  1. If I were those boys I would have packed it I also think I should have defined the term "protection" in my first post. I really love reading all the stories
  2. why a male?? People ALWAYS suggest a male first
  3. Jed - I am getting my next boxer from you ;) Ok here is another Molly story from today - about an hour ago. I heard this strange bark from Molly out in the back yard. Molly has the choice of where to sleep and quite often she is out in the back garden still when we do to bed and lock up and in the morning she is passed out on the couch (I sware she invites her mate over for a few bevies when we go to bed) Anyway I didn't really think anything of it and it had gone on for about 2/3mins (which was long enough for me to think hang on what is going on here?) As I had just got to the back door there were a few thumps at the front door. So my hubby went and answered it and was greeted by 4 coppers flashing lights in the street and all!!! Long story short there was a young fella in our back yard jumping on the kids trampoline so Molly didn't get him and Molly was doing laps around the tramp barking like a perfect Molly Wally Poo Dog! This young bloke was begging my hubby to put the dog inside so it wouln't get him HAHA! We don't live in a dodgy suburb but after the past few months, maybe we do? HAHA! I LOVE my Poo dog
  4. Well it seems that my posts often start debates ;) SORRY! Just healthy discussion - love it! Thanks for your responses I love reading them.... Anyway I love my Poo Dog - I feel like a goose saying it but it is true :D She melts my heart.
  5. I would never rely on Molly to protect me 1. because she isn't trained like that and wouldn't know how to. 2. knowing my luck I would foget the magic words needed and pack myself I know there is so much more to training a dog to protect but I will leave it up to the experts. Just a question though (I hope you come back and read this) in your opinion would it be a good idea for a family with kids to have a trained protection dog? Or would it be best to do what we have done and hope that if it came to it she would speak up? I don't think Molly would ever bite a person....she would no doubt run and hide behind me if some1 lunged at us but she sure did she me she could bark when needed geo - Thanks She melts my heart
  6. I have seen a few posts from people wanting a dog for protection. We have Molly our Boxer with the hope that she would know what to do if we were in trouble. As we have children all we wanted was a dog with a warning bark and our Molly warns us when our guests go home HAHA! I have seen a few people post that a dog will know when to step up and protect - I never believed it I always thought it needed to be trained to be vocal and protective. I would like to share a story with you all. Molly would never hurt a fly. We wanted a dog that would protect us with a bark a dog that we could pass off as maybe being protective because of how it looks. I finally dog my childhood dream when we took Molly home however as said earlier, she barks when people leave HAHA! She smothers people with kissed and if a cat is sitting on the fence she will sit and make a funny sound that could not ever pass as a bark its more of a cats howl. Well a few weeks ago I was doing some house work which is pretty rare for me - lots of washing and hanging on the line (I am usually a "thow it in the dryer girl) and cleaning at the other end of the house and there was a knock at the door. It was dusk by this stage so it was just me and my girls at home waiting for hubby. It was an overseas student selling art work. I opened the door (because at that time I thought it was some1 else) and he walked into my foyer without being asked and started making me feel not so safe. I told him to get out and he insisted on showing me these paintings.....I felt horrible in my own house and raised my voice just a little and said PLEASE LEAVE! GUESS WHAT HAPPENED???? MOLLY came charging through the house stood in front of me she had hairs standing up on the spine of her back something which I assumed only cats could do and he started barking like you wouldn't believe!!!!! I had never heard her bark like this b4. It echoed through the house and because the foyer is tiled it was so loud. Well this fella didn't pack is paintings up he just grabbed his stuff and ran!! I was so proud of MYMOLLY! Now all the doors around the house were locked except the one where I was taking the clothes out to hang on the line. It was closed but at that staged not locked. As I never use the washing line Molly has never seen that door before as you have to open another gate to get into that little area. SO she must have heard that I was threatened and jumped the little fence with the gate (it only comes up to belly height) and then used her nose/paw to open the sliding door that we didn't know she knew existed. Since then she has not done it again. I would love to hear other stories where your best friend/baby has stepped up I love my Poo Dog
  7. when I put my Molly onto advance she really thrived! Its worth every dollar. I was just thinking though because she doesn't have teeth or too many of them if it would be an good idea to make her dry food moist by adding milk/water to it?? I really wish you all the best with your new friend and I am sure she will bulk up in no time
  8. For allowing us to hear your heart songs

Let us know how things go
  13. ahhhhhhhhhhhhhh can't win hey?? I buy free range mt barker chicken....I hope thats ok but that is not for my doggy friends to eat thats for my children. I don't want to change the topic (too much) but I was talking to my hubby last night about the stuff they pump info food these days and it came up that young girls are starting to mature a lot sooner than expected.....do you think that that is true and do you think that it would have the same effect on our doggy pals?
  14. yeah thats where I go too to get my chicken mince Do you think all the hormones they pump into the chicken is harmful? 20kg for $20 or $1.50 a kg for less how awesome is that? This is a great post I am learning heaps!
  15. I am south of the river between the 2 bridges Near Melville and I have my inlaws in Spearwood. I am so in love with my new little Molly she is such a blessing very loyal. yeah it would be good to find an awesome butcher do you know of any??

  17. I have been giving her chicken necks also but not just a sole diet of that. I really thought the prota pack was good for dogs.
  18. not one that I can read....it that been torn are the things that I should avoid?
  19. OH NO!! are you serious?? I was told it was good for her
  20. Sorry I should have said before what I was feeding her. I am wanting to put her on chicken mince but at the moment she eats dry puppy food with prota dog polony stuff.....I was told that that was good for her....maybe its not so good
  21. ok so I was doing the dishes today and I looked out the window and and caught an eye full of Molly doing her business and it was not as firm as I would have thought it should be. Does any1 have any ideas how i can make then a bit more solid looking? From the window it kinda looked like a slushie or is that how it is meant to be?? Thanks for your time and help
  22. I love it! There is nothing like coming to a forum for advise and having to put up with the dribble that comes out of some of the mouths here... :D I missed seeing the photo of your new little one but enjoy every moment. Any dog can act like a restricted breed at any stage.....
  23. Hi Kelpie_Pup ;) The post where I used the shops as an example wasn't written to sound condescending. Sorry if it came across that way I was going to use Day Care as my example but thought more people go to the shops and are not screened for immunisations and really it is a free for all. I never implied that the OP shouldn't have concerns about their new pup and the booked lodgings. I just don't think that people should worry all the time about the what ifs if they may never happen. I am not saying be a careless pet owner.....I am just saying lighten up. Don't talk about committments and imply bad pet ownership when the full story is not known. Things come up and plans can change. ahhhhhhhhhhhhhhh the things and worries we go through when we add a new member to the family hey?
  24. It means this: that if everyone was too scared to go on holidays and take their pets/family members places because of the what ifs then people would be out of business......?? Surely you mean if everyone was too scared to take their pets then the boarding kennels would be booming, not going out of business. no I mean that no one would be going on holidays and as a result they would be home to look after thier pets......so boarding kennels would go out of business.... Like children for example, If I take my girls down to the shopping center I do so knowing that even though they are fully vacinated there is still a chance that whilst they are out some wally has taken thier chickenpox diseased child there also and they can still catch something. Your kids are fully vaccinated you say, why would they catch something they are vaccinated for? There are many reported cases of parents paying for the chicken pox jab only to not have it work. Sure it was a mild case of what it could have been if they had not chosen to immunise but it was the disease none the less....I paid for my children to have it given to them and they have not had it but there is still a chance that even though I have done what I believe to be the best thing for them they still may get it. I am not going to prevent them from experiencing life because of the what ifs because the what ifs may not happen. But getting back to what this post is really about. This pup is not fully jabbed up so really taking it to a place where their could be Parvo Virus would not be a wise thing to do. So am I going to keep them at home in a bubble just because they might get ill? No I'm not. I am going to do my part and keep thim up to date with their jib jabs and make sure I dont blindly talke them to places where I know they will be at high risk if they are not up to date with their immunisations...... I don't put myself first every step of the way.....infact the only think I HAVE done for myself in the last 15 years was buy Molly my beautiful boxer. Yes, and taken home at 6.5 weeks old, great breeder NOT! And I make no apologies for believing someone who doesn't follow the rules and regs and COE of the CC are not good breeders. Break one rule and who knows what others are broken. If you are making reference to how and when we bought Molly home and want reasons as to why, ask me why and I will be more than willing to share. You don't know how it all came about but please ask before you cast judgement. I really think you have missed what I was saying and meaning in my response because I agree with you to an extent but hey its awesome that you are so concerned and your one liners really have the crowd cheering. And you are hysterical by your standards aren't you, I don't understand your problem.. I don't have a problem. So I don't know why you are being like this. You seem like quite a bitter person in this thread which is sad really because given your experience I would have thought you would have been very supportive. Anyway, I still don't think you have understood what I am saying..... Maybe others like to let me know if understand what I am meaning. Maybe I am not being to clear with my responses either that or you like to start a good discussion
