  1. Awwwww that's gorgeous Happy happy birthdays Tibor :birthday:
  2. Yes honest people do and will but and this is my concern Not everyone is honest. Maybeits up to the buyer to research more and understand. But life has told me not everyone does this. And so many people hear the word "Papers" and presume the pup is purebred. Maybe I am scewed with my thinking but there are a lot of gullible people out there.
  3. PMSL@Tassie, Sometime I think he is a bit of a registered retard But yes he is a purebred lol The thing that concerns me is simepoeple wont uderstand they are buying crossbred dogs if they are given papers. I remember a few years a go a friend purchased a Maltese shitzu cross then proceeded to tell me they didn't get papers. I had to explain to her ithat her dog is a Maltese cross Shitzu she thought it was a purebred call that. Now imagine if someone could have charged extra to people like her who don't understand about all the crosses out there. I don't have a problem with them documenting the parentage of the dogs but not in a way as to mislead the general public. Which I feel may be the outcome.
  4. Lasarena, I've been waiting for a chicken coop for 8 months now so I wouldn't hold your breathe if I was you PMSL The dog run he has to do as the pup will be here in 5 weeks lol. And I bet it won't get done till the last minute You know what they say about tradesmen :I did find quite a few decent looking ones through Google tho I can't post up links on iPad tho. Look up petpanels.com.au You can add to them as you want and move it if needed
  5. Wonder if I can register my cat if I tell them it's a special new cross breed dog :D :D
  6. But how do,you show a dog that has no breed standard being a cross breed ? I have no issue with cross bred dogs and over the years have had a few and loved them no differently to my pure bred pedigree dogs. But the difference is I know what my purebred dogs were supposed to look like my cross breeds have looked like a jiggled pigged cross bred dog lol. Anyway I think I'm thinking myself into circles lol.
  7. Oh and they are going to hold shows for the dogs registered with them. What can I say it's ummm very interesting reading. And it reads that they welcome people with any breeds (I wonder if that means cross breeds) to apply for a prefix.
  8. And I agine the DNA testing of a 6th cross bred dog. Wonder if their registry is going to have papers that show the breeds within the crosses. I was speaking to the breeder of the puppy I am currantly waiting on and one of the statements she told me was "I breed for temperament first but the dogs also NEED to follow the breed standard also. This is one of the reasons I am getting a pup off her She knows what she is talking about. But hey now, there is this new registry does that mean I can breed my Ridgie with my Jack Russell and have papers for it Will that mean I can charge more ? This will just totally open a while can of rotten worms IMO It's such a crock of Doo doo Anyway rant over
  9. And do t forget they say ALL relevant health testing has to be done. But let's face it if they have x bred their dogs what are the chances of them having done testing ? I am sure there are some breeders of cross breeds who do test but I imagine they are few are far between. Wonder if it's a 2 gen cross breed if you can still register it ?
  10. At the AABPR we will be accepting and administering papers to cross-bred canines. If each pure bred parent has pedigree papers, the prodgeny is eligible to receive AABPR pedigree papers. There is no scientific proof that pure bred canines are healthier that cross-bred canines, infact in many instances they produce healthier puppies, for example: If you were to cross a pug witha jack russel. the puppies produced may: have an elongated nose which reduces breathing difficulties have a more athletic composition A cross bred puppy also has the advantage of having a much lower chance of inheriting a congenital disease, since the mating process natuarally leaves out the defective genes. The only argument against cross-bred canines we see as truthful is that with a mix-breed dog often you have no idea which breeds your puppy is made up of, that is why at the AABPR all members must conduct DNA testing on all prodgeny produced. AS COPIED FROM THEIR WEBSITE So you don't even have to have a purebred dog for it to be registered on the all breeds register. But you have to have had DNA testing. Hmmmm
  11. BarkCOntrol, They look good but are not big enough for what we need. Ours needs to be 15 sqm So 5 x 3 minimum. Luckily for me my husband is a stainless steel welder. I keep showing him ones to buy he keeps telling me he isn't paying for something he can make for half the price and twice the quality lol Cheers Janet
  12. Thanks everyone for your input. Will show hubby the DPI information which says the run will need to be at least 15 sqm. At the moment there is no huge rush as Pup will be in a secure puppy run near the house until she grows a bit (we so this with all the pups) Also helps with the human bonding rather than her bonding with the other dogs instead of us. Once we build our farm shed we will build another dog run attached to that which will give us even more flexibility to move the dogs as needed. ???? Cheers Janet.
  13. At the moment we have our ridgeback boy and our jack Russell boy in the larger run. We are talking about dividing it so we can seperate these two if we want to but with a gate between that we can leave open if we want. The new pup is a ridgie bitch so it needs to be seperate from the other run. So far the two we have have never fence run. In fact they sleep most of the time in the run. They have a large shed 3m x 2 as the kennel with raised beds in it.
  14. Large breed dogs. And it depends on the day how long they are in them. They are in runs when ever we are not home due to be rural and sourounded by livestock. They are out a minimum of 6 hours to run the 7 acres. The one run we have now is 7 metres by 3 and needing another run for the new pup. I've told hubby I want the same size run he says smaller. Hence the post.
  15. Hi all just a question on what you would say is the minimum you would have for a dog run? What size would you say is a great size ? Cheers Janet
  16. Wow Cavelblaze hope all has gone well ? Has she whelped yet ? Or when is due date. Looks like your girl is going to have her hands full and you too.
  17. Cavalblaze you poor thing. So is inguinal hernias a genetic issue ? Or just bloody bad luck ? Hope Your next litter works out well and you can get something you want out of it. I love the Tri's personally they're just Devine.
  18. Wow just goes to show how out of the loop I am Didn't realise anyone had puppies on the way let alone them being born and going to their new homes. JJ how many did she have ? We are thinking about another Ridgie pup after have a dog here for a trial (he was being rehomed but it just didn't work out with the two entire dogs) Have been in contact with the breeder of Boofs Dad and she had a mating done 2 days ago. We are on the list for a bitch if we are happy with it. Might actually get my show dog yet !!! 3 rd time lucky ??? Cheers Janet
  19. Have just been away in Thailand and got my cleaner to house sit. We gave her $100 per week plus her usually cleaning pay. All she had to do was let dogs out of runs and put them away and feed them. And keep an eye on the cats. She said she loved it as it was like a mini holiday for her. We were supposed to be gone 22 days but had to come home after only 10 days and she was really disappointed. She has said from now on she is happy to do it for free. We have also had her in if we have to have a night away or weekend away.
  20. Must mean we all have real lives lol Hello everyone. Hope everyone and their fur kids are well ?
  21. Wow 3 weeks since the last reply on here we really are all getting slack Not much news here Russell is a typical Jack Russell and having great fun tormenting the Big fella Boof. A new kitten in the house that Russell wants to get too and the new kitten is having great delight in tormenting Russell by lying on the floor in front of the window and rolling around and patting the window where Russell has his head resting I'm not sure who is the bigger Brat !!! Apart from that all is quiet. I am a retired lady of leisure now having quit my job 3 weeks ago :D :D :D so lots of time to mow the 4 acres of lawn and play with the pooches when the back permits. One of our own his having a birthday on Monday. Isn't that right TLC  Tanya WOW where did that 12 months go Happy belated Birthday to Milah. Wonder if the owner of that missing horse had found her ? Ok rambled enough for one night (or month) Cheers Janet
