I have 2 "swimmers" at the moment 3 weeks as well. One has the flat chest but he is beginning to get up on his back legs. The other one only has issue with his back legs. Very weak on one side more than the other. When he is laying on his back his leg turns out ward. I took both into see the vet today. She is vet but also practices acupuncture and Chinese medicine. She released some of the tension from the first little boy and his chest was not quite as flat. I have to hold him around the torso and just let him "dangle" this will help the tension along his spine. I also have to make him lay on both sides, and also tickle his left ear. He doesn't seem to have the same body awareness on that side. The second boy has to do the same "dangle" exercise. I also have to gently stretch his leg and at the same time gently rotate it inward. Sounds hard but he is a pug pup so his whole leg fits nicely in my palm. I have two others in the litter who are bigger and they are fine. Up on all fours and tottering about.

Flea Problem - Help Please
puglvr replied to Stolzseinrotts's topic in Health / Nutrition / Grooming
Have always used Frontline and never had a problem. We did have a very bad flea problem when we first moved here and the vet put us onto frontline. She said it will be a long process to break the cycle and eventually we did. Now we don't even really need to use the frontline . -
Thanks. Pups are all good now. Have wormed them but they seemed to have firmed up a bit.

I'm so sorry to hear this Anne. They certainly take large chunks of our hearts with them. Run free at the bridge Little man. Tell all your Ozpug friends up there "we love and miss them"

Has anyone experienced a bitch having milk that is too rich. Pups will be two weeks tomorrow and they have put on weight really well since birth. Now they seem to have very runny poo for the last couple of days. A couple have also vomited up milk after feeding. So I try to take them off before they gorge themselves. I also have one that is a bit reluctant to feed and when he does he only stays on for a few minutes. He is putting on weight but not at the same rate previous. (Will be off to the vet for a check tomorrow) has anyone given protexin paste to pups this young? How much?

Babies here. 1 black girl, 1 fawn boy and 2 black boys. We also had a 5th pup a little black girl who had a cleft palate and died soon after birth. I think we had the shortest labour ever. 5 pups ...... 54 minutes beginning to end.

Class Winning/placings And Ribbons
puglvr replied to Pretty Miss Emma's topic in General Dog Discussion
I tend to agree, ribbons should be handed out ringside, even if they are offered by the steward. Our breed club gives out place ribbons at our Champ and Open Shows and also at our Members comps. -
Ohhhh we are so related.

My pugs are lethal to chickens, they will run them down, kill and eat them. One has also run down and killed a rabbit.

That is why things like conformation and temperament take precedence in good breeding programs because they are what makes the breed more than anything else Couldn't agree more. But we cannot say that the writers/developers of the standards did not have this in mind as well. In many cases they did not have the advantages that we have with DNA testing and scientific understanding of diseases. How or why do we feel the need or right to dismiss the knowledge that they used when developing these standards? We may not know the reason for the decisions and we should not dismiss so easliy.

I find it interesting to read about "some old biddies not liking" or not allowing the colour on the whim of the founders. Isn't allowing "colours" into a standard because they crop up or used to be around before the standard was written the same thing. The whim of people who have or like the colour. Isn't this a double standard? I'm not singling out anyone at all just the general vibe.

Warrnambool/lady Bay 26th And 27th January.
puglvr replied to Bilbo Baggins's topic in General Dog Discussion
I entered but stayed home because we have a couple of cases of kennel cough here. Didn't think it would be a good thing to bring my lot just in case. So I would really appreciate Gr 1 results and which pug exhibitors were there, kind people. -
Yes Wandering Jew is most likely the culprit. Do you have any human anti histamine s? That might help with the itching. Or Benadryl? Human child dose.

I tell my puppy buyers to not come straight back inside after the pup has gone to the toilet. My pups love to go outside and so if as soon as they have peed/pooed they are bought back inside then they tend to hang on to stay outside. So when you bring them in they "go" and what happens you take them back out again.

Looks similar to a staph infection my old pug Ted had. He'd get a mild case when he was blowing coat.

Just mated my girl and boy. She was a fraction too small/ low for him so we stood her on a paving stone and viola. -
Something I Noticed When I Was In The Usa
puglvr replied to HugUrPup's topic in General Dog Discussion
Small dogs even fly in cabin on some US airlines. How good would that be. -
We had giardiasis last year. All 15 of the pugs, the GSD and me. We all had metrogyl and because it was in our tanks we treat the tank water every two months and have an ultr fine filter fitted. I know have metrogyl on hand all the time. Clears up any bouts of runny poo very quickly.
