  1. Try command. Basil runs it. I went to the burwood one. I had no problem with this training. Plus we bought a lifetime membership at it was great. Not sure if its on the web, hand on http://www.dogtraining.com.au/ good luck Scout
  2. My little experence with boxers are limited to one boxer and that has only been for 4 weeks so far. But we have a crate, divided it in two as its too big just now for her. This crate moves with her. If she is in the laundry every second business day, with the laudry door open to outside. At night Boston sleeps in her crate in out bedroom. She cried the first 2 nights but had been fantastic ever since. At first any wimper during the night we got up and put her outside for toilet. We have got it down to 1 wake up during the night now. She is now 12 weeks old. I did take the first 5 days off after we got her. Built up alone time for her. PLUS a big thing, i think helped was two rags i sent the week before i picked her up. One, smelt of me- I had in the bed for a week - this went into the pup room. Second, went to bitch's bed for the last week. When i picked Boston up i took the rag that was on her mums bed. Bottom line get a crate and put in your room. Ebay i got mine for under $90. good luck Scout. Oh another thing before going to bed for the night play play and play. get them tired!
  3. Thank you everyone for your kind words. Its lonely coming home to a house after work with no noises of crying at the backdoor. But i know, no amount of money was going to get you better. Scout my present to you - Is peace at last, my little precious one!!! Love and mourn you forever Scouts mum forever
  4. Thanks for your advice everyone Scout passed away on Monday morning 5.6.2000-16.2.2009 Love you forever bab y
  5. On the rush back to the vet early Monday morning i knew she was not going to be with me for much longer. I jumped in the back of the car with Scout, while my partner battled the morning peck hour traffic. She passed away right in front of me while i held her. This i never dreamed in a million years that she would leave so soon. We continued to the vet to talk through her problems and maybe get some answers and learn from this. We buried her just outside our backyard, inside the paddock. I can see her now. We buried her with some of her favorite treats, her new snazzie arm bands that helped keep her elbows clean. Most importantly i put her collar on her so when she gets to the other side of that rainbow, my dad can look after her for me till i get there. Take care my gouchie scoutie R.I.P 5.6.2000-16.2.2009 Taken far to young, but gave so so much. Love you baby forever Pancreatisits relapes and MOD. Liver shut down.

  8. MM and A I am picking my girl up tomorrow, i just can't wait. I am hoping there is no last effects after this little trip to the vet. I have actually bought some barf so i am going to do some homework. Thanks for everyones advice Scouts mum
  9. What i am understanding is this; My dog is on a controlled diet. RC Maxi light. 150grams morning and night. She gets a bone once to twice a week. (Chicken carcass that is) On this occassion i gave her a pork bone, uncooked of course. Her body could not handle the fattiness of the bone since being on this maxi light for the last say 14months. We dropped her off at Dannys this morning and have no idea when we are to pick her up. I will call back later tonight to get some updates but i am preparing myself for her to be there, till at least Friday!!! :D All i am going to do now is wash all her bedding and collars and call every day! Its going to be a long week especially since i am home sick (fell of my horse) got no-one to talk to now! scouts mum
  10. There was no off cuts just a bone, its obvious that she can't even enjoy that little a treat!!
  11. He has sent us home and to come back tomorrow we are going to put her on a drip first thing tomorrow. He says she is not dehydrated or does not have a temp. I think thats why he has told me to go home and monitor her throughout the night. But i am unsure how long she will be put on a drip for. One day? Two days Thought i would pick some peoples brains while i am in for a long night. Scout
  12. I have just been told Scout has Pancreatitis. The vet has called me on our way home from seeing him with the blood test results. We are to bring her back in tomorrow to put her on an IV drip. She will not eat, which is fine cos we are not to feed her. She drinks a little water and then throws it up. This evening, she will not have eaten for 24hrs. Is there anything i can do to speed up/help and ease her pain and recovery from home? I know she might be at the Vets for a couple of days, recovering on an IV. thanks Scouts frantic mum
  13. My dog is on thyroxine (sp) My vet has told me, if i increase the amount too much she will become aggressive and unsettled. She gets tested on a regular basis to maintain the right amount. Also i used to know that when i would be at dog school during the day she would be fine with me. But when my OH would take her to the night lessons she would play up! People aid it could be something to do with the vision at night. But who knows? Scout
  14. Thanks Nekhbet, Not sure if she would chase around a treat ball, due to her lack of mobility. But i WILL try it. Thanks Scout
  15. Hi and thanks for all your replies. Kelly When Scout done her first one her hair grew back at a reasonable rate, it has just been this second op and then to go back in at a later date to take the pin out!! She was not any medication different to what she has been on before so this is why i am little confused to what could be the problem. She had two de-angelos (sp) not at the same time though, about nine montha apart!!!$$$$ I have just looked at the bills dare i say it and it has been two years this month since the last procedure was done on her. Last reading (just called the vet) she had a thryoid reading of 18 and he wanted it up over 20 hence the increase to 3 morning and night. But i posed the question why not increase it to 4 morning and night. I came from a technical background so i would conclude this, thats all!!! ok hope some more people can give their 2 bob's woth please. Scout
  16. Were the T4 levels checked with a blood test at this time, or is she on a thyroxine trial? Is she still on a diet? Staff'n'Toller - she turned 8 in june this year. Her T4 level was checked at her last appointment. Thats when he said to increase the dosage to 6. She has been on the thyroxine since about feb this year. This is when we switched vets. Scout only gets 100grams of RC in morning soaked and 150grams of RC at night. It has been this way since we changed vets. She also gets some bones during the week. A bag of 4 chicken carcasses that is spread over a week and maybe every second week half a marrow bone to keep her entertained while we are at work. Also when i buy it steamed cabbage as per vets instructions. He said i could give her as much as ths as i wanted but i probably only giver her this three times a week. We have slowly changed every aspect of her life. However her exercise is not ofeten due to her mobility!
  17. Scouts last appointment was three weeks ago thats when we increased from the 4tablets a day to the 6. Does anyone know if her hair will ever grow back? BTW the arm bans are on as she has broken her skin on her elbows when she lays down. This vet has already given us i reckon about another 3-4years, which i am very grateful. Before even a short walk would see her like having seizures. In that i mean, she would stop walking and her eyes would dart from side to side for anout 5-6sec. I would be supporting her at this stage then they would pass and we would make our way back home. This all happened pre this new vet and when she was 10kilos heavier pre all the above medication. She has not shown any more signs of "these seizures"
  18. We have had her swimming at the local rehab pool for dogs but i feel something internal is not right with her. Yeah we have tried to balance her thryiod problem, but does that mean her hair will grow back? unsure scout
  19. My scout has had her second acl done and intial recovery was great compared to the first. But overall recovery she has been subjected to bursts of lameness. The vet went back in i think it was 6 months later and took the pin back out. But no improvment. Not only am i concerned about the cronic lameness but she has not grown any hair back after surgery and is not shedding any seasonal hair either. ---------- We have changed vet as am not happy with quality of care. She has since lost 10kilos, but limp is still there, hair has not grown back. Medication she is on as per vet instructions; Thyronixe 6 tablets a day, was increased at last consultation from 4 to 6. Rymidol at the monment we are the judge of her pain so she is gettin one half at night and a quarter in the morning. Injections i have tried to spread out to 6 weeks apart. additional additives i give her; technyflex glucosime (human powder form) ACV basically i am asking what has anyone seen or heard about anything like this? I will post some pics soon of what we are fighting. thanks for reading scout
  20. Scout my rottie has been on a "eating plan" since Jan this year. She has lost 10kilos. She was about 52.2kilos something like that in Jan 2008. Now she is a smaller dog of 42kilos. She has been put on RC but gets a measly (sp) 150grams in morning and 150grams at night. Both meals soaked in water. Cabbage and rice and carrots when available. She also gets a bone once a week or one bag of 4 chicken carcass spread over that week. Scout however has sereve mobility problems so we have found it very hard to get the weight off her. However the vet is very pleased with her shape and movement. Good luck with it Scouty
