  1. I think Warley suggested for me to do that a while ago. I actually have a folder with the NSW one and other BSL stuff in it with highlighted bits for easy reference. Its a good idea.
  2. I have only recently (since March) started this with max. We went to see Steve as well and got a prong from him to use with max. I too was like you and wanted him to walk beside me and everytime he passed me I would turn around. I have since been letting him pass me and have found that he doesnt pull when he gets to the end of the lead. But I will say that I cant walk him with any of the others yet as it just becomes a pulling contest. Hubby goes one way and I go another and we meet along the main road and walk back together which seems fine. Just cant start off together. majorly:  my hubby done this with Jeep one night. The thing is Jeep hates cats and seen one as he was pulling hubby down the road. So Jeep does a 9O degree turn up onto the grass and hubby went flying as he hit the gutter. Funniest thing Ive ever seen.
  3. What about Satinballs. I have heard that they are great for putting on weight fast until they can get a proper diet sorted out. But not sure how this would react with his diabetes??? Maybe someone else might know.
  4. Hi Jimmy I too have a dog that pulls like mad on lead. I have been to visit Steve from K9 force (also a member of DOL) and with the use of a special collar and training advice I can now walk Max without him pulling (I can actually hold the lead with 1 finger). Although we are still only in the early stages it is so much more pleasurable to walk him. I dont know where you are situated, but maybe you need to see someone about it as soon as possible to nip it in the bud now. Good luck
  5. If you are that worried I would suggest you take her to the vet immediately.
  6. he he its pretty gross huh...Max does this on the odd occasion. He is the only one to do it too. Dont have any suggestions other than what Rexy said. Pick the bowls up after they have finished.
  7. Ok but does it work quicker orally or intra muscular???
  8. Just curious where do you buy this injectible vit c? Is it only from your vet? How do you store it??? How long can it be stored for??? Is it injected under the skin or in the muscle or via the mouth???? Just thought this might be a good idea to keep some handy that way i could use it till i could get to my vet. Mel

I agree with the replies you have got. I have 4 restricted breed dogs that, by law, require an enclosure, adequate fencing etc. A really simple solution would be to put down my dogs, did I do that...no way. I went to great lengths to be able to scrape a few thousand $$$ so that I could comply with the law. I wasnt going the easy way out, never even crossed my mind. Heres a pic of my enclosure which didnt really cost me much at all (the avery was already there): gravel 1/2tonne = $16.50 4 bags cement = $25 steel mesh (2 sheets) = $80 chicken wire = free (courtesy of mum and dad) timber posts = free (courtesy of mum and dad) - if you live on property and could cut a few small trees down and hack of the bark horseshoe nails = $18 lock for door = $10 This is only the front of the enclosure and it runs about 10m in length, and is about 7ft high. It would'nt cost thousands to build something like this. Make the effort and build/errect something for them to be contained in while your not there. Mel
  12. Yes me too. Please give us an update Mel

  16. Exactly, i always check any pouches of dead animals incase of this as my mum rears injured wildlife and told me to always check. At the moment she has a baby wombat (actually he is 300gms) and four baby roos in a compound who were from the mothers been run over. But there is no way id pick up any dead animal on the side of the road that stinks to high heaven and put it in my car to take home for the dogs.
  17. I didnt know you brax but i have heard and seen all the beautiful stories and pics and just wish i could of met such a proud and beautiful pitbull, what i would give to of met you in person and to give you a big hug. R.I P. BRAX

  21. Hi persephone, When Jeep was little we took him down to my parents property and he was covered in ticks (not paralysis) we just pulled most of them off with tweezers, but keep checking even a few days later, cause we were still pulling them off him. They were a lot bigger by then and easier to find and he didnt get sick from them. Everytime we go to visit my parents i dose my dogs up on frontline plus a day or two before we go down. But please keep checking for them.
