Bargain!!! How did you go with them?
-
Wish I was that lucky, Chelsea is in Novice and still thinks that the occasional lunge is worth the reprimand I've just had a look around, I can't find my old cat lead.. otherwise you'd be welcome to it. Best of luck tonight!
-
I was going to suggest using a cat (or a puppy) one too... they are very lightweight. Just be careful that your dog is past the stage where he may suddenly lunge for something as I doubt these leads would hold a dog bigger than, um, a cat! Plenty of the online stores stock show leads... would they be of any use to you? They are very fine nylon leads. Bonus of lots of colours to choose from and they usually aren't very expensive.

As was suggested by another DOLer (I think Dru?) mix a little bit of Aloveen conditioner with water in a small spray bottle ... spray this and dogs smell devine and are extra soft! Great for 'in between' baths.. tho, like noisymina my dogs coat is short enough that she usually just gets a quick bath Only mix as much as required tho, Aloveen mixed with water will go mouldy if stored for too long..

High Level Training With Weak Nerved Dog
Anna H replied to jesomil's topic in Training / Obedience / Dog Sports
My GSP also has weak nerves, she is doing very well at obedience class (she's been going since about 10 weeks) and exceeds even her class standard at home... but put her in any other environment and she shuts down or becomes highly distracted. She does have high prey drive, but I am still having a lot of difficulting 'channelling' this in the right direction... I highly doubt she will ever make a top obedience dog outside of her club, but within the club I do expect she will gain her CD before too long as long as I don't push her too hard. She has certainly been a difficult dog to train...and it's still a work in progress! This is exactly like my Cougar, a Kelpie X. -
Best Shampoo For Sensitive Skin
Anna H replied to Charlotte's topic in Health / Nutrition / Grooming
Another vote for Aloveen here! Turned Chelsea's itchy, flaky skin into this: -
Both Cougar and Chelsea picked it up earlier last year whilst in boarding... despite both being vaccinated against it. Cougar was 10 at the time and actually recovered faster than Chels (who was about 18 months old)... both took about 1.5 weeks to get over the worst of it, but it was about 2 more weeks before Chelsea was back to her usual nutty self. I also used Benadryl.. it didn't lessen the time they had it, but did make it more comfortable for them (and me at night!)
-
Phew! Had me worried for a minute there! They don't get pork often, only when it's really cheap ('bout this time of the year)
-
What is this virus? I've never heard of it! Is raw pork really that bad? My guys love their raw trotters... sounds like I better not feed them from now on.
-
Awesome... numbers are starting to look much better now! :D Once the obedience clubs start back up in the New Year, I'm sure we'll have enough people to make this happen. Woo hoo! Now... just gotta look at a venue that may be suitable.

*BUMP*

IMO - there seems to be a huge variance between the instructors, I found it really confusing initially as one would tell you one thing, then, the next thing you know, you'd be getting in trouble by another insturcter for doing that same thing! There is a club in Joondalup - I'v ebeen meaning to try them myself, but it's a bit far for me. Joondalup Obedience

I 'modified' the recipe a little bit (removed the bran, added parmesan, a few herbs and some garlic), cut them with non-doggy shaped cutters, and baked them a little less... a voila! They taste great with a nice sharp cheese and a glass of wine. Sorry for the OT Eridor!

Here's a link I found: Dog Biscuits Dr Harry's Recipe HTH!
-
Dr Harry's Dog Biscuits are a BIG winner in this house... the dogs love them, and they are super cheap and non-stinky to make (actually, they are really yummy for people biscuits when modified a little and not baked so hard!) I'll go for a search to find the recipe...

mjk05 - Thanks for that info, Chelsea is in the trialling level classes... so should meet that criterea, just no space left in agility so need to look elsewhere. Thanks for that link! Yes, the class sizes at Northern Suburbs are huge (even in the trialling classes!) and seemingly growing by the day. So probably would be very daunting for a beginner (I know I was when I first lobbed up there - and I've been to other training clubs before)
-
Wow! Is Morley really that far away? No wonder I chew through so much petrol! In that case, Vic Park would definately be closer - it only takes me 15-20mins to get there from Morley. Northern Suburbs isn't linked to the agility at Ashfield (that I am aware of anyway)... as they have agility at the same place, but on a different night. Anyone got more info on the Ashfield agility? I'd like to start Chels, but my club is too full as always.
-
There are quite a few DOLers at Northern Suburbs in Carine as well.
-
The training club that I am involved with has finished for the year, but will hit up a few that I think may be interested in the New Year... I'm guessing that many other clubs have also wound up for Xmas etc. Keep the names coming guys!
-
About 30... for a two day workshop (15 people at each day)
-
Thanks all who have either replied here or pm'd me .... Just an update, we still do not have enough numbers to make this happen, so at this stage this will have to be put 'on hold' ... I will bump this thread back up in the New Year once the silly season has passed and see if we can get some more interested people then. Till then, if any anyone else is interested, please pm or reply here. Happy Christmas!
