. In my opinion and experience you may find that this is an abnormal defect which can crop up in Bracy breeds. Bulldogs being another affected. Usually this reference can also be made to puppies with an abnoramlly high domed head as well Your vet should have some knowledge of this condition. In an 11 week old puppy I would be starting to get a little worried that it may not close. This is just from my experience. It may be that the fontanelle may close over time.

Brief outline. I need to get some recommendations please to help a couple who have relocated to the Gold Coast. This is for their large dog. Sadly I am two hours away. I am communicating by email and will hopefully speak to the owner tomorrow. If anyone is able to help then please PM me with details or provide a name. Many thanks Debs

There's bullshit and then there's balance. Toxic, petty people who enjoy denigrating others aren't confined the the world of purebred dog exhibition. They're in your workplace, in other hobbies and in any social situation. Show me any form of competition and I'll show you people who can't be involved without nastiness and back biting. Most of the folk I've met in the show scene love dogs, love hanging out with fellow dog lovers and aim to breed and/or exhibit the best examples of their breed they can produce. Lets not lose sight of that. Oh of course there is a balance. In 35 years of showing dogs I have pretty much seen it all Competitiveness will always be there. Nastiness will always be there as well. And of course the genuine people will always be there as well.

The sad fact is though that it happens. Everyone can paint a pretty rosey picture of the "dog show world" but it is not all roses. Alot of what happens is pure crap and should never happen. In my case I was in small competition with the person who spread crap about me and my dogs but never did anything wrong to this person. They are a far bigger fish in the ocean than me. I would rather tell it how it is to people who are buying dogs that bullshit them into a false sense of how people want the world portrayed.

I had two dogs die of heat exhaustion last year apparantly. The same two that were lying out in our backyard (alive and kicking) when I got the email from a good friend to inform me. Angry oh yeah understatement. Actually saw the person who started the rumour 6 months ago(a fellow breeder) but hubby just told me to let it go. I didnt say anything to them. I will never respect them as a person of worth ever again. They werent worth the effort to confront but they did get told by my friend that the story was completely untrue. They never did apologise though.

I am a NS judge too Rysup. At this stage I am not aiming for other groups but may do later. I started my judging career in 96 and very much enjoy it. The judging system here is very much different to NZ as to how you climb the ladder.

And winning in the show ring doesnt always necessarily mean that you are bettering the breed. Do I need to explain more????? or do people get my drift???

Dog Trying To Vomit Up Large Pieces Of Bone
Bullbreedlover replied to bark's topic in Health / Nutrition / Grooming
My dogs do not get bones. I am not against people feeding their dogs bones. In my opinion they can feed them what they like. The only bones our dogs(Boxers) used to get were the huge leg bones from a bovine with the marrow scooped out. Bulldogs we do not feed bones. My Bullmastiffs we do not feed bones. My old boy nearly died from choking on a brisket bone which his breeder fed him before he came to live with us. I know of alot of dogs who have choked to death from being fed bones. :D I just dont go down that path -
Best Dog Toys For Boredom?
Bullbreedlover replied to Beets's topic in Training / Obedience / Dog Sports
Beets..How far are you walking your puppy every day? I thought he has just been diagnosed with bad hip dysplasia? Did his breeder not explain to you the exercise requirements for a Bulldog puppy? Did you contact your breeder about your puppys problems? -
Rare Or Disqualifed Colours In Breeds.
Bullbreedlover replied to poodlefan's topic in General Dog Discussion
Actually I think we are all having an adult discussion on this. Moselle posted that she would like to see the DQ colours allowed in the breed standards. The simple fact is that they are out there, but they are not in the standards for genuine reasons, so why introduce them. There is nothing to stop people from breeding these DQ colours as much as the ethical breeders dont want them to. Unethical breeders are doing so now and have been for years. But they should not be included in the standards. -

It shows Instead of the post. I find it almost more irritating than just skimming over the post because you *know* they've said something stupid under it. And you *know* that you'll waste time clicking again to view the post. And you *know* you'll be more irritated when you find out that you were right and it was just rubbish. And then you have to fight the additional urge to reply because they've just annoyed you even more Anaaaad it doesn't seem to work on the lo-fi version of the board. :D ;) oh thanks for that Now i know -

Yet you appear to have issues with breeders breeding to the standard??? I don't really have issues with breeders breeding to the standard, all I am saying is that if a particular breed of dog can produce colours that are not necessarily part of today's standard, then perhaps we should revise the standard to allow for certain colours but still opting to breed for soundness and all that the standard stipulates although as everyone knows....some purebreds do leave a little or is that alot to be desired as far as 'soundness' is concerned. So you are happy for breeders to.... (who simply because they can breed disqualifying colours and dont care about what they are doing.....) petition the Councils to change the standards? Which side of the fence are you leaning towards? If an issue within a certain breed points towards a colour problem, and that problem presents itself and causes that dog to have health issues then the dog will be unsound in some aspect. Soundness does not only refer to the construction of a dog. It also refers to the pyhsical and mental well-being of a dog. I didnt get a reply to my post Moselle. I am going to sit in a corner now and sulk. Was so looking forward to hearing more about how you want disqualified colours included in the standards. To me you sound like lots of unethical breeders who want to change the standards to suit THEIR breeding, simply because they dont know how to evaluate their breeding in th first place. Sure everyones interpretation of the standards can differ to a point but to be honest I think you got lost somewhere on page 1. -

Who Should Pay For A Dog That Dies On A Flight!
Bullbreedlover replied to Tysonrox's topic in General Dog Discussion
Airlines have a massive care of duty when they fly animals around the world or local. One reason why some airlines now do not fly certain breeds. There are too many poor dogs dying. I personally would be getting some assistance from a lawyer. One that is conversant with this type of problem Without knowing the full facts one can only assume that the cargo hold the dog was placed in was not monitored nor air conditioned. I do know that pilots must be informed of live cargo on board so necessary precautions can be made. Also the live cargo handling area must be taken to task as to their handling proceedures and paperwork etc So sorry for your loss
