Whole heartedly agree with everything Donna says here. That is what I do with my babies and never have an issue. I also make sue the go to the toilet before being put in the pen to sleep. From a very early age the learn lights out means sleep time. I have a 14 week old girl here and she sleeps in the puppy pen all night no worries. I think the big difference is like Donna, mine don't leave until 10 weeks

I have heard it described like this. The silver coat has been described as the color of moonlight, while the true fawn Pug's coat is sunlike. And also like the silver ring/glow of the ring around a full moon. I also believe that the silvers are not devoid of guard hairs and that some of the smutty dogs are actually silver, it's the base coat that matters. You can have a smutty dog with an apricot base coat and also a beautiful clear coat that has a fawn/apricot base but is probably lacking pigment. Whereas the silver's base coat is almost white/clear that it actually reflects light back at you, regardless of smut or not. Also the silvers will have excellent pigment down to the slippers and the pencilling and probably stockings, and will have the jet black toenails. I would even say that if the very early breeders (i'm talking around the formation of the standard) would look at these pugs and say they were of Willoughby lines.

Yes anne, I just read that.

We had a calf born once witha really swollen miss-shaped head. It was a difficult birth and the calf returned to normal within a week.

Anne, sorry but as this is not my pic or indeed my pug I wouldn't like to place it on a public forum

I don't understand, where was the part about her being treated badly. And also she makes the distinction that she has silver/grays. Silver was never removed fron the standard and "silver/gray" was never part of the standard.

I have a photo of a silver pug. James Trullinger wrote, "It was great to have met you and to see your dog who is the only true silver I know of anywhere!" This was in a letter to his owners in March 1978. he is nothing like what are described as "silver" or "silver/gray" on those websites Also I will quote from an article about Grace Lord "Tangwah" by Harry Spira. ""What about colour? i enquired. Colour can be a bit of a problem, came back the answer, but usually it is a self inflicted one. Trouble is that the majority of present day breeders appear to be obsessed with the production of clear apricot dogs. Everyone wants them-at the expense of the silver fawns, which so many, including you judges, mistankenly take for smutties"

I'm afraid you are wrong Steve. There are silvers out there but they are not what the POC say they are. If you had had dealings with this group you would understand that they have taken information and "tweaked it" to suit their own agenda which is selling pugs of rare colour at "rare" prices. I have had people refer to normal fawn pugs as "brindle" because they don't know any better. Just because some one says that this is that colour does not make it true. And references to dogs from days gone by that are artists depictions are just that, not a true and accurate account, (and sadly that could probably be said of today's photos that can be photo shopped.)

We use Prime 100 pet rolls. All our dogs love them and they have a good variety and are natural. We also buy straight from the manufacturer so of course they are much cheaper.

Congratulations Gumnut on your babies. They are precious. i posted a pic of the babies with the match box so people could appreciate just how small pug babies are. Big boy in the pic was 210 gms and small boy 156 gms. Just back to their birth weights. Big boy was probably a "big" sized pup and small boy about average. I have had one as small as 88 grms in a litter of seven.

Here are my boys taken today. Mum doing well, just could be a little more hydrated.

At the supermarket in the aisle with the baking products - under the name of Glucose syrup -derived from corn.

Well Sharon did you meet "Hairy Mclary" from Buckley dairy? Are you still laughing hysterically? Rhonda and Lyn were having a good laugh about it today at my house. But hey where do you think his fether got his name from...."Fuzzy Bear" was not just whimsy. Who won what with the pugs?

Thanks. I did use just 1/2 teaspoon because I figured if that was wrong I could add more. Haidee is having a check up tomorrow so the boys will go too to discuss this and have a check.

I've made up some of this formula for the boys. They have some pretty funky water poo and so I have given them some nautral yoghurt and I'm thinking I'll start them on some formula, considering mum is on AB's and pain killers. Anyway, when it says 1/2 Tsp of Corn syrup is this teaspoon or tablespoon. I'm a bit confused because when we did home ec. at school tsp-stood for teaspoon and Tsp stood for tablespoon. But my tablspoon measure has Tbsp. Which is which?

Haidee had 2 boys by c-section on Thursday the 5th. Babies have dropped weight but are going well so far. Haidee had to be spayed as the horn with the dead pup was like soup and the risk of infection was too great. In fact the vet thought if she had tried to push puppies out she may have ruptured her uterus. we had to go back to th vet today as her temp went to 39.5 We mainly think due to pain so she was given more pain relief and more AB's and her temp came down. She has eaten a little and is interested in cleaning pups ect. Fingers crossed she is on the improve.

Just an update. Mum is still going well. Her temp has been in a consistent range throughout. No spikes. She is eating and drinking well. And yes living the life of luxury, that she normally lives anyway. Had an ultra sound today to check heatbeats and yes they are going well. Has only had a small amount of green discharge since initial episode. We are opting for a c-section on Friday at 11am. A few reasons. Even though 63 days is monday, she was prog tested and had one natural mating 48 hours after ovulation, so we are working on 61 days, which is Saturday. She went day 60 her last litter, and she was a silent whelper. No usual signs of impending birth,no sound during and 3 babies delivered before it was noticed. (Another story). Also the vet could feel the dead pup and it's basically the first presented. Just keeping fingers crossed everything waits until then.

Well I have six of the black monsters at the moment and I can attest to the fact that something that CUTE can and because he is black will be an absolute devil. I love my babies but yes it is time for them to go to (and terrorize) their new homes. God help the poor unsuspecting souls, they have no idea what they're in for.

Thanks everyone. Still sitting here with all fingers and toes crossed. I would have prefered Haidee to go on antibiotics but the vet said no. His reasoning was that it would mask any developing infection. He has me monitoring her tempreture and keeping an eye out for her going off food and acting lethargic. Have his mobile number for out of hours. She is going back in tomorrow for an ultrasound to check heartbeats. We are planning to do a c-section and are hoping to get as close to the 9th as possible. The discharge is down to almost nothing. The vet thinks/hopes that the uterus will cocoon the dead pup and hopefully that will help keep out infection. Haidee is doing well, doesn't know there is anything wrong. She is happily eating and sleeping and loving all the attention from mum. Every day is one day closer. I'm staying as positive as I can. Andisa I will sit down and read your post thoroughly because I believe this is the best way to learn. I remeber last Christmas I was hand raising the premmie rescue babies and Belinda assured me that they would suck from a human premmie bottle and they did. Have still got all the stuff for the Leerburg formula. And beef liver tea cubes frozen ready to go. The advice we get fromdogzonline and other breeders is priceless.

The situation is my pug girl has just gone 7 weeks in whelp. Yesterday she had a green discharge. Into the emergency vet we went. Had a progesterone test done and that is fine. Her temp was 37.4. She is dilated and vets weren't convinced there were good heartbeats. She was not in labour. In to my own vet today and she is still the same. Temp the same, dilated, no active labour but the vet found that one pup had no heartbeat but the other 3 or 4 were fine. Obviously, a c-section at this time will mean losing the litter. The bitch is fine in herself, happy and active, eating and drinking well. Haidee's health is the top priority here but we also want to give the pups a fighting chance. We are hoping to get her as close as we can to the due date befor doing a c-section. Does any one have any experience or advice on getting her there? Also all the help and advice on helping possible premmie babies get the best start possible would be greatly appreciated. Ohh and lots of positive vibes for Haidee would be good.

I had 3 black pug girls in a litter that wer identical no white markings or anything to help identify, so I used a texta to write 1,2,and 3 on their bellies. I made little soft elastic collars that i used to identify which pups had been wormed, nails clipped had medication ect.
