Hi all, I hope I am not breaching any rules by posting this. I understand the frustration of finding a decent pet-friendly property in the rental market and would like to share with folks out there on my current place which will be available from end September. I am a current tenant of this place and my hubby and I are relocating out of NSW by end September. When we first applied for this townhouse, it was not advertised as a pet-friendly property. We had to ring many places, and fortunately, for this property, the Landlord is willing to consider pets on application. This is a 2-bedroom townhouse located in the suburb of Wahroonga and has a small front and backyard (with grass). We are living with two happy shelties and I have seen quite a few dogs around. If you are keen, please PM me for more details. Please note that at this point we do not have a confirmed date of moving out but we will definitely be out by 1st October. I apologise once again if this subject is not appropriate in this forum. Just thought I should share before the agent post this up in the market Cheers, Cheryl

This thread is cool! Enjoying the family portraits posted by all These are my duo: Rufus on the left and Sally on the right. Sally is a new addition to our home. She is in the same litter as Rufus In this shot, she stuck herself to Rufus for "security" (The wind was really strong that day!):

OH just bought a new toy. He said these two shots fit the theme. Comments appreciated!

If price is a concern, you can try the Sanyo petcare vacuum cleaner. I bought it on sales at Target for about $130, RRP $199. I have a sheltie so this is Godsend for me at the moment. Would love to own a dyson in the future though!

Yes, you've got the name right. Feral Rufus Thanks for all the wonderful pictures! -
Terranik, thank you so much for that video! I just spent the last 30mins teaching my pup that trick. Initially he thought it had something to do with the clothes peg so when I took it off, he went looking for the peg! Finally he got the association of putting his paws to his nose. But I think mine ended up more like nose rubbing rather than acting shy! And I go so tired of saying the word "shy" so many times I ended up just doing the action without any verbal command hehehe.

I'll be joining with Rufus too! I met Jenn, one of the trainer there I think. She's really nice and friendly and I'm looking forward to meeting other dogs/pups around the area!

I'm uncomfortable with using chemicals on Rufus too. So far he has not had any flea problems and I'm using an essential oil blended spray from Cherished Creatures - smells great too, some essential oil blended anti-flea shampoo bought from QVB, and I a small amount of ACV to his waterbowl too. I tried rubbing Neem oil on Rufus but I can't stand the smell and I almost threw up my lunch. Funny though, cause my Hubby loves the smell Having said that, I've only brought him out very recently since he's just finished his final vaccination 2 weeks ago. I bring him daily (when weather permits) to the Park and spend about 2-3hours there. We've walked through bushes etc and he's still flea-free (Thank God). Hope you find an effective natural flea preventive for your baby too

Hi Drumbeat, I am feeding my pup on Artemis small breed puppy too. His poo is ok but smells pretty bad. Do you have the same problem?

Hey guys, I got Troy to help bump up this thread. I have a question... Does anybody's puppy/dog run away when you try to teach this trick? Initially, Rufus just sat and let the toy (plush toy not some hard balls or heavy stuff) hit his face with the puzzled look. And after a few tries, he actually started running away when I tried asking him to catch it

Hi Fluffypaws! I don't really have an answer to your post but my 12 weeks old sheltie puppy likes to snuggle beside the washing machine on concrete floor as well. What I am guessing is its cooler on concrete floor and since its in the midst of hot summer at the moment, perhaps they just like it where its more cooling? Nice pic of Luka there btw! And do join us in the Shelties and Collies thread under General Dog Discussion/Breed Sub-forum! ETA: if you haven't already joined, just in case I missed out your posts there since I'm fairly new as well :D

Will pray for you and your lil sambucca tonight...*hugs*

Thanks all! I've stopped adding chicken breast into his meals and I'm feeding just kibbles. He's doing fine now. Eating well and he knows how to play with his toys too! About weeing too much, I've observed quite a bit and I think at times he do it for attention - me and hubby always run to him when we hear his footsteps on newspaper because we don't want him to step/drip pee all around the house. He's really clever (more like being naughty) and sometimes he will just run to the newspaper, without weeing, and wait for us to come rushing to him
-
Opps He's on Innova puppy at the moment. I've decided to stop giving him the chicken breast so he don't have a choice but to stick to the kibbles. And you're right. I got to be more firm on him rather than spoiling him now. Me = baddy owner

Thanks guys!!! He's actually having 3 meals a day. He never ever finishes his meals no matter how much me and hubby reduced it. We mix kibbles + boiled chicken breast, which of course, he is in favour of the chicken and rarely touch the kibbles. I'm kinda worried he'll have lack of nutrients since chicken breast meat probably doesn't give enough nutrition. He didn't take raw chicken wing well so I thought to stop it for a while. Plus he's got abit of kennel cough (maybe that is why he has poor appetite).

Hey all, you were right! He's now a naughty little boy tossing and dragging his toys all around the house. I'm really glad. I have another question (sorry for asking so many questions). He doesn't seem to be very motivated by food. Vjb, I tried to stuff peanut butter in the kong, and initially, he seemed interested and gave it a lick, but it didn't last more than 3 secs. After that, I tried smashing banana and put it in the kong. He gave it a quick sniff and gave me the disgusted look. I bought for him pigs ear and he showed the same disgusted look too. I bought innova biscuit treat and he rejected that too. Does any of you have furbabies that aren't motivated by food at all? Perhaps I am passing a judgement too soon again but my past dogs (starting from when I got them as young puppies) were all foodlovers and never had this issue.

Hi Perse/lily...thanks for replying me. I've called the vet and she's told me to keep him under observation. Now he's stopped the regular peeing - he just woke up from his afternoon nap. As for playing, I think what Perse said made sense and I've read through that post. I guess I'm just being an over paranoid owner

Hi all, I have a 8 weeks old sheltie and he has been weeing pretty frequently - every 30 minutes whenever he is not sleeping. Is that normal? Also, I have a question on playing. He doesn't seem to be very interested to play if not he loses interest very quickly (not even 5 minutes). Is it because he is too young to "learn" how to play? We've bought him several toys - a puppy kong, rope bone, squeaky soft toy and kong wubba. I tried stuffing treats into the kong and he doesn't seem to be very interested so I thought perhaps he is not interested in dry biscuit treats so I tried stuffing cooked chicken breasts. He will attempt to dig it out for like a minute and he quickly lose interest if he is unable to get it out. Well, other than being not very interested in playing and weeing every 30 minutes, he is otherwise a happy bouncy little pup. Perhaps I am just letting paranoia get over me, but I'd really like to hear any advice from experienced dolers out there. Thanks in advance! Cheryl
