Hi I am really sorry you have had such a bad experience, please dont be put off helping these amazing dogs, beleive me you will get alot more out of these beautiful dogs than you will ever know. I have been a foster career for greyhounds for both GAP and Friends of the Hound I also have 2 resuce greyhounds from Friends a 9 and half year old girl and a 3 and half year old boy. Neither could be more different to each other. My old girl is happy to be the princess with just the odd zoomies or a walk and then retire to the lounge/bed. My boy is mad as a cut snake and such a happy go lucky social butterfly that I do agility with him and obeidence. Like all dogs they have there personality and temperment and even when you opt to foster the organisation will only place dogs which fit YOUR familys animals and surroundings. They will not put an active dog into a house where you dont like to walk and walk and vise verser. So if you require a dog with a bit of spunk they will do there best to find that personality for you. So when the time is ready and you really what to either foster or adopte please tell them everything you need in the dog so that the right dog finds it's forever home. Rememeber to ask lots and lots of questions and if they are not happy to answer then that organisation is not right for you. Both my dogs have been crate trained and are happy to be in them. We have just spent 6 days in Tamworth competing in agiltiy and both my dogs had to spend time in there crates while I walked courses and helped out and we got our old girl at 4 so you can train them to accept anything providing you put in the time and make it rewarding for them like all other dogs. Wishing you all the best.

Thankyou for part of the video of Biscuit he is a crack up lolololol -
Pet Homes also sell at Durack and on ebay with pickup at Moorooka. I have bought both there soft and metal crates and have not had any problems with them. Good luck.

Friend boughts a set for her staffy x and the frist time it went up her nails ripped the fabric and were a bit of a worry with the weight!
-
I agree with the baby cot mattress I have 4 of them for my greyhounds just put a sheet over the top and change it once a week and the covers also come off to get a good wash once a month. And if you get them from op shops even better.

How Well Do You Take Feedback?
Yacket's Mum replied to SkySoaringMagpie's topic in General Dog Discussion
I must admit I got really upset when a lady I didnt even know come up to me and said my dog was ugly..........get this..........because he was skinny!!!!!!! He is a greyhound! -
They have been cancelled for the moment. I am sure that something will be arranged for next year!

I had one of my greyhounds front dew claws removed she ripped one nearly off so rather than stitich it back up I opted to have both removed she was not happy at the time she was 6 but when they healed she now is happy as there is no chance hurting them again. It is major surgery when they are older so if I had an option I would like them done when they are babies.

Rehoming High Drive Stafford
Yacket's Mum replied to Mavriksbt's topic in Training / Obedience / Dog Sports
I have had to honour to met and play with Q and as I own a very accident prone greyhound who is not allowed to play very much with other dogs I can say that other than being a boofhead he was great with my greyhound. Cindy has put in an amazing amount of work into him and he will be great in a home with NO cats ect and someone who will continue his training. He has been to plenty of agility and obeidence trials as a spectator and there has never been an incident and he trains in a club where there are small dogs with no problems. My heart is breaking for you Cindy in this very hard decission you have made we are here for you with what ever you may need. Hoping for a wonderful outcome to this special boy. -

Thankyou for all your replies they have been most helpful. I cant wait to join the show circuit Just need to think of a name for her I kinda like Frog! lolololol I know odd name. We had a horse called Turtle a dog called Chook another horse called Clyde a rabbit called chewbacca a rat called Squirrel and present greyhound Biscuit so I think Frog would fit in nicely loololol But what sort of show name should she have. She will have the breeders prefix then what! I was thinking .........Lily pad so frog dosent seem out of place. But if anyone else has better ideas I am open lololol

They have been lovely on the phone and I am hoping in the next few months to go and met them and there wonderful dogs. I have a few people I know who know them and they recommend them as breeders and there quality of dogs they breed. Our chiropractor is the same man. lololol Yes I have been told there are very few greyhounds shown in qld so we just might have to help change that lolololo Greyhounds are amazing I already have 2 rescue ones. Our old girl Checke and my mad crazy man Biscuit CCD JD SD who I do agility and obeidence with.

Heheheheh ok so not like horse showing lolol but all good that is what I was after. I have shown arabs for years but never a dog lolol this will be my first one! As much as I would love to get a show grey of you or your breeder it is very hard for me being out of state so I have been in contact with the McGreerys and put my name down on a bitch when the have a litter next year. I am sure they will give me heaps of advice but it is never to early to start learning. I will need to look into collars and where to get a set from ect I feed my greys I have already proplan dry food and turkey necks and sundays they get sardiens and yoghurt and biccy gets yoghurt and sashas blend equilevent so they are in really good nick...I dont have problems feeding them what ever they need. I will have to find a show person local to help me learn how to stack so thankyou for that and I am hoping to go to a few before she arrives so I have some idea on what I need to do lololo Santa is bringing me a huge 54" metal crate so I can train her and have her safe when I am not home and then we have soft crates for shows and trials. I think I will have to buy some more weatherbeeta rugs for her as she will be bigger than my girl I have now but all good. Just wanted to know if there were sprays ect that you put on them! I have a hydrobath and a doggie blow dryer now for her so I think we are some what set!
-
Will do thankyou. I have spoken to her before but wanted other opinions as well.
-
Hi I am getting a show greyhound puppy next year just need a bit of help in what I will need for her and how do I go about showing her and what collars ect do I need. Do you put sqaures on there butts like horses? do you boot polish there legs to make defined lines ect all help would be greatful.
-
Sorry if this has been done but can you please tell me what you all have in your doggie first aid kit you take with you everywhere!
-
I have never trained there but we do agility trials there sometimes and they are always friendly and helpful so that is a good start.

Anyone Else's Dogs Do This?
Yacket's Mum replied to Vickie's topic in Training / Obedience / Dog Sports
My two greyhounds do the same thing. Biscuit wont eat his bone unless he is next to Checke and then they swap! It is very strange but they seem happy so I leave them to it. By the way I love the cat heheheh -
