  1. Can relate RS Coco is hard work between exercises better now that she's 5. I do lots of hand touches, push ups and high fives. Have used these as release rewards for awhile in training now so she gets relaxed rewarded ad well between exercises which helps. I also use a check chain as my collar, brings a conditioned response of working time. Doesn't tangle in coat and is short enough to not fall over her head when she puts her nose down. Besides if I wear bling so can she ))
  2. Definitely. Yes marks the correct behaviour, Okay and Alright are release work is done words.
  3. I'm with spoiltlab on this one. Stay means stay - move and you pay the consequences. Dont care what the provocation is. I use wait when there is something coming that I'm going to ask you to do like recall, CoP and very handy in training dumbbell with a retrieve mad dog.
  4. Glad to hear you made it home okay. Isnt it great when absence makes the heart grow fonder.
  5. Post op visit to the specialist this afternoon and the sling is off!!! Still have pretty limited range of movement so left signals are pretty manky but she recognized them. So first proper training session since beginning of September and my little pocket rocket worked the house down, Despite it being pretty warm out there. So very happy tonight
  6. I use a wahl grooming bag, lots of pockets and places to store stuff. Divide the largest part with two soft 6pack eskies. One for UD gear one for toys/rewards. Probably carry too much stuff but I like to feel like I have spares and choices.
  7. Super well done spoiltlab!!! See sometimes a break from training can be beneficial. Nice to see you again Ptolomy. The boy did good! I just love his ring attitude especially for UDX. We have some interesting judges here in the east don't we?
  8. RS I use "find" for SB, "bring" for SD and "fetch" for DB and gloves. Fetch means go where I send you and bring back what you find there! Hoping it helps in UDX. Sounds like you are going gangbusters Well done!!!
  9. I have also watched this thread with interest. Mostly I show my dogs to their title while I'm waiting for them to be old enough to do other forms of dog sports. I used to continue showing past their title but not anymore. The cost of a show entry is almost double a trial entry and in these economic times you have to be aware of the budget. As for the "face" judging it happens I'm sure but you soon learn which judges to not enter under and a lot of the time its not the face but the skill in the handling that allows them to win at least that's what I think it could be. You get better handlers in every type of dog sports and even in obedience the better handlers have an advantage in that they can often get there dog to perform where less skillful handlers cannot so why not showing??
  10. Okay severe boredom/frustration is the mother of invention... Left arm in a sling and therefore not moveable, dog going more than a little stir crazy from lack (read almost 5 weeks thanks to her being in kennels whilst I was away on holidays as well) of work what to do???? Remember that heeling needs some work thanks to concentrating on UD exercises, we can do that without the left arm, add a frisbee as reward and in one session of ten minutes those right about turns that have gotten embarassingly sloppy became magic. Add some scent work and presto one dog now stretched flat out on the tiles relaxed.
  11. Should be at the pine rivers trial on 29th. Arm will still be in a sling but OH will drive me. The arm is a work related rotator cuff issue. Been on the go for over 12 months. Had shoulder surgery Tuesday last week and I'll be in a sling for at least a month with reduced arm movement for up to 6 months. Sucks big time
  12. Away from home grounds? Since when is NS the first trial of the year? I thought it was SR? I've never trialled at NS before so maybe I am just confused OK, it's a deal, especially since you are ever so nice and are going to help me and blondie be ready, right? ;) Doitdoitdoit!!!!! UD is fun and character building and the best trained dog goes out there and says "you want me to do what?" The more to commiserate with the better. Looking at first trial back for us in February as well!!!
  13. Second the peacocks, they just wont learn I've got bird dogs and they are birds!!!!
  14. go the red dogs!!!!! well done in what sounds like very yucky conditions
  15. Congratulations everybody. Some great results. I think I'm having withdrawal from training/trialling, only another two or three weeks before the arm is out of the sling and we cant wait...
  16. Another vote for Gary on the northside, worked miracles for one of my girls,
  17. Very nice work for a baby boy Ptolomy, congrats!
  18. Blackmores Travel calm ginger tablets. One tablet 30minutes before travel then every two hours whilst driving. Swear by these they have made a world of difference to my girl who suffers from car sickness - she's almost 5 now and we only discovered these about 6 months ago and our life is so much easier.
  19. +1 RS We had the most fantastic training session ourselves tonight. The pocket rocket was amazing so happy, of course she can always bring me back to earth when she wants to..
  20. Chocolates to boiled lollies this week. Thought my coco monster was something of a mud lark but the rain tonight was too heavy even for her. Sent her in the SB and she did a runner from the ring over the side rope under the shed that was only about 5 yards from the side of the ring And then to add insult to injury she sat and looked at me when I called her back Needless to say we withdrew at that point and I think some training in the wet again is the order of the day. Admittedly it was the heaviest rain I've seen in a looong time and people were withdrawing all over the place as conditions were ridiculous but still...... At least we gave everyone a good laugh
  21. Congratulations Ava and Wuffles. Well done with such a lovely score
  22. Thanks for the congrats guys, And yes Nic for a girl who gets very car sick she does seem to be able to get it togethor when we travel. My friend pointed out to me the other day that she has managed to get quallies in Melbourne, Sydney, Canberra and now Rocky. Two more trials in the next two weeks - Redcliffe and Toowoomba. Fingers crossed she manages one more for me before we go. When are you leaving must be very soon?
  23. First up well done RV with Toby, I'm sure next time out he'll be a happier boy. Tassie fantastic on your TD, hoping to dabble there myself next year it looks like such fun.
  24. Well made the trek to Rockhampton (8 hours with the van) which I will call dedication to the cause bit some may call crazy!!! It was worth it though cause the pocket rocket got her second leg and that UD title is so close we can taste it! Pretty happy with my girl tonight
