  1. My smallest pug was 88 gms born she grew into a strong one her name was PeeWee. In the litter of rescue pups we had they were born premmie and the two girls got down to 80 and 90 gms before they turned the corner. Grew into beautiful healthy girls. Forgot to say Good Luck with the pug babies.
  2. Yes, she's been advised to do that, to put out flyers and to contact the ranger. Also to keep an eye out in the Trading post ect. She contacted us at the pug club and so I thought I'd post on here and elsewhere just in case people se/hear something.
  3. I was contacted today by a lady who has had her Pug Stolen. She was stolen from the Christmas Hills/ Yarra Glenn Area of Melbourne on 30th June. She is due to Whelp now. She is a Single coated fawn female. the father of the pups is a fawn male so will have all fawn pups. She is 6 years old and answers to the name Sharni. $1000 Reward Please Ph: 0414 886655 (Joy) if no answer please leave a message.
  4. There is nothing stopping you from going to show classes if they have them in your area. Just explain to the instructor that your boy is not the one you will be showing but you want to learn how ect before you get your new pup and then hopefully will be able to give the pup a great start- because you know what you're doing.
  5. And does this mean that all 13 of my pugs are unhealthy, crippled and disease ridden? Well I suppose to some people yes. But these people would be those that have never met them or who don't have a real understanding of the breed and the breed standard. For example We don't breed for "bulging eyes and bowed legs" Eyes Dark, relatively large, round in shape, soft and solicitous in expression, very lustrous, and when excited, full of fire. Never protruding, exaggerated or showing white when looking straight ahead. Free from obvious eye problems. Forequarters Legs very strong, straight, of moderate length, and well under body. Shoulders well sloped. And considering the Pug is one of the oldest breeds known, how is it that it has survived for so long? Could it be possible that breeders may be breeding for healthier dogs? NO!!! that would never happen. By the way - Ever heard of a person/child being mauled to death or even attacked by a Pug? Point being I breed Pugs, and yes I was well aware that Pugs are a product of "Dwarf genes" and I am also very aware of potential health problems in the breed. I don't appreciate the Pug being held up as an example everytime there is a debate about health in the pure bred dog world. Believe it or not there are breeds out there with bigger problems than pugs.
  6. Bellarine Vet Clinic. Coppards Rd Newcomb (in Geelong) Who can forget the litter of great Danes from 20 year old sperm.
  7. In victoria in July it is half price or discount desexing. Maybe wait until then. Repair of hernia on top of that should not be a lot more expensive.
  8. Good Luck everyone. I'll be waiting for posted results....especially PUGS (Sharon & Andisa) or any one else who wants to post.
  9. We live on a farm and my husband kills all our meat. He is very quick and humane. I couldn't watch the program last night and even he had trouble watching.
  10. No numbers here either. But that's not unusual when you live where we do.
  11. Yes it is a very very small world. It is my car with the PUGLVR plates. Did you notice I was parked the furtherest away from the show on Sunday? It was a very long walk at the end of the day.
  12. Yes Tenties your little birdie was right. It was my little man the Black pug who won Best In Show.
  13. I got mine today and have been trying to figure out the same thing. Maybe the group 7 judge can't come antd they've split the breed up???? who knows it doesn't make any sense really.
  14. It is a lovely thought. I recieved flowers and a card (written by the "rescue girls) Thanking me for looking after them and their babies from their new mum Lorraine when they came to take them home. Perfect home for two very special girls.
  15. I'll give you an example of a lady who sold a pup as a pet on the main register. (No contract requiring desexing ect) She gets a phone call from the VCA around 2 years later. The bitch has been sold on to a Breeder who is wanting to register her in her name. Original owner's name had been whited out that is why the VCA rang. Luckily things were worked out by both breeders. People's intentions are often good but not always followed through.c I register all my pups on the limited register unless I know at the time I am keeping one. They can be moved between registers if need be.
  16. Exactly what Kirty said. I had a young pug with Pyo and the thing is they have to be extremely careful not to nic the uterus and spill the contents into the abdominal cavity. This can cause serious problems.
  17. How can people not love black dogs. Black pugs have a special place in my heart.
  18. Yes we got both sets of numbers Friday before last.
  19. Pics would definitely be helpful. Depending how tall he is that doesn't rule him out. Some pugs can be quite tall (especially from other then registered breeders) Also having a bit of nose is not necessarily an indication because sometimes it not a "nose" but rather lack of nose roll and less than ideal muzzle makes them look like they have a nose. If you want to compare him to dogs close to the standard come to a Pug Show and see for yourself. Even then they don't all look alike. Save your money and just enjoy him. If you really want to spend your money you could make a donation to pug rescue and help a little fella like yours. Oh and come and join in the pug discussion in the breed subforums.
  20. My brother is a dairy farmer and he contracted Lepto. It was thought it was probably from infected cow urine. It will enter through cuts or open skin and it is also taken in through the nose and mouth. If you can smell it you are breathing it in. He was very very sick and the specialist at the time only found it because my brother asked if he could have Brucillocous(SP)? The specialist said if the organisms had actually made it to his heart he would have died.
  21. Haven't got my numbers yet. Shazzapug if you have yours what is your first number?
  22. When my girls or boys for that fact go off their food I get chicken thighs and pan fry them. They love them and I give them the fat as well.
  23. For my girl I bought a humidifier & used a card table with a double layer of plastic drop sheets around the out side. I also put a blanket around the outside of it. I would probably work well with a crate covered in like this and the humidifier underneath the dropsheets but outside the crate. Because my girl was obedience trained she stayed in the tent no worries. One tip though is to turn the humidifier on 5-10 minutes before putting the dog in there so there is already a build up of steam. Also you will need to towel the dog off after as they can get quite damp.
  24. When my GSD had it her lung collapsed and she was in intensive care in Werribee for a week. She came home on antibiotics, rest and gantle excercise. She also had to have chest lavage (I think that's what they called it). She spent 20 minutes in a steam tent three times a day and then we "banged" her ribcage gently with cupped hands on both sides for about 5 minutes. This helped loosen the secretions. We did this for 2 or 3 weeks and then she went back to the vet for progress check. He could not believe it was the same dog.
  25. We are coming to Sharon. Lots of Pugs What's your first number?
