  2. Stonebridge Debbie Morrison-Teirney and Mike Teirney South of Toowoomba We are all OK and safe.
  3. Troy also lives in QLD... he may be experiencing his own issues with flooding and may not be available perhaps??? I thought of that If he is not available surely we can start one but make some ground rules. we dont want to be wading through lots of posts.
  4. Hopefully Troy is around I think a thread is required that people only post names and whether they are OK etc etc No general chit chat that we have to wade through If people need to evacuate do so in plenty of time and make sure others have your mobile ph number. Troy where are you???
  5. Troy can we please set up a thread for people who are safe or people who are in danger and need help in the Qld floods. Brisbane is preparing to evacuate low lying areas
  6. How do they have a greater burden? There is no difference between an ethical ANKC breeder and an MDBA breeder. Only that the MDBA breeder member has coughed up more money to be a member of an extra organisation. Sounds like MDBA has higher ethics to me. Not selling to pet shops = Have you actually read what the Code of ethics are?????
  7. I cant see where its going either and it is sad. Im not sure Id use the word plug though. What would you call it then Steve?
  8. I cant really see where this thread is leading to except being another plug for the MDBA sad really
  9. Exactly SwaY I have alot of ideas as to how that can be done, but I am just one person. Things sure has heck wouldnt change over night and it may take years but change is what is needed NOW!

  11. Is there an emotican for ROTFLMAO Cause I could use it about now Ok So I WAS going to stay out of this thread but sorry ...just couldnt resist.
  12. Well unfortunately it was like this... As there was a Camporee on(what the hell is a camporee, is it a jamboree but camping :D ) I guess they got preference as to where they were going to be. The kennel club part of the grounds had been completely under water.(the water at one stage was up to the door of the clubrooms) It was lovely and fine when we got there but the water simply had no where else to go. While it was fine during the day another storm was predicted. And it happened later in the avo. When hubby and I came back into town later on it was fine. Wen we walked out of Clifford gardens the heavens had opened up. So it is going to be even more soggy tomorrow as rain is expected then as well.
  13. Yes congrats to all the winners. Actually I think everyone who entered the Pointscore should be congratulated as well. OK so not everyone who enters a show enters the DOL pointscore system but the vast majority of them do. Without these people enjoying their hobby there would be no shows
  14. If in real doubt tomorrow you can call the show day contacts 0407 372 377/0410 651 756 but we have it on really good authority that it is being held. 10.00am start time for saturday
  15. Camping in the rain doesnt do it for me either ;) which is why I shall travel home Good luck everyone. may you all travel safely to and from.
  16. WOW WOW WOW Its on again next week!
  17. Chance of rain tomorrow is 90% 5 - 10mls. Toowoomba has had a hammering of rain today but it has dispersed prety quickly around town. Some parts of the town were closed for awhile. Last I heard (2pm) the range was open but if we get any more rain it may trigger another landslide. Hubby and I work at the same place but on different shifts and he followed me home from work today as they cancelled the night shift work due to people not being able to turn up from Oakey etc. Any more rain and we might get flooded in again. had to take the long way home today.
  18. I realise that Pf I would also never consider myself an expert. And yes general advice to the public is always the safest.
  19. While I am not defending myself nor my actions, simply because I do not need to, alot of people who have posted on here need to realise a few things. Firstly for those of you who think I have acted totally irresponsible, lets take a step back and understand that in no way would I ever place any child in any situation where I think harm would come to them...ever. I am 100% totally in favour of the general public being properly educated in the training of dogs with children. Secondly I know my dogs, inside and out. I know which ones are totally totally bomb proof and which arent. yeah right! you may think, every dog has its day. If you dont believe me that is fine. I am not worried if you dont. I have been involved with rearing, training, showing dogs and general dog care since I was very very young. I am also not an idiot. While you may all be generalising now in regards to people and how they bring up their dogs, many of you for starters were not and you posts stopped very very short of insinuating(or actually did insinuate) that I was a complete idiot and totally irresponsible. If you still believe that, then that is up to you. As I said before, I am not defending my actions to you because you neither know me nor the circumstances of what I have posted. But thanks all the same for your wonderful comments. Especially those from the instant experts. eta Just in case you were also wondering I am fully aware of resource guarding and pack order. But thank you also for your comments. Oh and by the way I just fed my dogs and put my hands in their feed bowls. My boy even lifted his head up while constantly wagging his tail and gave me a food kiss. My young girl who is the lowest in our household behaved beautifully. Oh yes these same dogs (and one which I recently rehomed) can all sit and wait patiently to be spoon fed yoghurt or to be individually given treat biscuits. The same dogs of which I can take a chewbie or toy from. No I am not patting myself on the back. Never have, but once again I am not an idiot.
  20. You've lost me, perhaps you didn't understand what I wrote? Regardless of your interpretation of my post, that is a personal attack and not warranted nor appropriate. Yes, dogs should be taught to respect children. That is learned behaviour. If I must insinuate anything about your knowledge of dogs, it's that your premise is faulty. The most submissive (lowest in the pecking order) will resource guard from the highest, even tiny pups will do it. So if a child is higher in the pecking order, it won't prevent a tragedy. However, I would prefer that we didn't make it personal. I'm not interested in a pissing match and not everything is a contest to see who is higher in the pecking order I just don't agree with your premise, and I base this on scientific and anecdotal observations across species. If you are not bringing up your dogs to learn to respect your children I dont do personal attacks. It gets me into trouble. Your post in itself was not warranted.
  21. Similarly, if people believe that it is a good idea to let their child handle their dog while eating because this will elevate their spot in the pecking order, they too could be in for a tragic shock if this is the extent of their knowledge of dog behaviour. Aidan was replying to my post what part of the above statement do you not understand ? Was he not insinuating that..... people who believe it is a good idea.... do not have a good idea of knowledge of dog behaviour? Of course it is possible that a lower ranked dog can bite a child Cosmolo. Any dog can bite. I can explain a terrifying situation which involved my sister and her family in regards to a resource aggressive dog and the circumstances involved, brought about in the most part by them not bringing the dog up properly. Whether a genetic predisposition was also involved I do not know. They blame themselves entirely. It was just very very fortunate that no one was hurt.
