  1. Got a little brag for the pocket rocket today. Coco and I travelled up to Harlin for the trainee tracking judges final exams and got asked to do a TD7 for him. Now we only passed our track 4 about 6 weeks ago and only stayed in training for this thinking we'd be doing a 4 or maybe a 5. Cut a long story short she blitzed it - like she was on railroad tracks, found all three articles, handled the acute turns no worries. Had the judges explain how to do the start for a 7 on the way to the start and it was like and??. LOL. Got graded excellent! Such a good dog, roll on next season we cant wait
  2. I used Blackmores Travel Calm ginger tablets with my 5 year old GSP. At least it stopped the constant standing and dry heaves. However we recently changed cars to a Ford Territory where she travels in the back not the back seat of the previous car and it has all gone- no need for any medications at all. We think it's because the sides are higher and she feels more contained. A bit like a covered crate which was never possible in the other car. Whatever the reason we are all very happy with the current situation.
  3. Congratulations Scoota and Ptolomy what a way to finish
  4. Big congratulations!! Definitely worth shouting from the rooftops
  5. Big brag today - the Cocomonster handled the 5 and a half hour drive down to Grafton and the 0 degrees temperature to pass her track 4 yesterday. Last trial for us this year as I don't feel ready to go up to the next level yet :). So very proud of my little girl
  6. Well guys spoke to a couple of people in the working party this morning and they said they are waiting on a new batch of the DVD to be produced.. They were expecting a new lot in the next few days so maybe try another email soon.
  7. Will be seeing some of the working party today, will tell them to check their emails.
  8. Im sure more experienced heads will appear but for what another newbie to the games opinion is worth Coco is a very strong GSP who pulled like the proverbial steam train in the beginning.. You dont want to know how many times I have fallen over. The steps that were suggested to me are 1. Tie knots at 2.5meter intervals in your rope this gives you something to hang on to. 2. Wear gloves yourself helps with grip again and stops the old rope burn across the hand. 3. She has slowed down considerably now we are 6 months into our training, but if she doesnt get enough energy released during the week leading into a trial then forget control at the start flag. 4. The age of the track has helped a lot as she needs to concentrate more 5. Persistance - keep at it, dont overdo the training so that they get bored. I do three tracks a week but I have a glutton for work (thank goodness). 6. And lastly on the weekend someone suggested I lean back slightly instead of taking the strain on outstretched arms - shifts the centre of gravity back making me much more stable on my feet. Hope this helps..
  9. Well so far so good Coco has both her UD and TD, the training in tracking continues for another couple of months so not sure about an OC leg, Pip got her RN and has retired back to the couch as her social butterfly tendencies have not decreased with age :) so no RA for her. So I'm going to say a good year so far !
  10. Well done RS and Milie lovely when the kids fire isn't it.
  11. It is the most amazing feeling  Still cant believe we've done it. On to the four now in two weeks time. No guarantees but she's working so well it's worth a shot. And here I was worried she wouldnt track an unknown.
  12. Coco got her third tracking pass this morning :) with an excellent grading :) that gives her her TD. Can't stop smiling for some reason
  13. Ptolomy love the name!!! And fingers crossed for you too!!!
  14. Congratulations on all the titles happening this weekend! You have all got me suffering withdrawal so have sent off an entry to the double header on June 30. Will be interesting to see whether we can switch mind sets to working inside ropes again
  15. Congrats Tassie. No such luck for us this weekend I'm afraid - still learnt heaps though including the fact that sometimes the gun dog must just do what they're bred to do and not what their handler wants them to do
  16. Unfortunately Coco and I didnt pass our T3 yesterday, the cows at the start and the quail, hares and potaroos all in the first 70metres was just too much for her gun dog mind  Still was a great learning weekend for us and I'm sure we'll be better for it in the long run
  17. Congratulations both on the T4 and the TD.. What a great season you guys are having
  18. Congratulations ladies! Quite a haul you got there. Trialling on a Monday? How good is that?
  19. Excellent Em and TSD all that training is paying off! RS you'll have to change your goals for the season :) well done!
  20. Congrats to all the West Aussies! Sounds like a wonderful day
  21. Congrats Tassie and the talented Miss Kirra!!!
  22. Congrats RS and excellent work Millie!!!
  23. Have had the best training weekend! Both this morning and yesterday morning out with the sparrows and Coco is working like an old hand. Aging our tracks up to an hour now and have introduced acute turns and she's just acting like it's all old hat. :) Now if she can make the transition from known to unknown tracklayer (which is a little hard to train for when you are the one laying your own tracks) we will be having a really good season Not really asking for much am I? Just so happy with the pocket rocket today.
  24. Congrats Tassie 2 advanced passes WOW!
