Sad to say my little girl did not make it. She died last Thursday, quitely between feeds. She was only 8 days old and had only put on about 40 gms. Her brother is doing well despite a touch of infection probably due to inhaling milk. His little eyes have just opened. Think good thoughts for him I don't think I can take loosing another one.

Both I wish I knew /could remember how to post them larger.

Can't really give any concrete advise but go with your instincts. Had one pug girl deliver a singleton when she wasn't supposed to be in pup and one girl loose hers.
-
Congratulations on the pups everyone. Elenbah those babies are beautiful. What is it with the first time mums? Although I must say my girl is an excellent mum regarding cleaning feeding ect.
-
My first timer also was in a hurry to have hers. She also showed no signs of impending delivery (Just didn't eat tea) She had 4 but we lost 2 because she delivered them without nesting, contractions, passing the plug ect. She was in the very capable hands of breeder with over 30 years experience and even she was stunned. So we have 1 boy and 1 girl. Going well at this stage but the little fella's toenail looks to be partially ripped out so its a matter of cleaning with salty water and swab with Betadine to keep infection away. Mum is on antibiotics (fully story later) so he should get them from her. The 2 we lost were a girl 144 gms and a litttle boy 80 gms.

Well we are on the countdown now so good luck everyone. I need lots of it and positive vibes. My dad has been diagnosed with Luekeamia and only has 4-6 months. So I'm convinced that things are not going to go well

A little bit of hope...? My husband's sheep dogs got into the rat bait in the farm shed and they were given Vitamin K treatment and both survived so your babies might too. I'm hoping so.

How many pugs were entered? It seems a very small number of pugs in the results

Well Meaning Friends Want To Visit The New Babies!
puglvr replied to LizT's topic in Breeders Community
I can sympathise with you. I have a litter due in 3 weeks. My sister rang about 2 weeks ago and announced that she was coming to stay overnight the week before they are due and bringing her dog. She had a hissy fit when I said she'd have to wait until I found out whether my girl was in pup. If she was no she couldn't bring him. She wouldn't listen to reason, so I said go and speak to Barry's breeder and see what she would do........ that shut her up. I don't have to justify my decissionsin my home. -
Lots of Good Luck coming your way. I know your frustrations. For various reasons over the years I have had AI (fresh) done with some of my bitches. 4 times, 3 different bitches 4 different dogs nothing!! Ai's from same dogs produced puppies. My last attempt, the vets used a new "method" of inserting the semen with an implement that after implanting the semen, was then inflated (like they do when clearing ateries) this supposedly acts like the males penis swelling and stimulates the female's muscles to contract thus pushing the semen forward....... anyway end result....pregnant bitch YAY. New technology from Germany has only been used at the vets about a month before. So maybe the frozen AI will work for you better than others

Does Anyone Have A Permanently Plumbed In Hydrobath?
puglvr replied to SmoothieGirl's topic in Health / Nutrition / Grooming
My hydrobath is in the dog room. It isn't plumbed in but the tap from the kitchen sink is extendable so it swivels around and extends over the bath to fill it. We have a thick hose that is attached to the outlet and that runs out through a hole drilled for it through the wall. This hose can run out onto the grass our into the septic drain system. The power for the bath is on the wall near the bath. Best thing about it being inside is that when it's cold I can have the heating on to keep the dogs warm and to finsh off the drying. -
Would it be fair to assume that Pugs will be on after lunch?????

Might have to come up one year Vicky- my brother lives in The Rock now so I'll have somewhere to stay.

Where abouts is The Rock? Is it near Waga Wagga?

Not true about the Pug Anne. I have one who has enormous prey drive. I have watched her stalk birds like a lion (slow stalking to get close). If you are not watching and a chicken makes the mistake of coming into the house yard.....goodbye chicken. And she has even caught a rabbit that got into the house yard.

Beautiful, how do we go about ordering ect.

Well I have wonderful purebred, healthy pugs with hidiously deformed squashed in faces..... so maybe I'll just do the "right thing" and take up this offer........... we have a Jack Russell bitch which we would like to put in pup to a pug. We live in the Shepparton and I was wondering if you know of someone in this area that would to allow us to use their male dog , of course we would pay for the service. God knows I don't want to be labelled cruel or anything. And if you think I'm being touchy, well you are right!!!! I'm sick and tired of people dragging up the "Pug squashed face can't breathe ........ " everytime there is some discusssion like this. Nobody has the right to make these comments unless they have bred Pugs and/or know more about the breed than just what they've read in books. Actually that goes for all breeds.

Our club has an Open Show. We have 2 trainee Judges 1 for the breed classes and one for the Property classes. We ask our judges to critique the dogs as well. As for numbers. When my boy won there was an entry of 106. So he actually beat more dogs in that show than he needed to beat all up to attain his Ch title.

Just remember , there will be a time in the future where you will "miss my sweet funny sometimes naughty girl" and nothing will bring her back. Love her now. Persist with her. She's a baby and you choose to bring her into your family and she's doing what babies do and will do so for a few more months. Get her crate and use it when you need time out alone with the boys. And make sure you have time out alone with her as well. Look into those sweet Cocker eyes and love her.

Dogs Victoria Wanting To Take More Decisions From Breeders.
puglvr replied to Steve's topic in Breeders Community
Establishing such a criteria will be difficult, but can we afford not to ? Your thoughts and comments would be greatly appreciated. Lionel Bleakley 25 May 2010 Isn't this the point. Let them know your thoughts and comments.
